  1. I'm 99% sure that the effectiveness of our secondary is based on scheme and coaching. It seems to me that our secondary play is designed to stopped the offenses that we face. It has everything to do with pre-snap reads and immediate reaction. Our guys are great at that. I'm not sure that means our guys are extremely talented.

Whoa Debbie Downer up there. Why so gloom and doom? Who poo poo'd in the coffee?

Prince, Dennard, Smith, Gomes - these kids are getting talked about by the league because they ARE talented. Not calling them the GOAT's, but still very talented.

I'm smart, but even if I studied these defenses for a year non-stop I'm not making any of these plays (and neither are 99% of us on this board).... Just saying.

  2. As important as it is to start the right guy, I would be a little concerned about Carnes garnering significant playing time and possibly scaring away Turner. Of course, you want guys to come in who aren't afraid of a little competition, but between the athletic abilities of Carnes and Green (especially if Carnes establishes himself as a young-gun starter) and their combined youth, Turner might look at a school with a little bit more oportunity for PT.

Carnes is here, Turner is still a hope. There's an entire calendar year between now and when he can commit (or half if he does come in at semester).

Also, if that is what would scare Turner away then we don't need that QB (not saying it is). I want a QB who looks at everyone present and says, "I'm still going to NU because I'm better than what they have" - that's when we'll get back to the top.

Carnes will get a look this year because of what's in front of him. Also, that has to have ran through Turner's mind - if Carnes sees PT as a frosh it's probably because the folks in front are pretty bad. Move Cody to a different skill position and let him produce. I tanked fast on Cody because of his consistent inconsistency with regards to where the ball ended up. He looked like an athlete throwing the ball. Vince, Terrel, Mike Vick never looked that far off in college....

such as? I cannot see him anywhere else, but i'd love to hear where you think he would fit.

have you forgotten that this kid was a true freshman? give him some time to develop. he was a raw talent coming out of high school and was rushed into PT without the proper coaching/development time at the next level.

As a QB, Cody was just RAW. Not a raw talent. There is kool-aid involved if anyone says he did anything on the field this year that makes you comfortable with him being #1 in the future. He couldn't move the ball against Baylor.... I hope he does get better and reach the potential that even I thought he had coming in, but then again I used to hope I would play basketball for Duke.

All the rumors that I've heard from within the team about Cody are that he's about as bright as a box of rocks in a closet. With Wats' offense, can a kid that's a butter knife actually pallate the scheme? Put him at a hybrid WR/split out TE and let him run out of the wildcat from time-to-time. Or leave him at QB and let him be a great backup. He could always end up as a great placeholder like Mr. London if you'd rather...

I'm just being objective, the kid CAN'T throw. He was handed the job and then had his card revoked after 1.5 games and replaced by one of the worst NU QB's we've ever seen (jury on Zac is still out however due to his injury).

I am a HUGE Husker fan, and I would actually LOVE to eat crow and/or humble pie on this topic...

  4. Seriously, this thread is the reason that announcements occur in this manner...

Nobody knows what they would do in that situation either, unless you've been that sought after for something. Chances are, since we're (me included) sitting on this board - we aren't and haven't been for a while.

With all the annoyances these kids deal with, I say they deserve the chance to announce as they see fit.

  5. I don't understand some of your comments. When you graduated high school did you have a graduation party? When you get married will you have a reception? Have you ever had a birthday party? My point is that this is a giant accomplishment, that less that .1% of high school kids get the honor of. If you celebrate a pointless birthday every year, or the fact that you graduated high school, why is it so shocking that these kids would enjoy a gathering of their family and friends to celebrate their accomplishments?

    HatersGonnaHate.jpg

DING DING DING - This guy gets it. Period. First off, they're fresh out of high school so let's have some perspective. Second, this may be their only moment of fame... so they should live it up. Everyone paying attention to the nonsense are the fools, not the kids. They are just capitalizing on the situation.

These kids have worked hard to be successful (most anyways) and everyone sitting on this board under the 'Recruiting' side is just giving them more reason to do it. Isn't it ironic, don't you think? If all of us grown-ups stopped posting info on every bowel movement then these press conferences wouldn't happen...

  6. I cant say that green will do better than lee next year. Green really hasnt proven anything yet

Unfortunately, watching Cody Green this year made me realize that there was a reason most schools were looking at him as an athlete. I still hope he reaches full potential, just not sure his fullest potential wouldn't be found outside of the pocket.

Let's be honest.... he looked pretty bad throwing the ball. Like, worse than Jammal Lord (I love Lord, by the way, but he couldn't throw a football...

  7. Anyone else seeing this turn into a Allan Evridge type of situation?

And oh boy, we would never have had our dip if we would have got Evridge to commit (not commenting on your post, just using it as the diving board)...

Seriously, Bronson is a nice story. BUT, there is some reason why NOBODY in D1 football is offering him the schollie?!? Let him walk-on and if he is as good as some think, he will have his schollie year 2 and be able to prove he's the next Eric Crouch (someone above made claim, NOT ME).

I'm not rooting against the kid, I'm just observing the fact that not a single recruiting expert is clamoring about this "hidden gem". Rudy, maybe; on par with a heisman winner -- hahahahaha....

  8. I don't know if I’m the only one that feels this way or not but if you ask me this sucks. Adrian is what Husker football is all about and not having him on the broadcasts will blow. :bang

They probably had to get rid of him to make room for Davison’s head. Matt loves him some Matt.

I agree. I really Adrian and will miss him.

Hope he continues to do Big Red Wrap-Up.

No, I really Adrian... stop pretending. On a serious note, I think this will be for the better. Adrian is a good guy (or so he seems when broadcasting) but I frequently thought that his allusions and stories were getting a little dated.

Then again, is Matt better? Debatable, but change and fresh blood is good. Next on the list... getting younger blood into the seats at Memorial Stadium. Quite the tangent, but the time has come!

  9. You looked at my profile to see my age?

Your comment about "knowing more than they do" is just odd. I share what I know and if that hurts your feelings then I am sorry. In three years of following NU recruiting you tend to gather plenty of info.

Yes. I did misread your post. I will admit it. I apologize.

You have singled me out a few times now when I post. I left rivals because that is what people did on there is single you out and argue the dumbest things. Please dont make this another rivals site.

Like I said above. I did misread your post. Please accept my apology.

    Have a nice day.

    Thanks. You too.

In case you were wondering when you said "again, do your homework" you are implying that you know more than I do. I found that ironic because you didn't even bother reading what I wrote.

    Have a good one.

(edit: Also, don't take it personally. When I see something that I think is wrong or ridiculous I will comment on it. Who you are has nothing to do with it. Apologies.)

Ok, I haven't posted for a while, but I need to step into this thread between these family members (they must be right?).

Would you two please get a room and, "Hug it out! B!"

Couldn't resist the temptation to drop a Michael Scott line...

  10. You have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. That music is annoying and terrible. There's tons of great hip hop songs to choose from. Why choose the terrible kind?

    :rollin:rollin:rollin

    great hip hop?

    Oxymoron?

    Like Jumbo Shrimp?

    Naval Intelligence?

I Still remember when some of my lamer friends thought Disco was "Neat".

May you all live long enough to be really really embarrassed by your tastes in music.

This video needs some Powerman 5000!

    ...

    now then

Wait Wait Wait -- I hope this guy is being sarcastic because he said Powerman 5000.... they weren't even a 1 hit wonder! They were a band akin to slipknot -- all visuals no substance.

That's quite possibly the funniest quote I've ever heard if it was stated as fact....

HAHAHAHA POWERMAN 5000! We'd need a second song to mix, so who should that be -- Rob Zombie?

  11. I was always under the impression that Lee was Bo's guys and that watson was open to Green. By the way Bo talked about him, he has praised him alot, while defending questions about his ability. I assumed all along Bo wants Lee to play.

I'm sorry to do this, but --

Did you sprain your arm? Or back? :box

    It's all in fun huskerfan#.

  12. Iowa State FORCED the majority of those turnovers and Nebraska flat out LOST to Iowa State at home.

    Pathetic.

Lets remember not to credit that Niles Paul fumble (first Helu fumble was pretty lame, too) to ISU's defense now, alright. And, for the record, ISU really did try to let us win that game...

First off -- the defense is playing amazing, especially considering the last few years compared with this year.

But, when I watch this offense this year I really feel like I'm watching a situation similar to Cosgrove's final defense. I mean this in the sense that when I watch our O this year, it looks as if they don't really BEGIN the game comfortable. Then, once something negative happens, which has unfortunately been happening early and often on O, they begin to look like they have no faith in what they're attempting to do... We keep hearing the excuses about EXECUTION, but last time I checked it's the coaches/coordinators jobs to get the team to execute. (Insert dead horse here), but if things are too complicated then...

Finally, I think Helu's good and will get even better. That said, a good running back at Nebraska doesn't fumble at home against ISU on his first carry of the game -- let alone what I remember to be the first offensive play(?)...

I'm chugging RED kool-aid and it's not even working right now...

  13. Matt O'Hanlon is a poor man's version of Pat Ricketts, except he plays safety....if what he does near the back of the defense can be called "playing safety". If O'Hanlon is the best at that safety spot, the kids behind him should quit IMO because I don't want to see them on the field. (I'm being sarcastic, but only in reference to those behind O'Hanlon).

Are his parents rich, because there has to be some reason, unrelated to football :box , as to why this normal human being is on the field with football players! (* I do not really believe there is anything dirty going on behind-the-scenes, I'm just sick of watching everybody run right past the SAME person).

The excuse is -- well, so-and-so doesn't know the defense as well.... Matt knows the defense, but he CAN'T execute it when it matters most.

Here's a new topic: What Nebraska safety has been worse? (congrats if you can come up with that answer)

  14. I think it will end up doing the team GOOD that players aren't getting preseason accolades. It will make them that much hungrier to prove themselves game-in and game-out.

    GO BIG RED!

And who cares? Who the heck is LINDY? We could be nearly as accurate as these preseason mag's if we took the time to sift through our statements and compile the results/summaries into a magazine.

  15. See, the irony here is that Keller is suing the NCAA for using his "likeness" without his permission. Well, I played NCAA '08 (thats the year with Keller I think) with the Huskers for many many many virtual seasons, and my response is this:

"Sam, whomever the QB was that year couldn't have been made in your likeness because the QB was actually good, and was able to throw the ball to more receivers than just the closest check down receiver."

Oh, and deal with the fact that you have to work for a living instead of living the "Dream" by stopping your search for a free handout.

And finally, as a huge fan of the NCAA Football series.....you better not mess this franchise up.

GO JOE GANZ..........better on and off the field.

  16. Most impressive thing to me was the fact that we had more than one person on each side of the ball at multiple times that actually looked fast.....which for me has been awhile since I have looked at a couple different positions and seen speed. HOORAY!

  17. I'm all for safe as possible, yet the possible is going to be limited by my demands that my freedoms are protected first. I don't complain about why the gov didnt prevent something. You cant have it both ways. No one can, or should, know everything.

Safe as possible. This angle starts getting into things like GPS tagging everyone in the country. Just think how safe we all would be if the gov knew where everyone was at every moment. Or random searches of citizens homes. Warantless anything is just the start of the slope to these options.

First off, GPS is not that accurate. Now, in all seriousness and you know this, warrant-less eavesdropping is Light Years from what you are worrying about. Do you have something to hide to where warrant less eavesdropping might pick something up? If not, then don't worry about it. We're, they're, not worried about 1-800 span-kme conversations. Just conversations and intel where national security is at risk or breached. In other words you want the Gov to protect you and the country with limitations. Is that effective to the degree you are willing risk your families safety? (It's a yes or no answer)

But, the problem is that the term terrorist can be slung around onto many people...depending on who's interests are being "protected". Remember....to many of those living in the middle east we're the terrorist.......
