  1.

Personally could care less one way or the other.

I see a guy that wants to be here, wants to coach Nebraska, with no stepping stone mentality..

We will get more from him than the previous two.

He fits for me, that is all I care about. Make the players better, play the game to their strength, make it a team for Nebraska, not against Nebraska, who could ask for more.

Just so you don't make this mistake again.

    It's..."I couldn't care less"

As you stated, you still care...

Correcting him is far more annoying.

I know it's annoying to be that internet grammar guy.

But...as I said, for his sake...just so he knows the difference in the future. It's not just him. I used to do it...and most Americans tend to get that wrong. Nothing wrong with a little education.

Another one a lot of people misuse:

    "For all intensive purposes"

  2.

This is probably the reason Frost is not the guy:

“We certainly have to establish an identity, and the identity has to be a blend of the system with what the players are comfortable with and good at. That’s coaching. You take your talent and make sure it’s the right fit for the system, and adapt the system the best you can to the team.” Mike Riley

Why would this statement from Riley disqualify Frost from coming to NU as OC? Are you saying Frost couldn't adapt an offense to fit the personnel we have now?

Yeah pretty much, his success has been with a much different type personnel than what is and has been at Nebraska. Not saying he wouldn't be successful in time, but an immediate success story? I doubt it.

  4. Well, I guess I know how everyone really feels.

Wasn't promoting this suggestion, just noting that I had seen no mention of it.

Can't say that I disagree with any statements.

So , I guess, I will continue to watch Turner hype furniture for Schewel's on TV.

  5. Being stuck here in the bible belt, I hear this name a lot, especially since I live only an hour from Lynchburg, VA

Turner Gill is taking the Flames to their first ever second round playoff game on Saturday.

With all the rumors flying, why not TG as HC with Frost as OC?

Seems like a perfect fit, Nebraska ties and such.

Then the only search would be for a tested DC.

  6. After Eichorst deliberates several months, keeping the entire HuskerNation in suspense.

A Washington press conference is called, during which President Obama issues an executive order to extract DNA samples from Knute Rockne, Vince Lombardi,

George Halas, Bob Devaney, Woody Hayes, Bear Bryant, Paul Brown, Weeb Eubank, George Allen and Lou Holtz (oops, just wishing) and supply them to University of Nebraska Medical Center, to be combined and provide a hybrid clone to be installed as the next and final Head Football coach.

The President defends his decision by saying "You've had your chance to reach a conclusive solution but have refused, so therefore I execute this order."

Within hours all hell breaks loose, from all sides.

  7. Here's the scenario:

Following the model developed by the Coca-Cola Corp., a parallel universe, gentler, kinder, dtylized Bo Pelini will be introduced. After not only state but national rejection of this product, resulting in protests, burning of Nebraska memorabilia and mass exodus of the fan base to South Dakota State.

After which time, Shawn Eichorst will announce the return of Bo Pelini Classic.

This process will take exactly 78 days.

  8. I dont get it, i honestly dont. Why should any player play for a university. Most of the fans dump on any player when they mess up and thats on any team. Why do you think they wouldnt play for the coaching staff but for the fans. I honestly dont get how this is hard to understand.

    Here's how I see it. Players=coaches=program=university.

  9. THE most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Ranks right up there with considering hiring Jim Tressel !!!

I'm on a few Husker-related groups on Facebook, and buried among the massive freakout over the announcement of Pelini's dismissal are several people mentioning that the players are boycotting the bowl game now. Obviously these Facebook groups aren't exactly hotbeds of intelligent discussion, and some of the people in those groups will latch on to the first rumor they hear and refuse to let go, so I'm not putting a whole lot of stock in this (especially since most of the people mentioning a player boycott are the ones who are upset, maybe even downright furious, over the decision, which makes me think it's just sour grapes talking), but since I didn't see any discussion of it here, I figured I'd see if anyone else is seeing mention of such a thing, whether from the players or other reliable sources.

  10.

Since we're just spitballin' here and since we're such risk takers, how about Charlie Weis, but to a long term contract only. He has got to have some success at some point and if not he adds to his retirement fund.

This can't be a serious post, can it?

Charlie is 41-49 lifetime in college and was 6-22 in his nearly two and a half years at Kansas. There would be torches and pitchforks at the stadium if Charlie Weis were hired.

Edit: two and half, not three and a half.

You caught me. Weis is a joke, a very well paid joke, but a joke all the same.

But on a serious note (wink, wink) Lou Holtz and Mark May seem to have all the answers.

Oh wait, they don't coach, do they?

  12. For the life of me, I do not understand the shunning given this kid by the media. Today on Sportscenter his name was not mentioned in the top four Heisman candidates.

Does character and purpose hold no value with these morons? Not enough flash?

He has the stats, he has the academics, he has the drive. I guess what he doesn't have is the rap sheet.

The other day, I heard Todd Gurly's name still mentioned in the race. WTF. Jamius Winston, WTF.

My advice to you, Ameer, is, get drunk, steal a runza, get arrested. You might then gain the notoriety you deserve.

  13. I might be mistaken, but we have had our share of bad boys. The Peter bros come to mind, Ritchie Incognito, Lawrence Phillips to name a few. Wasn't the beloved Taylor Martinez in trouble with coaches shortly after his arrival on campus? And let's not forget some of the controversy surrounding the legendary Johnnie Rodgers.

  14. Great, go on strike then. Dont buy tickets. Force the administration to make hastey decisions and be the driving factor that gets a guy whose given 6 years to Husker Nation fired. Be the force that pushes the administration to hire the first guy who answers the call and may not even be a fit or a good coach but dammit it made the fans happy for the offseason.

I wholeheartedly agree and to prove the theory only need four words: Steve Pedersen Bill Callahan
