  1. In the article he talks about how close he is to Wats, does this change anyone's view on getting rid of him? I've never thought wats was the problem. The play calling could use some tweaking for sure but the line and the WR's need better coaching before the quarterbacks IMO.

  2. Here's my opinion:

    Play Calling:

    - Passing on 1st down - keep a defense guessing instead of running with the RB or QB every 1st down situation

    - screen plays - take some pressure of the QB and let the other skill players get some yards

    Taylor Martinez: where to begin...

    - Footwork and mechanics

    -Pre-snap reads

    - pocket presence

    - leadership and attitude (possibly the most important)

    Rest of Offense:

-Turnovers and penalties killed us the most this year

-Line Play needs to improve, not sure what exactly the problem is though

    - WR's need to be more consistent, losing Niles and McNeil will definitely hurt in 2011

Those are the main changes I could think of, any others?

  3. Do you know what I think about Taylor Martinez?

He is fast.........and needs a competent QB coach to develop his passing ability. Don't give me any Joe Ganz stuff, either. Jay Norvell and Bill Callahan and Ganz's work ethic developed him. Not the OC that won't be named.

He needs more than a QB coach to develop his passing ability.... he needs a miracle worker

  4. what are you basing this thread off of? pure speculation and rumor?

hes 20 years old, and you guys want him to come in and be an instant leader. do you have any idea how difficult it is to earn the respect of upper classmen as a first year starter? please, lower your standards for the first year freshman RS starter

The QB at Tennessee is just as young and did a great job of rallying his line in their bowl game. How many times have you seen Taylor even talk to his line or recievers?

  5. If Taylor is healthy, he has absolutely earned the start. That said I think we all know that he's unlikely to be back to his old self next week. Given that, I say go ahead and give Cody the start. Let him build his confidence and rapport with the starting unit this week. We'll have Rex backing him up from the Rexcat and run some big power formations -- I like our odds against next week.

    This.

Start cody. Taylor has been seen limping still and Cody might finally be getting over his jitters. Let Green keep gaining confidence, winning a conference championship should help with that. If Taylors back to taylor by bowl time, start him.

  6. After putting alot of thought into this I think we need to establish a consistent running game. Whether Green or Martinez start that's the key to me. OU's running defense has been pretty decent. Also no way we can win this game if we don't cause any turnovers. I think Stoops will have em running the ball alot more in this game. If thats the case with Murray a little banged up it doesn't mean they can't run the ball, Finch is a pretty nice runningback. I also think OU will sell out to stop our run game, with Green at QB i'm not sure how i feel about that. Cody can def throw the ball around, he has the arm to do it, sometimes he needs to tune down the cannon a little but if he has any touch on the throws he makes this game i think we can tear them apart on offense. Honestly this game could go either way and i'm really looking forward to it. Our D has got to put some pressure on Landry but that will be tough because he gets rid of the ball pretty fast. I think NU has to put together a nearly perfect game to come out of Dallas with a win but so will Oklahoma. The skers will be ready though and this will be a great game, my prediction NU 17 OU 10-14 pts. Either way i couldn't be happier with our last big 12 matchup! GBR!!!

  7. looks like we dropped two spots ESPN

I didn't think we'd drop that much but it's hard to put us ahead of Ohio state, Michigan St, LSU, and Stanford. Doesn't mean much though, just keep winning.

EDIT: oops sorry, meant Wisconsin not Michigan St.

maybe we should just worry about the next game!

note the just keep winning part
