  1. I like the fact that they dont even go into detail about the games or team or anything. They just simply run down the list of scores. Like we dont need to go into detail about how good they were, the scores from the season alone tell you why The 1971 and 1995 Huskers deserve such a high ranking on the perfect teams.

  2. I saw the mock draft on the site before i came over here, interesting to see where the NU players might be for the Draft. However i a little bit concerned here. I didnt see a few husker names on the list, Steinkuhler for one isnt on that list but Potter is, and Larry Asante is projected for 2010, however i thought this 08' season was his last year with NU, but i guess after seeing his name on the Spring Game roster, he is here for another year.

  3. In the end, though, many reports indicate Witt wasn't the best QB at the position anyway, so this whole thing is probably moot. We may have only just let a career backup walk out the door. Hard to say for sure, but as far as character goes, we might have just saved ourselves some real heartache down the road.

I agree with you, Witt is out the door, lets now look to the future which is Lee or Green. Major rep points to Bo for showing Witt, the team and fans how tough of a coach he is.

If what was said about Crouch bullying Solich into begging him to come back, i had no idea that was case, but thats pretty sad. However it does make sense though. When he got drafted by the Rams as a CB, he was pissed and threaten to leave if they didnt make him QB, but he got injured and was let go by the team.

  4. This is how i feel about the Big 12 North.

Nebraska - has lost its way but thanks to a better coaching staff is finding the path back to greatness.

Missouri - has enjoy the last few season stomping over everyone in the rest of the division, well that time has come to end Tigers.

Colorado - also has enjoyed the lack luster of the NU program, but we proved this year that things have changed.

Iowa State - was in the same boat as us a year ago, but thankfully we jumped ship, hopefully they can find that path to being competitve.

Kansas - was out of the loop too, but they found themselves a Cindrella story a few seasons ago as the #1 team in NCAA and almost went to a NT game.

Kansas State - used to be good, they had a few upsets over the past couple of seasons by beating Texas, hopefully they can find the light switch.

I respect every fan-base with the exception of the Texas Longhorns, grrrr.

  5. yea, it seems to me that the Witts tried to play Bo and the coaches into a corner to force him to make a decision on the QB, but Bo dont play that crap. :)

Its sad that it came down to this, but clearly leaving is the right choice for Witt. Ive learned that you really cant trust anyone but yourself and you need to look out for yourself all the time. Clearly Witt is looking out for himself, he wants to find a place that isnt so competitve and a team that wants him to start without competing very much for the job. D1AA would be a great place for that kid who is in that mindset to not compete for the QB but just rather have it given to him.

I think the main reason people want to see Green start this year, cuz they feel he might be the next McCoy or something. Ive never heard of Nebraska starting a true freshman. Anyone have an instance please let me know. The way i remember the QB starting positions since i started watching NU play, was Frazier, Frost, Newcombe, Crouch, Lord......i dont remember after that until Zac Taylor and so forth, and everyone one of those guys was not a true freshman who came into the season as a starter.

Lee and Spano are the two top picks, Green needs a year to learn the offense that is setup for NU right now. My gut tells me that after Witt is transfering, Lee is going to be the pick with Spano backing up as #2. I will rout for Green in '10 to take the #2 spot from Spano and backup Lee for his senior year, and then watch Spano and Green battle it out for the starting position in '11.

Good Luck Witt where ever you go.

Anyone know what seniors are going in the draft this year?

  6. Yea i felt that Witt would have been a great choice for the starting QB spot, but from what ive read about Witt's father remarks, and what Bo said in his statement, i feel there is an underlying issue to his departure.

If it was a football program thing or he felt he didn't feel comfortable with the system, i dont think he would need so much secrecy to his departure from the program.

But Witt-aside, Spano, Lee, and Green are thr front-runners and it will be interesting to see the spring game and how they perform out there on the field.

  7. finally got around to re-buying a Xbox-360 Elite. After spending Saturday night updating rosters with names for the NU players, i played the season up to Missouri. Everything was cool, until i played the Tigers. Man i almost had a panic attack with that game. The score by the half was 14-24, which doesnt sound like much, but the offense just wasnt clicking, receivers were dropping passes, backs couldnt find open room to run, it was horrible, the only offensive score was by Lucky and that was within the first 5 min of the 1st. Finally late in the 3rd, Lucky broke out into the middle of the field and 34 yds for a touchdown untouched. 21-24, Defense held Tigers to the 14 and forced a FG, 21-27. I decided to try the recievers again and hope that Ganz didnt get picked off again. Threw a long lobe pass to Swift on a straight route 43yds and he catches it in the endzone with that famous NCAA one handed catch. 28-27, my first lead of the game. In the 4th, Lucky again gets a quick pass to the side from Ganz and takes it 32 yds for the touchdown, 35-27. Now it looks like my victory is secured. NO, Tigers rally down the field within the last 2 min to score a touchdown, 33-35. Now, they go for the two points, for the tie. Knowing Missouri and how they love to pass the ball, i setup a tough zone in the endzone, but it was Suh who deflected the pass from the line and saved the game. With time winding down with 30 secs left, i kneeled twice and called it a day. Not since i played Texas on NCAA 2008 have i been worried about losing an important game like that. Missouri was ranked #4, and i wasnt ranked, Missouri went to #14 and i went to #19. Next game will be Texas Tech.

  8. I wonder why the roster said Witt was a Redshirt Freshman for 2008 and Lee was a sophmore? Oh well i guess if both of them were redshirted last year as freshman then they will both be sophmores next year. It will be interesting to see how things turn out. Remember Bo knows Nebraska.

  9. Niles Paul stats for the year - 23 catches for 214 yds with a 9.3 yd avrg

41 kick returns for 469 yds with a 26.1 yd avrg and 1 TD ret. Keep in mind that was the only kick return for a TD this season!

Wanna take away his scholarship for ONE fumbled punt return? i dont think so, this is guy is staying and i cant wait to see how well he does next year, those stats prove he is a valuable player for his first year at Nebraska.

  10. My money is on Witt. I think it will come down to Lee (Jr) or Witt (Soph). KODY Spano didnt see any playing time at all during the 2008 season. Only Witt and Lee did behind Ganz, not to mention Witt was labeled as the backup to Ganz, but who knows, there is alot of time until the next season so it will be interesting to see what happens in the battle for the starting QB position, i dont think Cody Green is going to be starter, if he isnt redshirted he might see some playing time in the earlier games when Witt or Lee or Spano runs up the score.

Statistically Witt has seen more playing time than Lee has, Witt played in 5 games and was 6-8 for 48 yards with his longest pass 23 yds, Lee on the other hand has played 2 games 1-2 for 5 yds.

As for Witt's little playing time during the bowl game, well i give him some slack, freshman QB going out there during a big game like that can be a bit intimidating for him, he is lucky it was ruled a sack but its a lesson that i think he wont forget.

  12. Yea, Grixby could have been better if he had a proper coaching staff to help me realize his true potential, does anyone know what happened to his little brother from Central, did he go to Nebraska or another college team?

  13. Man, i was still in middle school when Scott Frost was playing. Ha, that was back in the day when the only reason i was a Husker fan was because my grandpa didnt like them. But i guess after +10 years of that i've become an all out hardcore fan.

I'll never forget his final game against Tennesse during the Orange Bowl.

Speaking about the time Scott Frost played whatever happened to Bobby Newcombe "Big Red Rock".

  14. I was told that Bill Callahan never made it to his car the day he got fired, he was rumored to have been picked up by some Husker school alumni and taken to the middle of a cornfield and never heard of again. Some say on cold nights you can hear his ghost moaning "Why? Why? Why couldn't i meet the expectations of the Husker Nation?!"

  15. Truthfully there are a good deal of players in the NFL that played while under Bill Callahan.

Adam Carriker, Jay Moore, Josh Bullocks, Bo Ruud, Zackary Bowman, Stewart Bradley, Steve Octavien, Carlos Polk, Scott Shanle, Maurice Purify. I might be missing a few more, but for the most part those are the big names i remember that stick out in my head, im pretty sure Callahan doesnt call them, but im sure Nebraska still calls them and ask them to stop by and speak to the new recruits coming in or wanting to join up. I wont say Callahan was bad at picking talent, because thats not true, he just didnt know how to get them to perform at their top levels, motivating them, and play-calling.

You could definately tell what kind of team Callahan was running when Bo took them against Oklahoma and the team looked dead to the world. I didnt like how the Husker faces looked during the first quarter of that game, but i loved the job that Bo did getting in their faces to keep them from giving up. Callahan would have never done that, he would have sat on the sidelines along with them looking like he gave up with them.

But enough talk about Callahan, thats in the past time to look forward to the Bo Era.
