  1. True Blue refers to nobility, actually. In the way-before time when royals intermarried there were a lot of children born with hemophilia and/or anemia. Both conditions tend to make one very fair skinned with veins that were quite prominent (not to mention lack of exposure to the sun since few nobels engaged in manual labor).

The blue tinge of the vein led to the belief that the noble blood was blue, thus "True Blue" means of noble blood.

    Or something like that...

  2. Does collect imply there were multiples of the thing being retrieved?

Was the thing which the man was collecting an animal (including a person/people)?

Did the destruction of the house occur within a single day?

    A few hours?

    A few minutes?

    More than one day?

Was the house destroyed utterly (as in, no walls or roof remained)?

Were the contents of the house also destroyed?

If so, did the thing which destroyed the house also destroy the contents of the house?

  3. I've paid for Rivals and Scouts.com before. Truth to tell, the same info was usually available on free sites within a few hours (sometimes even *before* the pay sites). There might be some exclusive, Husker-only sites out there that are worth the coins, but as far as the big pay sites that support multiple teams, the information is seldom exclusive for long.

The exception is the commentary, of course. I would say that if you like a particular writer, it might be worth a 1 month subscription in Feburary and August for the recruiting/pre-season analysis. Besides that, I haven't found much value in them.

  4. First concert I ever went to - Styx on the Kilroy Was Here tour at the Notre Dame ACC (my big brother took me...great time). Only show on that tour they did an encore....awesome.

Had this cool opening movie (the story of Johnathan Chance, the Majority for Musical Morality, etc) that segwayed onto the stage live and then did a "flashback" to the last concert at the Paradise Theater (which became the actual concert). Really cool idea, and a great band live.

  5. YAY!

I thought this was going towards St. Valentine (also martyred by a Roman judge) until I paid more attention to the release of the convicted man in the clue. I also remember hearing some story about biscotti being snuck into prison to feed a wrongfully imprisoned De Medici, but I didn't think it fit the confectioners bit too well.

    Thanks again, slacker!

  6. The judge was Pilate who released Barrabas (who was guilty) and sentenced Jesus (who was innocent) to die.

Jesus's subsequent resurrection is celebrated at Easter with the traditional giving of candies.

  7. Agree with skers here...next year (and '06) will be the telling times to really know for sure. If there's improvement next year (6 or 7 wins) I'll be satisfied with that. Another 4 win year, and I'll be a disgruntled camper.

8 or more wins though, and I'll happily eat crow for all the bad things I've said about Cally and his crew. :)

  8. The farmer was not particularly bright, so he could only count on his fingers and toes (20). Since he didn't know multiplication either, he expressed the number of pigs (40) as "twenty twenty".

  9. It appears ND is having a very good year so far. Super Bowl coaches draw attention. I look for ND to start a major turn around in the next year.

Yeah, Weis is doing pretty good. I'm especially happy about getting Aldridge. It will take a few years to get the big recruits in, but every bit helps (and I suspect that some of those 3-star players start looking like 4/5 stars once they get some top-notch coaching).

Seems that Calahan and crew are nailing it this year as well - it'll be hard to beat the 35 schollies from last year, but at the rate he's going, he'll have his own hand-picked starting roster by '07 and then we'll see what he can really do.
