  1. Minor in Possession......It sounds alot more serious than it really is...Had the long arm of the law been around me while i was in High school or the years following that god only knows what I would still be paying the price for. Yes you are a Nebraska football player and are held to a higher standard but if people think this is a life or death event they are wrong. How many people can honestly say they didnt drink underage?

I can, but that's besides the point. People aren't making this out to be life or death, they're making it out to be possible missed playing time or other punishment that is detrimental to the team. You take that, and you also take him representing the team and the university, and it is no laughing matter, regardless of how common it is.

This Mod lives in a glass house... watch out! Location: Vatican City?

People need to get a life. He wasn't driving. He's going to run stairs and be forced to do extra lifting. The End. He's twenty and he got caught pissing outside. This isn't an Andy Christensen-like event. He pee'd outside. It's hilarious how bent out of shape people get over an ARBITRARY drinking age. You can fight for your country and vote for the prez, but you can't drink alcohol... hmm sounds a little strange. I don't fret over stuff that isn't important. Like this.

Last year, the driving under the influence was a serious offense. This is a "just be smarter" talk from BO to Niles. Nothing more, nothing less.

  2. Hopefully this helps us out alittle bit. Personally I think the patch is located lower than it should be and the logo is obviously in a different spot.

wait why are we talking about the patch on the uniform of a video game :hellloooo

Same reason we're asking somebody to post the entire Athlon preview. It's the offseason and its only May

    Zing!

  3. Six years ago the Marshall family from N. Platte had a little boy. They expected to have to bury him shortly after he was born. The doctors gave the parents no hope for survival. But survive he did while enduring a lot of medical treatment and near death experiences. Today, this little boy continues to amaze all who come into contact with him. Although born into a huge Husker family, a large number of Oklahoma Sooner fans heard Ethan's story and rallied behind the family providing emotional and financial support when they were in their darkest days. It is a fascinating story about great rivalry with fans who know when to put the rivalry aside. Some of the Oklahoma coaching staff has even got involved with Ethan, although you have never read about it in the papers.

The Marshall family now needs some help. There is a car dealership that is giving away a car. Families get nominated, and their stories are then posted on their website for people to vote on. The family that gets the most votes then receives a car. Ethan Marshall's Family (his story is at Ethanmarshall.com) was nominated, and their story was selected for this month. There were over 3300 entries, and they were one of the 5 picked. The stories are posted at http://woodhouse.com/difference/vote.htm and they are Candidate #1, so if you get a chance please go online and vote and please tell all your friends! They really could use a new car. The one they have now was given to them used and they have about driven it into the ground with all the driving they do for medical treatments. Please help this great Husker family.

I would have voted for you, but it was blatantly obvious that you are the candidate. A little honesty goes a long way, sorry for your hardship.

Hmm... not sure what to make of the reply, BUT a human in need is brethren indeed. May good graces come their way.

  4. We don't even know how bad the brawl was, just the fact that he got arrested for being in it. While Goodell has been harsh on rule breakers, it's usually on their second offenses that he comes down hard. Just look at Roethlisberger, after his first assault all he got was a slap on the wrist, if that. Sure you can't compare Ben and Mo, but he's the only guy I can think about.

Agreed. And from the stories I've heard about his Lincoln trouble, there may have been many of us that "with some drink in the system" would have over reacted and stuck up for a friend.

We're talking about a missy charge of disorderly conduct. You can get that charge by yelling outside late at night and not stopping when asked to be quiet... And it was described as a scuffle. I bet he'll get a very stern warning (and rightfully so) and some Community Service type work from Roger.

    So many negative nancy's...A K A Al Franken's.

  5. As the Lions wrapped up rookie orientation today, the players did a little running. The message was clear.

“For the most part, it’s not stay in shape,” coach Jim Schwartz said, “it’s get in shape.”

It’s one thing to train for the scouting combine, pro days and private workouts. It’s another to be ready for an NFL practice. And what the rookies did over the past three days wasn’t even close to what they will do when they join the veterans.

“These guys thought they were practicing hard,” Schwartz said. “Our pace is generally three times as fast as what these guys were going through. … They didn’t really have a feeling of where they need to be to be in shape. They think they’re in good shape, and they have no idea once they get here.”

One exception might be defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, the second overall pick in the draft. He wasn’t the first one down and back during the running, but he seemed chiseled and unconcerned about the conditioning.

“I think I’m in pretty good shape,” Suh said. “They gave us a little test of what the conditioning test will be like. I don’t find it too hard to my eyes. …

“You can go back and ask our strength coach at Nebraska. I don’t miss runs. I don’t miss times. So I’m that type of guy that if I’m down, I’m going to push myself through.”

    LINK

As a life-long Husker fan and Lions fan (hard to admit I know) - I think this is cool as penguin sh!t.... GO SUH, GBR, and finally my lions have something to hang a hat on!!!

  6. racially charged does not equal racist. he may appear to be racist because his thought is unconventionally, but that does not make it automatically racist. i think it is just easier to label him a racist and dismiss what he is/trying to say than to take him seriously and give consideration to his thoughts.

Don't simply presume that I know nothing about Ernie Chambers. I know quite a bit about him; I would be surprised if anyone in this thread knows more. I'm speaking from a position of knowledge, and I am not wrong in my assessment.

that's a thought ending cliche, just to claim you know more about chambers than anyone else, and then say that you are right by the authority you have bestowed upon yourself.

i did not claim any authority on your knowledge of chambers. what i was responding to was your claim that he is racist. he is not racist and i would be surprised if anyone knew more about race relations than me. i am speaking from a position of knowledge, and i am not wrong in my assessment.

also, i never simply presume, that is why i don't presume chambers is a racist.

OK, let's put it this way. Of the two of us, one of us has a badge and works in the discrimination field. If that's not you, then you're beginning to get the point.

Oh, here comes the power trip...

  7. I wish him the best, but I just don't think he has a chance...they have some good RBs there...

I think the exact opposite - Callahan is still up there and we know Lucky is good receiver out of the backfield... not saying he will make it but he has a shot because of the history there.

Also, GO LUCKY and DO IT!!!

  8. I was just watching espn and they asked Stoops how he felt about not playing Nebraska the next two years unless we meet in the big 12 title game. All he had to say was that he was happy he didn't have to and that unless Texas does it too then he thinks it is fair competition. I know he doesn't want to lose games because we are good competition, but I wanted to hear something more about our rivalry. Apparently our rivalry doesn't matter enough to him. Sorry to hear that from the head coach of Oklahoma.

Take it as a compliment... I doubt that comment is made if you know who is the coach. GO BO!!

  9. Am I the only one that is offended about this guy attempting to sue god?

Are we serious? Where does he get off calling Suh an idiot for making a charitable donation?

Why would you be offended? Seriously, in addition to Ernie Chambers being an idiot, this COMMENT (not you personally) is sort of out of left-field... We really need to toughen up as a country if this is offensive material - stupid and pointless, yes.

Agree on the comments about Ernie - he's an intelligent man with a very stupid filter on his mouth...

Oh nevermind...this comment came from the "Intelligent Design" state... it all makes sense now.

  11. Martinez or Green.

Reasons being Martinez is from a big state with lots of competition. The coaches seem to think he's catching on pretty quick. Green because otherwise a whole lot of us in this state will have to eat our crow (myself included from his recruiting days)...

Still wouldn't surprise me that much to see Lee have a really solid year for two reasons: 1. should be healthy 2. ganz was really high on lee prior to last season. Not saying that ganz is a pro scout, but he did see day-to-day so maybe more weight should be given to the injury than I/we have given it.

In all truth, I just want someone to be ready... doesn't sound like much but then last year happened!

And - see all of you at the spring game this weekend!!! HOORAY!!! GO BIG RED!!!! GO BIG RED!!! Come pregame with Nillie and the Fam before the game!!

  12. I'm not so warm hearted as HuskerfaninOkieland. I think he needs to go after the end of this season. Hire a new and talented O.C. Preferably a snubbed former head coach or offensive minded genius.

I am going to be really angry, pissed off, dejected, if I have to sit through another season with a National Championship Caliber defense and an offense that plays like the last place offense in the MAC.

    Charlie Weis?

Man, if Charlie Weiss became our OC I would really have a hard time rooting for our offense... no front butt's in Nebraska please!

  13. Not even close (well sort of close)...

B-Jax played for Callahan and didn't even begin to see the bulk of the carries until at least a quarter of the way into his final year. If B-Jax didn't get buried on the depth chart due to favoritism like frequently happened under BC, this wouldn't even be a point to argue in my opinion.

B-Jax is/was the best back we've had at Lincoln since....? This is the real question in my opinion. Who was the last really really really good back (almost great) prior to B-Jax?

And yes, if Helu stays healthy and plays like he did at Va Tech ALL YEAR, I will alter this tune a little bit about the 'not even a question' statement.

Not favoritism! Sometimes, good players get buried. That's the nature of the game. If Callahan really played favorites, BJax wouldn't have gotten his shot as a junior. We had a four-back stable that year and Jackson emerged to take charge because he proved his worth, even though he was coming back from some injuries and being mostly invisible to Husker fans. Now we want to go back and claim Callahan played favorites with Lucky? How? Lucky had his shot that year, and couldn't hang onto it and Callahan went with Jackson instead.

Cory Ross (right before BJax if I remember) was pretty darn good, too.

I think Jackson and Helu are pretty different styles. I love watching Helu but I would hardly mind a back like Jackson either. I think I'll go with Helu just because he's more recent in memory.

Listen to player interviews about the Callahan era and how people got to see the field... from their mouths (or mouthes?;).

Cory Ross is probably the best back before B-Jax.

Good point, I absent-mindedly forgot about lil old Bowling Ball himself!
