  1. Wow, that is the stupidest and most idiotidict coment i have heard since coming to this sight.

    Not really, this is:

I don't get to pick what country I live in,  and if I could it wouldn't be in this one at this point.

Sorry that you lack the common sense to understand the sarcasm of the previous analogy provided.

  2. I really could care less what was said.

But Freeman stole from this team. He stole from the players. He stole from the coaches. He lied to our head coach. He ducked the competition. He took the easy way out.

Locking in a position that we recruited hard, The staff no longer pursued another QB as they had a commitment from their number one target. Your only as good as your word. Something todays youth need to understand. If you give your word you keep it or at least have the balls to explain why you have changed it.

Being politaclly correct is what is ruining this country.

I really couldnt agree with you more, except that if billy slash is such a recruiting genius, maybe he wouldnt have irresponsibly promised Freeman that he would be the only qb recruited in this class, we wouldnt be in this situation.

  3. I look as Taylor as a serious Heisman contender.

    :rollin:rollin:rollin:rollin

Stop it!!! I just spit my slushee all over my monitor. :rollin:rollin

He's a nice qb "for now," tough as nails, has moxy, guts, balls, etc, but "serious Heisman contender"??? In a league that lost quite a few starting qb's, Im betting that he wont be All Big 12 (first team).

  4. I think Callahan should wear red and white plaid pants, a red shirt, red shoes and a red driving hat. That would be boss.  :horns2

    :horns

If the worst you can come up with is "he wasn't wearing a Nebraska shirt," then that is pretty pathetic. Think about comments like that for exactly one minute, then keep it to yourself. :thumbs

Hmmm, silly me. I guess that I actually want the HC of my favorite program to represent the program when he is at an official function for that program  I guess the original statement was "The players will see that Callahan is 100% devoted to them."

If this is true, cant he even wear a Husker shirt to a Husker press conference. :wtf

Bowl streak, walkons, not representing the Huskers in public......100% devoted <_<

I can not believe that we have people bitching about how Callahan dresses. I guess this is a good indication that our program is on the way up if this is the biggest thing that people have to complain about.

I can easily complain about the 24 PPG that billy slashs offense has given us since he got here. How about the lack of depth he has given us at OL/Safety in this his 3rd year at the program. How about the D giving up 40 points late in the year to a bad Kansas team. Special teams are specially troubling, especially with the loss of Koch. Can still complain about him forfeiting the Bowl Streak just to display his offense.

There are many more... shall I continue?

  5. Adams flat out isnt D-1 talent. He doenst have the speed that Stuntz did, he wont sniff the field at either qb or fs.

Have you ever seen Jordan Adams play, or is this just another assumption with no basis, the same way you cut down Joe Ganz? I have never seen the kid play before, so I don't know his abilities. I'd hope you have the inside track on this kid since you can say without hesitation that he doesn't belong.

The basis is, as bad as the qb play has been the last 2 years, if he were any good at all, he would have seen the field, not been 5th string. And, if I remember correctly, I believe Rivals said his 40 time was something like 4.8, fine for an OG, not good for a FS.

Here we go again. People complained that we didn't recruit enough safeties or DL depth but when we fix it by trying to move some players around that may see the field in their new position and succeding unlike never seeing the field in their old position we have to bash the whole process. Plus we are not exactly moving to-be seniors around. We are moving young kids (for the most part) that have a chance to learn new positions and succeed and help us out in the present and future.

I just wish the coaches knew what they were doing. Moving a guy repeatedly (like Moore and Jackson) has not benefitted the player or the program. And moving a bunch of guys that wouldnt have seen the field at their preferred positions to safety doesnt cure the problem, it makes it worse. Guys who could possibly contribute wont get the reps to make the team better (isnt that the reason why the walkon program was slashed, because these coaches couldnt figure out how to get reps for all those players  ). I am all for moving a guy like Green or Wilson, guys who have played DB in the past and who might have a shot a contributing as opposed to moving some guys that were 4th and 5th stringers at other posisitons.

  6. Its gonna bring a smile to my face when Jackson is confusing the hell out of defenses and creating horrible matchup difficulties when he lines up at I back one play, split end the next, and than wide out the play after that in his junior year. From everything I have heard, he is talented enough to play pretty much any skill position, and maybe they are settting him up to be a charles woodson, teddy ginn kind of athlete that plays all over the field.... Just because he didnt see a ton of time as a freshman does not mean he wont as a sophomore or beyond...

I think that Jackson is probably the best RB recruit from that class. I just have a gut feeling that billy slash will waste his talent, and he may not be here for his entire career.

  7. Hey, Im posting on a Nebraska board and currently not wearing a single piece of nebraska memorabilia..... is that ok? Am i representing the school as well as I could? To the topic. I am certainly not upset with a comment like this being made for a few reasons. One is the manner in which Freeman decommited. Many have said that he is a child and I believe that that is the case for many 17 yr olds, so I wont hold him accountable there, but his father was ultimately the one who set up the visit, who controlled Freeman's recruitiment, and who should have been the one to call up Callahan himself and explain to him why Freeman was looking elsewhere, and why he ended up going to K-State. None of this was done, therefore I see this comment as being a shot at Mr. Freeman more so than Josh. Secondly, this is not national news... The only people who are even aware that these comments were made are people in the states of Nebraska and Kansas and possibly in some other big twelve states. It doesnt matter if Callahan was a saint, the coaches and players in teh big twelve are not going to give him the same kind of respect that they gave TO. We are getting more positive publicity this summer than we have had since 2001 honestly at the national level, so I am not concerned about a little comment that Callahan made to some local reporters.

P.S. I dont agree with alot of the actions that our President takes, and will be the first to tell you which, but there is a big difference. I don't get to pick what country I live in, and if I could it wouldn't be in this one at this point. If you dislike the coach and the administration, move to another team. That is a really stupid analogy that I am tired of you making.

See: KSU reaction to Callahan statement.

  8. Too early to make too big of a prediction, but you can chalk up 2 losses to USC and UT. Probably a couple of un-inspiring early wins like last year (Maine, Pitt, Wake). Tough time winning road games. More of the same on offense (300 ypg, 24 ppg??), I dont think that special teams will improve, probably worsen some, and the D will have to hold on to keep NU afloat.

NU is in a dogfight with ISU, and since NU has to play in Ames, that game is a at the very least a tossup. NU probably wins the North by default, as K St and CU with new coaches, and KU losing alot of players are mediocre. Mizzou might be a suprise team, as losing Smith may benefit the program.

I wouldnt bet on having 5(??) bowl teams from the North this year.

NU likely will have a similar team to the last 2.

  9. Adams flat out isnt D-1 talent. He doenst have the speed that Stuntz did, he wont sniff the field at either qb or fs.

As for Moore and Jackson, it seems as if the multiple position changes hasnt really helped them out much, has it? Probably more of a hindrance. :dumdum

I dont have a problem with Josh chosing to go to K St, if he doesnt want to be at NU, dont go there. I do have a problem how it was handled. He and his father should have been men about it, and told billy slash personally, that is classless. Maybe if billy slash was a better recruiter and actually had 2 or 3 highly rated qb recruits last year, he wouldnt be so bitter about losing this one.

Secondly, this is not national news... The only people who are even aware that these comments were made are people in the states of Nebraska and Kansas and possibly in some other big twelve states.

    1) Youre wrong

    2) What does it matter if it is a "local story" or a "national story"?? I can see K St or other schools using that quote to beat NU out of recruits. billy slash has made a habit of making classless, idiotic comments, maybe he should take a class in etiquette and manners.

It doesnt matter if Callahan was a saint, the coaches and players in teh big twelve are not going to give him the same kind of respect that they gave TO.

    Nor does he deserve it.

We are getting more positive publicity this summer than we have had since 2001 honestly at the national level, so I am not concerned about a little comment that Callahan made to some local reporters.

So why risk putting a black eye on the positive publicity??? :dumdum

P.S. I dont agree with alot of the actions that our President takes, and will be the first to tell you which, but there is a big difference. I don't get to pick what country I live in,

Again you are wrong, dead wrong. You have the freedom to leave at any time, nobody is forcing you to stay. Actually, if you dont love the USA, you are one of the major problems with this country, and I beg you to leave.

and if I could it wouldn't be in this one at this point.

While the USA is not perfect and has its problems, it is THE BEST country in the history of this world. Go to France, Canada, or some other socialist honey-hole.

If you dislike the coach and the administration, move to another team.

Or do what you can to fix the one you enjoy.

That is a really stupid analogy that I am tired of you making.

Its not exact, but its similiar. Im sorry you lack the intellect to understand the analogy.

  11. I couldnt resist. If billy slash is so devoted to the team, maybe he should have wore an NU shirt during his spring practice press conference.  :dumdum

    Superficial.

Disagree. When you are the HC, supposed leader of the program, you wear team gear when represent the program publicly, be it a school sweater, a polo shirt, a jacket, etc., or when in suit, wear a team-colored tie or a lapel logo pin.

If youre out to dinner with the wife, at the store, or mowing the grass, he can wear all the Raiders or Wisconsin stuff he wants. But when representing the program, he needs to be in gear that represents the program. That goes for ANY coach.

  12. lol coming from you Former why don't you support your team by posting on the Ohio bobcat web site.  Or get behind the nebraska head coach Bill Callahan

    Hilarious. :rollin

I do no more than agree with a couple of other posters, and look what I get.

Question: do you support everything President Bush does, or are you not an American??

hmm yes he is our president so for the best interest of the united states I am behind him. Do I agree with everything he does no, you see I just don't go to a online board nit picking everything he does. Also I learned a lesson a long time ago you will be alot happier in life if you don't worry about something you can't control.

I was just curious about the "absolute-ist" attitude displayed by quite a few of NU fans. IMO, you dont have to like the coach, or the AD, or the QB, or the....you get the point, to support the team.

I forgot man he hasn't posted here in awhile I Forgot to get my FF bs filter back up and running.

Youre right, I havent posted for awhile. While I am not "bigger than the board," I have read quite a few of the posts, and I can say that beyond a shadow of a doubt, the board is better with me contributing. :thumbs

  13. lol coming from you Former why don't you support your team by posting on the Ohio bobcat web site. Or get behind the nebraska head coach Bill Callahan

I do no more than agree with a couple of other posters, and look what I get.

  14. I think this is a positive as far as team chemisry goes.  The players will see that Callahan is 100% devoted to them, making him someone they want to play for.  I think most players would be glad he's sticking up for the team.

I couldnt resist. If billy slash is so devoted to the team, maybe he should have wore an NU shirt during his spring practice press conference. :dumdum

Just curious, but how was BC sticking up for the team by insulting Freeman? I think that there are plenty of other ways of earning player respect. Are you saying that the team would not be 100% behind him if he did not do this kind of stuff?

    Couldnt agree with you more.

As for the rest of it, I agree with Eric and Redman. Did billy slash make some funny comments, sure. Should he have made them publicly, hell no. Many of you are so sensitive to having fans be critical of the program, how it affects the players, recruits, etc (what do recruits think when they read this stuff on the I-net). What does it tell recruits when you decide NOT to go to NU (God forbid, and go to K St), its okay for the head coach who is supposed to be a role model for 17-22 yr old young men to publicly chastise you for your decision. :wtf

billy slash needs to start keeping his rude and demeaning comments to himself. Thats not the way I want the U of N portrayed. <_<

  15. haha no wonder you are a former fan you have no confidence at all.

I look at things realistically, but I dont have much confidence in this coaching staff.

Live in the present former....everytime a thread is started you and some of your troll buddies just try to throw jabs in about the past.

Past?? So the 2005 season is too far in the past to discuss??? Or can we only discuss the 2 GOOD games that this team has had under this staff

  16. Why is it so hard for some Nebraska fans to realize that Nebraska is now back? Of the 4 losses last year, next year brings 2 of them to Lincoln and the other 2 arent on the schedule. Oklahoma and TT were both very close games and just think if nebraska wouldnt have gotten down so early. I realize the USC and Texas take the place of TT and Oklahoma but both will be a lot less experienced as last year and how can you not be optimistic after the alamo bowl?

Why, because NU only played 2 teams that ended up in the top 25 last year, and lost them, both, at home. And they got destroyed by freaking Kansas :wtf If you call that BACK then you must not have much knowledge of Husker history.

Statistically the O was worse in 05 than it was in 04, and if I remember correctly, NU is something like 3-8 under this staff on the road. More than a few ?????? there.

PS- I forgot to add, this is also the team that gave up 480 yards to Brad Smith. Not V Young, not R Bush.........Brad Smith <_<

  17. 2) The staff from 03 was not the staff from 02, the guys who quit recruiting were shown the door, and the NC "fired" himself as the OC (supposedly  ) That 03 staff was light-years ahead of what currently is in Lincoln.

If they were "light-years" ahead how in the world did they only go 10-3 where as this pathetic coaching staff went 8-4????

The 03 staff had much, much, much, much, MUCH, less talent to work with, remember??

  18. That is such an absurd thing to say. Remember 2002, 7-7?

What do you say about that?

What about that POS, horrible staff that brought YOUR beloved Huskers from a decent 11-3, to nearly a losing season? What does that say about coaching?

    1) The 02 team lost TONS of talent from the 01 team (Crouch, Fonoti, etc--Hochstein??) not a handful of players (that according to some werent any good anyhow) like the 03-04 transition.

    2) The staff from 03 was not the staff from 02, the guys who quit recruiting were shown the door, and the NC "fired" himself as the OC (supposedly  ) That 03 staff was light-years ahead of what currently is in Lincoln.

    ;)

  19. Believe what? That "big names" are mainly a product of overhype? I can't know what you are trying to say with that.

Im saying that if you honestly believe that these are the recruits that this staff was going after, then :smokin . If that were true, then why were the guys previously mentioned offered??

We might as well discuss whether soft tacos are better than hard tacos.

    Soft, gracias :cheers

What is wrong with bringing Kenny Wilson in here? It doesn't hurt to have a lot of choices. Crap what if our RB spot is hit by injuries like the LB spot was this year?

Nothing would be wrong with it, if you didnt have 4 other JRs and Soph RBs who are supposed to be highly talented. If they brought in a FR to RS, then I would be cool with it, but adding another JR just adds to the logjam.

Also you are probably the ONLY person I've heard complain about bringing in the WR's we did. If you don't believe we needed to upgrade our WR corp then you are crazy. Mulkey and Peterson are nice players but there isn't a team gameplanning to stop them. Anyone that watched us could tell we needed a game changer at WR.

Im not denying that, but Holt and his OG-like speed wont be a game changer. Purify might be wonderful, if he qualifies and if he turns out better than the majority of JUCOs (big ???). Henrys speed make him a decent prospect (best WR IMO), but if he was a really great player, I would assume other teams besides UTEP would have been in on him,

The paper also stated that Thenarse, Young, Culburt, and West could play either Safety or CB so that would add depth to the THIN spot you talk about.

And the last time a true FR made an impact on one of the safety positions (started) was......... <_<

  20. The 03 team would have beat Michigan??? Id wager on that. We would be lucky to score...

There certainly is no way to tell, so you can assume all you want. Im sure they would have fared pretty well against a 7-5 team.

One fact I know is that the 03 team didnt lose to KU by 25. :thumbs

  21. I don't know where you got that number for 02, but rivals lists an average rating of 2.95.

I dunno either :dumdum must have hit a wrong link, or I have beer googles on :cheers .

Also, have you ever seen Ganz play to know that he isn't a D-1 Caliber player?

Im not saying he sucks, but lets be honest, he wouldnt have started at UNO. Can you really see any of the last 3 (Davis, Ganz, Adams) qbs getting any significant playing time barring a serious injury??

  22. I'm just curious to why people are not looking at NU and realizing they are a team on the rise.

Simply because this staff took a 10-3 team that returned the majority of its starters to is worst record in 40 years. And they havent gotten much better (worse in some areas) in the 2+ years since this staff has been here. The team still isnt as good as it was prior to this staff being brought on campus.

Callahan and the staff have done a wonderfu job recruiting and bringing the team up.

1 highly rated class, 2 average classes. The team has won quite a few games despite poor gameplans, poor teaching, and lack of motivation from its "leaders."

Next year could prove to be a huge season for the Cornhuskers as they easily could go 10-2 and im very confident that usc or texas could fall to them

    I'd wager on that <_<
