  1. their walk on's had financial funding for college through sponsorships from different entities (not being the university) in the state.

You mean like doing autograph signings for money?  :)

It seems obvious that cost of education is the real factor undermining a walk on program (and the reason I think we saw the Maverick program disbanded... same with a successful wrestling program).  Are you going to rack up to $80k or more in debt, for just a CHANCE to earn a scholarship?  Or go to another non power 5 school, with a full scholarship... so you can be guaranteed to be prepared for and go on to your lucrative non-football career later on, debt free.

Best you can hope for is to find a talented kid with a relatively affluent family behind them.

  2. POB and Gebbia are pro-style... moving around/outside of the pocket is one thing... running zone-read is different thing entirely.   Someone needs to start a JUCO QB watch thread.

Speaking of which, Andrew Bunch might actually become the 'go to' guy.

    Gruden-Saban-Osborne

How does Gruden even belong with those names?

    Answer:  He Doesn’t.

He basically has no college coaching experience and is a career .500 NFL coach. I’d go crazy if my AD gave this guy $5M.  But he’s great on TV.

Beat me to it... literally another Callahan.  Tennessee making huge mistake if they go for Gruden.  Reminds me of Kiffen, high visibility coordinators who never could succeed in position of head coach.  History is littered with them.   Let's avoid that mistake again ourselves.

  4. Please stop talking about Shaw.  There is NO way Shaw leaves Stanford to come here.  He's Stanford alum, well paid, doing great, great recruiting pool around him, loved by the fans, living in paradise.  The NFL is the only move he'd consider making under current circumstances.

And it's laughable that someone suggests that Leach would 'generate major excitement'.  That's really sad.

Scott may not want the scrutiny. Or deal with the toxicity.

He will remember those who never forgave him for going to Stanford. He will remember the grumbling after the Arizona State debacle. And he'll certainly remember the game against the team he's currently coaching where people wanted him benched for Frankie London.

I can't imagine the decision is easy for him with those things still in his mind somewhere.

I know most of us look back on his time here as successful, and it certainly was.... but we all had to warm up to him. He may have to warm back up to all of us.

The more I think about it... the more I think the most likely scenario is his simply staying at UCF.  He's a new father, they love him there, giving him a big raise, expectations not 'Power-5 crazy'... he's got all sorts of talent around him... and Florida weather.

Yeah, I think he stays where he's at.

  6. I don't know why anyone is expecting to see Frost named this weekend, certainly... whatever happens, it won't be announced until after the AAC title game.  On the other hand, if Frost has made up his mind in a way which will shock Husker fans, that shock may materialize in the early announcement of someone else entirely. ;)

  7. Turner Gill, seriously?

Chip Kelley, no chance he comes here, forget about culture, completely wrong fit

Les Miles, getting old, forget about culture

Kevin Steele, do we want to try the first time HC experiment again?  Does he even want to be a HC?

Brent Venables, do we want to try the first time HC experiment again?

  8. Matt Campbell ... or even bring Craig Bohl back.

Personally, I'm a tiny bit concerned that the local pool of talented athletes may be artificially boosting Frost's success at UCF anyway.  I'm sure it's been discussed, that the winless season was almost a bigger anomaly at UCF, than this year's season is.  Don't get me wrong... I want Frost.
