  1. Right now he lists us up top with Tech and OK State, so I'd say a 25% chance and rising with him considering us this early in the process before we really get to know him.
  2. Agreed. BTW hoyamannn, Josh declared to the pros early. But I definitely don't think that Daniel Bullocks will be beat out, especially not by Wilson. Dan was probably the most impressive of all our DBs last year, and played solid in 2003.
  3. I just read that Benard said he looked small from his film earlier...I'd say that it's the exact opposite. To me he looks bigger than 6'0, 205. But even so, he's a quick, agile and even powerful runner who should bring A LOT to the table for Nebraska next year. Lucky won't start, but will likely see 10-15 touches per game by the end of the year if he can make something out of them. Judging by what I've seen in the All American game and on his junior film, I have no doubt that he has the ability. He also shouldn't be worried about getting qualified anymore. All he needs is like 40 more points on his SAT or .1 on his GPA. Last semester he got a 3.3, and he's very determined. He'll make it.
  4. formerfan, I'm just saying that this class is full of speed, one of the fastest classes in the history of Nebraska recruiting to my knowledge. I don't really think the 40 time is even the best way to measure speed. Cone drills and shuttle drills are much more important depending on the position (with WRs and DBs the 40 is probably the most important), but from watching film on all these guys, I think that we have a lot of speed coming in here and it will help us tremendously as early as next year. The fact that our slowest linebacker this year runs a 4.6 really excites me as far as improving our coverage in the flats goes.
  5. Something that I agree with you on. I do believe Wallace Franklin has the biggest chance of moving over, and his defensive film is very nice. He's got a knack for finding the ball and going up and getting it. I wouldn't mind seeing him at corner.
  6. I'm a senior in high school and am more mature than both of you.
  7. ^^^Dumbest...post...EVER. The only thing wrong with this class is that we failed to get our major DB targets. Apparently the coaches were lead to believe that Reggie was ours to lose, and we came down to the wire for Myers-White. It's gonna be tough at DB next year (coincidentally DB was the weakest part of the team last year) but Zack Bowman should come in and make a difference at CB, and should Leon get qualified and move to S, he should get some PT this year. Unlike what our former fan said, this class is loaded with speed. Obviously he hasn't seen film from the likes of Leon Jackson, Marlon Lucky, Zack Bowman, Phillip Dillard, Chris Brooks, Frantz Hardy, Wallace Franklin, Barry Turner...I could go on and on. It seems that you're basing all your information off of 40 times, while you forget there is such a thing as "deceptively fast." Not to mention the 40 is the most overrated measurement of any football player. And to throw the names of an offensive lineman and a guy that we all know needs work but has great mechanics as your only two examples in there, it's a pretty weak argument. To call this class slow...you really are blinded by your hatred of Stevie P. Get on with it, Frank's gone, either be a NEBRASKA fan or a Frank Solich fan. Those numbers are not what I have read, and not what was posted on rivals. Where did they come from? Besides Jackson, Bowman, and Hardy, rivals didnt list any 4.4 guys, unless you want to count Lucky who is closer to 4.5 (which isnt blazing). Like I said, you put WAY too much stock in 40 times. Did you even watch the All American game, or any of these prospects' film? Marlon's 40 is a 4.44 I believe, and that kid left everyone else just looking at him in the A.A. game when he ran by them. If you don't think he's got blazing speed, you need to do more research, because you obviously haven't seen anything but paper. Leon's even faster. Zack Bowman is considered the fastest and has been clocked at a 4.2. To say this class doesn't have speed...wow. Do you expect everyone to have sub-4.5s or something? Get real. This is one of the fastest classes in the nation. See my previous post. I did check out other teams' recruits, and alot of them had more team speed, REPORTEDLY. But it seems that rivals has updated alot of info on their site lately, and from what they have updated, this class' overall team speed is greater than what I orginally saw reported (per rivals). To answer your question, yes, for "skill positions" I would say to compete at the highest level, the overwhelming majority of the players should be sub-4.5 guys. Our only skill players that run under a 4.5 is Cody Glenn, who is an exceptional running back and was brought in as a power guy. A 4.5 is a very respectable forty time. Would you never have accepted Jerry Rice, who ran like a 4.6 or 4.7 coming out of college, or Anquan Boldin, who was in the 4.7-4.8 range? They've fared pretty well. You're putting WAY too much stock in your 40 times, not the full package or what you see on film.

  10. As to which Internet site I got the info from, sorry, I saw it Sunday night after the local news, either on the callahan stroke-off show hosted by Jim "All I wanna do is save my precious job as voice of the Huskers" Rose, or on the weekly show on WOWT. It was reported that Taylor was penciled in to get 40% of the snaps w/ the first team during Spring practice (per jay norvell), the same as JD. Thats an insult to Joe. Who's not being pushed aside again? 1. Hmmm......you can't ever seem to remember where you hear things from, you just 'magically' hear them. All your Husker dreams when you go to bed? But you listen to the BC show and sports nightly, so are you really formerman or closetfan? 2. Why shouldn't a new QB recruit get 40% of the snaps? Our QB play was not very good last year, so let 2 or 3 guys get equal snaps to see who's the best. Should Dailey take all the snaps if he's not the best guy for the job? Hell no! It's not an insult to Joe, this is competition, and you can't compete if you don't have a chance. I would rather JD got about 20% and let Adams and Taylor get the other 40% each, because I've seen what JD can do. 1. Because there are 3 show on at the same time, and I was switching between the 3. I usually listen to Travis Justice because he has the only show of the three thats balanced. He doesnt fall to his knees and give pud and cally a h****r, he tells it like it is. I think it was the WOWT show that it was reported on, but I dont remember for sure. 2. Why shouldnt a new recruit get 40% of the snaps, are you really that ignorant? What about proving yourself by actually beating the out the incumbant on the playing field, not being given the job because it is the dreams of the coaches? It's more of Joe Dailey losing his spot than Zac Taylor being given it. If Taylor doesn't perform well, then he won't win the spot. I'm pretty sure it's all just talk right now, I think J.D., Zac, Jordan and Ganz will all be given equal opportunity to come out on top in spring practice. It's not like Joe performed admirably last year...when you aren't the guy for the system, you aren't the guy for the system. I respect everything about Joe, he's a great, determined kid, and it's his job to win now that he actually has some seasoned competition.
  11. We stopped AD cold this year. I don't know. He really didn't play much this year because Jason White could pick us apart. Well we held him to under 4 ypc, that's all I know.
  12. I hope this is what Elmassian's looking for in our CBs, and if Zack, of all people, who is 6'2, can't run the man system in place, we need to start looking for a new DB coach. However, I feel Zack will have a big time immediate impact next year and will do just fine opposite Grixby or DeFrand.
  13. We stopped AD cold this year. The thing we had to worry about was the passing game. Of course, last year we had Barrett Ruud, too. Right now I say put 7 in the box, rush one LB and drop 5 back in coverage. Of course we'll have to see what happens and who the QB is at the time, whether it be Bomar, Thompson, Grady or whoever. I think we have a solid shot, though.
  14. 1. You can't take T.O. out of retirement. Get over it. And Frankie's no T.O. 2. He's no longer a head coach, he's not fit for a head coach, he's a defensive lines coach, and he's a damn good one and a damn fine recruiter. 3. Yeah, he just sat back and drank kool-aid as the Cowboys cruised to win another ring. All he had to do was show up at work. Give me a break. Blake did amazing things with our D-Line. We were consistently ranked in the top 5 this year in rush defense and finished up somewhere around top 10, much better than last year. And you can't say it was all Barrett Ruud, or you weren't watching. J.B. did great things with the guys he had this year. His DE's got adequate pass rushes in most games, and despite the SEVERE lack of depth he had to take over at DT, he took what he had and ran with it. And if you think he's a horrible coach, if you blame the D-Line for this year's poor defense, then you're pathetic.
  15. Ya'll don't know the whole story so I wouldn't go to jumping to any conclusions. Not all mother's are loveable and support you no matter what. She could've pressured him like hell to go to Miami, even told him that's where he would be going. I'm not saying it was right, it wasn't, but we never know the whole story, so I wouldn't go labelling him anything horrible yet.
  16. Should be a Husker. Camped here last year and we got Harvey. I believe they are good friends. We're paper thin at DB so he should be able to step in and contribute right away. I'd give us an early 35% chance.
  17. See: 17 TDs, 19 INTs. And then shut up and buy some Ohio merchandise. While you're at it, stop by Rivals and watch some film of Harrison Beck. You'll see he's plenty mobile for our tastes. J.D. will get his fair look as the starter for next year, don't believe all the internet talk you hear about how Zac Taylor will step in right away and take the spot. However, Joe Joe's gonna have to have an amazing turnaround to do so. And if you no longer support the Nebraska Cornhuskers (not the Nebraska Callahan's or Bill's Cornhuskers, the NEBRASKA Cornhuskers) then please, get off the boards.
  18. I think DeMarco could and should be the one back we take next year. It's early, I know, but I figure if coach Cally, Blake and crew want somebody bad enough, they're gonna have him. I've only watched three RBs films for 2006 so far, Chris Wells, LeSean McCoy (both who are in the top 10) and Murray's, and DM's was easily the best. He's another Lucky guy who just makes all the other guys look like they're in pop warner, except he just has fun running around everyone while Lucky just breezes past them. We'll see what comes of this. I'd give NU 30% just because I believe Murray will be our #1 RB target next year, and we got our fair share of #1 targets this year, including our RB.
  19. 1) What are your first impressions of this recruit (speed, strength, character, leadership, grades, etc)? I've heard he's anywhere from 6'3 to 6'6. He's only been playing football for two years though, so I don't know how good of a pick up this was. Rodney's very excited to be playing next to his cousin, though, and maybe he'll surprise us. 2) Rank his importance to the Huskers 1-10 (10 the most important). 5. He's a JUCO who can't step in right away. I don't really get the offer when we coulda got Brandon Perry. 3) Will he contribute right away? In what capacity? Nah, redshirt and probably just provide depth his whole career. 4) Who does this player most remind you of? Dunno. 5) Where do you see this player in 2009? Doing something with his degree.
  20. 1) What are your first impressions of this recruit (speed, strength, character, leadership, grades, etc)? Tyrell is an ATH who can play on either side of the ball, but will likely stay at WR. I've only seen pictures of him, and he appears to be on the light side, needs Kennedy to get his hands on him, but could be great for the WCO and provide us even ANOTHER threat at WR. 2) Rank his importance to the Huskers 1-10 (10 the most important). 8. He provides depth at WR or DB, both places of need. 3) Will he contribute right away? In what capacity? I believe so, he's a JUCO, that's what they're here for. 4) Who does this player most remind you of? Actually he looks a little like Fred Rouse in his picture. I don't know about play style. 5) Where do you see this player in 2009? Gone.
  21. 1) What are your first impressions of this recruit (speed, strength, character, leadership, grades, etc)? Definitely looks like he could step in and contribute right away, which is something we need. I think he's a 3 to play 3 guy, too, so we'll get 3 playing years out of him. He needs to beef up a bit, but could start out at safety for us since we only have 3 scholarship safeties I believe. 2) Rank his importance to the Huskers 1-10 (10 the most important). 7. We need DBs who can step in right away. Reggie Smith would've been better, but I'll take Wilson outta the JUCO ranks. 3) Will he contribute right away? In what capacity? He will. I don't know if he'll start, but he'll contribute on special teams if anything. We don't want to burn a year on a redshirt for a 3 to play 3 guy like him and Hardy. 4) Who does this player most remind you of? Couldn't tell ya. 5) Where do you see this player in 2009? Gone.
  22. 1) What are your first impressions of this recruit (speed, strength, character, leadership, grades, etc)? He's had a long career. Out of high school he was a 5 star guy who committed to Florida State. Then he got there, something happened with his transcripts, they promised he'd play for the Noles and he never did, so he went to Butler for a season. He's a 4 to play 3 guy, so he's almost as good as another high schooler who has 5 to play 4. Great size, strength, and speed, and was a monster at DE last year for the JUCO national champs, but will likely play TE for the Huskers. 2) Rank his importance to the Huskers 1-10 (10 the most important). 9, because he's an ATH and we can switch him around from TE to DE. 3) Will he contribute right away? In what capacity? Oh yeah. If Clayton Sievers doesn't step up huge, then Tomerlin should pull in right behind Herian and take over for him in 2006. If Sievers looks ready to go and Tomerlin doesn't, he'll find himself getting PT on the defensive side of the ball. 4) Who does this player most remind you of? I dunno? Tracy/Grant Wistrom? 5) Where do you see this player in 2009? In the pros if he does well at TE. The NFL covets good WCO TE's.
  23. 1) What are your first impressions of this recruit (speed, strength, character, leadership, grades, etc)? He's quick to the ball, amazing closing speed, and he can certainly strike the ball carrier. He's already enrolled at classes at NU. 2) Rank his importance to the Huskers 1-10 (10 the most important). 8. We need speed at LB. 3) Will he contribute right away? In what capacity? He's in good shape to step in and start at MLB next year and fill in Barrett Ruud's shoes, if that's at all possible. 4) Who does this player most remind you of? T.J. Hollowell. 5) Where do you see this player in 2009? He won't be on the Huskers then BTW...lol. I think he could make the league though.
  24. 1) What are your first impressions of this recruit (speed, strength, character, leadership, grades, etc)? NOT a good tackle, a position that we recruited him for. It'd be better to stick his cousin and Brock out there and do with what we have. However, he's got great upside as an interior OL. He might be a bit overrated (on the reverse side, Craig is underrated) but he played in the Cali-Florida bowl AND the U.S. Army All American bowl, our only recruit to do both, so he's obviously doing something right. Needs to get them grades up, but Busch is working with him on that. 2) Rank his importance to the Huskers 1-10 (10 the most important). 8. He'll need some work before he can contribute. 3) Will he contribute right away? In what capacity? Nah. I don't know if he redshirts, but he should to get ready for the college game. 4) Who does this player most remind you of? A versatile O-Lineman. 5) Where do you see this player in 2009? Probably starting on our OL if he redshirts.
  25. 1) What are your first impressions of this recruit (speed, strength, character, leadership, grades, etc)? Provides that speed we need at OLB, what we lacked this year (see: 70-10). Haven't ever seen any film on him, so I couldn't tell you. He's enrolled at NU already with Zac Taylor, Ola Dagunduro, Barry Cryer and Dontrell Moore. 2) Rank his importance to the Huskers 1-10 (10 the most important). 10. We need that speed that he, Moore, Dillard and Covey will all provide int he near future at LB. 3) Will he contribute right away? In what capacity? He'll start at WILL, although apparently Cally is very high on Andy Kadavy (Special K?). 4) Who does this player most remind you of? Definitely not Roy Williams. Hopefully Farley or Demorrio. 5) Where do you see this player in 2009? Gone.
