  1. I understand the keeping your comments respectful part but does anyone else feel like penn st has gotten the sympathy card way too much this year?

Yeah it wasn't the players fault but they still represent the ugliest and dirtiest program / institution in the country. I never cared for penn st before but I will forever condemn a program that allowed those things to happen. Less than a year from the story and it's not even talked about by the media other than the mention of the "scandal" and how tough their scholly loss will be.

I'm sorry but that program aided and covered up unforgivable acts. I have a hard time respecting anyone associated with the program because it is PENN ST. I know that's a ME issue but the media has been kind to psu this season IMO.

I agree with you, but its not the thread to discuss that in. They got what they deserved and will always be tarnished.

I could see Wisc resting guys in the 2nd quater. If i were a coach I would, Penn st isnt playing for anything and you have a conference championship you could STEAL and get to play in the Rose bowl.

  2. Sweet baby Jebus, Enhance--any way you can just update the thread title and put 'spoilers' in it so we're not having to hide each and every one of our posts? LOL...

    As for Mordin--

There's no way to save him, per my understanding.

As for the ending... (long exposition but I cover all the points I think...)--

Yes, it's a crock of s**t that EA forced everyone into using their 'online pass' for multiplayer, because that's the only way you can realistically get your readiness up to where you get the "good" "meh" "least s****y"? ending where Shepard is still alive and takes a breath.

FYI, for the "least s****y" ending, you have to pick destruction, and have your war assets above 4500 (if you convince the Illusive Man to pull a Saren, which requires strong Paragon or Renegade), or 5500 if you can't get the IM to pull a Saren.

And no, the ending makes no sense, and there's no closure. What happens to your dextro-based squadmates (Garrus, Tali) on Eden 2.0? I guess they starve to death after their food runs out while Joker, Edi, Ashley (really--did *anyone* save Kaiden?), and the rest of the crew watch on since the ship is broke and the Mass Effect relays blew up?

And why the holy f**k is Joker in the ship with your squadmates, anyway? Did he abandon the fight and directly disobey Shepard's last order?

Plus, the destroy ending has you taking out the Geth as well. What the holy f***k?!?! If you have a high enough Paragon or Renegade, you can save the Geth and you find out later via Tali that they're working hand in hand (or AI in environmental suit, as it were) with the Quarians to get them shelter, food, and to get themselves acclimated back to their homeworld. And now in the "best" ending you f*****g have to kill them because they're synthetics and hey, "in order to make an omelet, you have to break a few eggs"? F**k you, EA and BioWare.

And what about the whole f*****g fleet that you spent the whole game amassing that's now hanging out around a f****d up Earth? What are they going to do--the Mass Relays were blown up, so it's going to take them months or years (per established canon) to slog it home via FTL. Hell, it may take the Quarians the better part of an Earth decade to get back to their home planet they *just* took back but left anyway to help out Shepard and Earth. And you still have food/supply issues, again, including the dextro-based lifeforms (whose Earth foods, whatever is left, won't support).

And finally, the Mass Effect relays--when they go 'boom', they take out an entire solar system (see Arrival DLC's aftermath and the Batarian homeworld). Since the Mass Relays were at the edge of many of these established homeworlds, wouldn't the Turian and Asari homeworlds be taken out? (Note: Our relay was a little beyond Pluto, past the asteroid belt, so I *suppose* that our Solar System could still be around, sans a few planets like Pluto, Neptune, Saturn, Uranus...and wouldn't an explosion like that be enough to ignite Jupiter? Or am I getting too 2001 in here?)

    ---

Mind you, I don't want, nor expect a happy, Hollywood ending with blue Asari babies (yeah, my FemShep got it on with Liara--don't hate) and Wrex (yeah, I saved his ass in ME1--don't hate) baking me a f*****g cake. I just want concrete answers about the aftermath that conform with established canon. That isn't too f*****g hard to do...that is, unless you're on a tight deadline and EA wants you to shoe-horn in MP so they have an excuse to put an online pass into the game.

Matt, the way I interpreted it, was that the mass relays just sent out the "effect" you chose. Like if you chose the red it would destroy all reapers in that vicinity. Thats the problem with the ending though, its too ambiguous and leaves everyone wondering what exactly happened.

Check again--the relays blow up when they shoot their neon-colored death across the galaxy.

See at 2:05 to 2:15 or so--pieces of the relay go flying out from the neon-colored death ray explosion:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPhWndG6EIY

The only difference I know of that's substantial is that in the 'control' ending, the Citadel remains intact (but the Mass Relays still go boom).

Yeah I suppose you could be right. Aside from the endings, this game was probably the most fun i've had playing a game though. I'm excited to see the DLC coming out for it. AS LONG AS ITS FREAKIN FREE. f*ck EA.

  4. Eve is a great character, I agree.

I was really sad to see Mordin die while curing the genophage, but that was probably one of my favorite missions. I'm glad the krogan have someone who will show them the error of their ways.

I was definitely sad to see Mordin die, him being the first character I recruited in ME2 and used the most on missions in that game there was kind of a vested interest in him. I would usually talk to him after every mission just to further the plot line as much as possible. Curious though, on that mission you had the option of not telling him about the sabotage, I wonder if that would've saved him. Also, I was going to tell Eve about the sabotage when I was first prompted, but when asked again I decided to ignore it. Wonder if things would've turned out differently had I said something. But yeah, that mission has thus far been my favorite, the Thresher Maw taking down the Reaper was pretty awesome. And lol, I ran by all those Brutes to activate the hammers, no way was I taking them on.

My friend who played through ME2 said he couldn't save him either, i'm guessing only that prothean dude from the DLC would be the only way to do save him

  5. Enhance--

That's not the Rachni Queen. She's a construct of the Reapers harvesting the Rachni and says as much in her exposition (if you killed the actual Rachni Queen in ME1). And yes, she'll turn on you, and you lose the possibility of saving Grunt and Aralakai Group as well (if Grunt was loyal to you in ME2) for war assets.

Now, if you save the Rachni Queen in ME1, she'll be who you're talking to (and unindoctrinated to boot, IIRC), and I believe you can recruit the Rachni for the war effort at this point without any negative repercussions.

    As for the ending...

The ending is a crock of s**t. ME3 was exceptionally good, save for the last 15 minutes (anything after the missile/survival/pounding you take on Earth--four brutes and four banshees my f*****g arse. Even Blasto isn't that f******g good.).

And here are some images that sum up the craptacular ending:

    mass_effect_fail_by_akael-d4t0nrx.png

did you play through ME2? I just got it for cheap and started playing it to get some characters I missed out on with ME3 but yeah.. the ending....

were you as confused as I was? how the hell did my crew make off earth that fast, and I thought hackett was killed by that reaper, cause you hear your radio saying something like "everyone got decimated".

also I read that they're "fixing" the ending now. Either way I didnt like how Shepard has to die in every single one (unless your war assets are high enough).

Such a great game until then, hopefully they fix the plot holes in the new ending and hopefully its free.

  6. As far as the three RBs go:

Heard hasn't had many opportunities, so at the moment, it seems fair to give him an incomplete evaluation.

Abdullah on the other hand, hasn't seen the field almost at all as an RB. If he's four on the depth chart, I don't know if I'd expect to ever see too much of him.

Green honestly looks like he has better RB skills than Abdullah. Not saying AA won't be a good player, he will be Jrodgers 2.0 for all I'm hoping. But Green looks to be the standout at RB at this point with the superior skillset for a running back. The way he ran, and how he broke that tackle on his touchdown run, he's looking to be outstanding.

I like what I've seen from Aaron Green the most (as far as the running backs, at least).

very true. the sweeps he had in the washington game though ( at least i'm pretty sure it was him and not aaron) he looked really good, he had like 3 or 4 consecutive 7 (ish?) yard gains. so it was good to see he has some durability.

Also Jamaal should probably get an incomplete evaluation, the touches he got though he made plays. the great thing about this is all these freshman skill players have had limited touches but they all made really nice plays. hopefully this will mean defenses worrying less about taylor and we can actually run a decently consistent offense. Time will tell once we're playing big 10 defenses, i'm sure these guys will make a lot of freshman mistakes collectively, but thats just the risk with young players.

i'm gonna give my vote to abdullah just because the immediate impact he brought to ST.

  7. 1) I actually think I have more hope and excitement to see what our young WR's and young RB's can do this year than what our defense will be able to do this year. Is this the year the offense will have to save the defense's poor play?

    2) I am shocked at how poorly the defense has played. I now realize why Blackshirts have not been handed out.

    3) Same learning as last week...little to no pressure on the QB is going to make for a long day, especially against a young secondary. Baker and Ankrah need to show me more on the DL. Fisher needs to step up. Green is getting absolutely abused out there. We have truly been spoiled on defense last few years... we have gone from playmakers all over the defense to a DL who can't get pressure or stuff the run, slow LB's, and DB's who can't cover.

    4) I have an uncanny ability to exactly predict when the opposition is going to throw at Green for a big play.

    5) Love how our WR's made some good catches today.

    6) Tmart is smart (at least getting better with decisions today).

    7) A stable of young fast backs is really going to help us.

    8) Rex is still a junkyard dog who wins you the game.

    9) Third week in a row...Jamal Turner needs to see the field more!

    10) Brandon Kinnie where are you?

    11) Maher is playing great.

good point, i'm starting to wonder if he'll get lost in the shuffle this year

  8. It'll be all about the projections this year. In '09, Asante and O'Hanlon didn't start out the year as dependable cogs in our secondary, but they finished as a great tandem and just another bright spot on that defense.

Could it happen this year with Cassidy and Osborne?

Osborne and Cassidy remind me a little of Asante and O'hanlon actually. Courtney's able to lay the wood and Cassidy should be able to play free safety as well as o'hanlon did IMO. Overall I'd say our secondary should be pretty solid this year, the depth part worries me a little though.

  9. Andrew Perloff of SportsIllustrated has Crick going 10th in next year's draft:

    10. Washington Redskins: Jared Crick, DT, Nebraska

Crick had 17 tackles for a loss and 9.5 sacks last season despite constant double-teams. His best fit in the NFL will be 3-4 end, but he could also slide over to tackle in a 4-3.

    LINK

The highest Big Ten player he has listed is Iowa's Riley Reiff (OT) at #7. I don't know if Reiff and Crick will line up against each other, but it would be a hell of a battle if they did.

Wasn't Riley Reiff committed to Nebraska for awhile? makes ya wonder if he would have stayed aboard

  10. The final rosters for Saturday's Red-White Spring Game were unveiled Thursday morning. The teams were selected by some of the 2011 Huskers seniors Wednesday afternoon and were finalized following Thursday's morning practice - the final workout for the Huskers before Saturday's 1 p.m. game.

The Red team features big-play ability on offense with quarterback Taylor Martinez, wide receiver Brandon Kinnie and tight end Kyler Reed highlighting the offensive returning starters. The team also has a pair of experienced offensive tackles in Jermarcus Hardrick and Marcel Jones. The defense is anchored by a ball-hawking secondary which features all-conference cornerback Alfonzo Dennard and safeties Austin Cassidy and Courtney Osborne.

The White team, which is looking to snap a five-game losing streak in the series, features strong play at the line of scrimmage. Senior center Mike Caputo and tight end Ben Cotton will look to break open some holes for I-back Rex Burkhead and quarterback Cody Green. On defense, Baker Steinkuhler and Terrence Moore anchor a defensive front, while All-American linebacker Lavonte David and Will Compton give the White team a physical defensive presence.
