  1. My memory has definitely proven fuzzy when it comes to details, but in the commercial it was Mike Knox, the problem is he was a freshman in '81 and the game in question predates his enrollment. Not a big deal for a bar story, but a commercial.....

I caught that too when I was wathing the 83 orange bowl and mike knox was playing, and it just didnt add up.

How long has this commercial been around? <_<

    A few years

I'm just wondering what you guys think here. I think 1) it's the only team in the state, so almost 100% of the fans are huskers 2) people move out of the state for job ops, but are still husker fans because it's tradition 3) I don't know if this is true or not, but a friend of mine from Louisiana said he thought the huskers were America's team, and he slams the huskers and the B12 every chance he gets. Can any of the out-of-staters fill me in here? You think that's true?

Anytime a friend moves away from Nebraska, they become a bigger fan than before they left...it's a great way to relate and gain an identify......You are living in Dallas and are now know as the Nebraska guy.

    Very good point.

    And so true..

I felt a little funny when I walked into this bar in Tempe (advertised on the radio durring a timeout in one of our "Pay-per-view" games) and saw ~700 "Nebraska guys" all in red T-shirts.

Not really "funny" jealous, but sorta like when you meet someone that has your same first name.

My family is rooted so deeply in Colorado that I'm sure they know/relate to somebody on some Colorado team. Me and my cousin are the only Huskers so we don't conversate with the family that often.

Don't worry, I have Colorado Alumni in my family, but they are husker fans too so I guess it works out.

  4. That would be amazing. I know that they have kept his condition VERY close to the chest. He is an amazing talent and having him back would awesome.

This is what I remember hearing...

    via Examiner.com

Among the main things Pelini talked about was offensive lineman Javario Burkes no longer being with the team. For some time now, Burkes has had major heath issues that have really limited his playing time. The loss of Burkes certainly doesn't do the Huskers any favors. When given the chance to play Burkes was solid and gave the Huskers offensive line a big boost. However, with all the issues surrounding him, it's no real surprise to see he's no longer with the team.

    Is this way off?

I hope this isn't the case. We need all the help we can get on the O-line.

I'm not a health expert, but I do know what was going on with him, so I wouldn't have high expectations for him to play if he's even on the team still. That'd be great if he really does though.

  5. In no particular order (except for #1) Besides the obvious like go undefeated.

    1. Beat Texas. Do it so bad they can't take it away from us

    2. See as much improvement from Lee as there was from Scott Frosts junior year and his senior

    3. Also see improvement from Cody Green. I really wish he could have redshirted

    4. A 100% Cody Spano. He might have been what this team really needed

    5. A defense playing like this years.

    6. No one going pro early

    7. White Shoes - it would make the team faster (tongue in cheek)

    8. A new field. I don't like the 2 tone green.

    9. Recruit dual threat QBs. Probably spoiled after watching Gill, Frazier, Frost, Crouch, but its painful to watch our QBs try and run, and a QB that could run would help a lot.

    10. An offensive identity that has a solid foundation in the power running game and play action passing. Won't get there over night but I can't stand this sideline to sideline finesse thing.

:sarcasm I am all for a red field, like Boise States smurf turf.

Dammit you beat me to it! hahaha

  6. I'm guessing most voters already had their vote in before saturday, otherwise how do you explain Colt and Tebow getting an invite after last saturday showings. If thats the case then Suh won't have a chance.

Musburger said that 10% of the voters had voted before the games on Saturday. There are a lot of people who still think Tebow should win it unfortunately.

  7. My favorite Mexican food spots from y 15+ years living in San Diego:

best inexpensive Mexican food (no servers): El Indio (located near downtown and Little Italy)

best sit-down Mexican food: Casa Guadalajara (located in Old Town)

If you're looking for good bar scene, try Gaslamp or Pacific Beach. PB has a younger demographic to it.

Yeah and just to add there is a Texas, Iowa, Kansas, and Virginia Tech bar in PB. Probably a few other schools, but I can't remember right now. Most people are really nice in PB so I'm sure they'll welcome husker fans if you ever want to stop in, but if you have kids with you...most won't let you in.

Osborne was able to keep his assistants around long term. You cant tell me that Charlie Mcbride couldnt have gotten a HC job if he wanted the opportunity. Lets see if Bo can do the same.

Osbourn also paid out half of what he made from TV Shows and Sponsors to his assistants. Good pay and Job security can go a long ways in this Racket.

  9. Gomes deserves a LOT of praise for an incredible season, especially considering he's a first-year player. We should have some good DB's next year. Ankrah, Randle, Steinkuhler, Meredith are all looking to surge on the D-line too.

Agreed. Gomes has saved our asses more than once this season and deserves credit regardless if we ended up winning or not.

  10. Everyone at ESPN is trying to hide the fact that McCoy was sacked 8 times. I didn't hear anyone say a WORD about it besides maybe Suh having 4 1/2. <_<

    9 times actually, :)

My bad, like I said...they're trying to hide the total from us hahaha

  11. I was just told by "a friend of the program" that Mangino will be gone by the end of the week.

Another friend (not of the program) said he heard a rumor that Turner Gill is number 1 on their list to replace Mangino.

I'm not quite sure that Turner Gill will go to KU, but he does have a daughter that goes there...so you never know.

    Sucks for Mangino though.

  12. The second time Iowa State punted we had another player back to receive (forgot his name). I wonder why we didn't keep putting that guy back there, I think he got further than Paul did on any return haha. It's just like how McNeil has great catches and then they take him out right after.

  13. Did you guys even watch what happened today?

We got beat by Iowa State. There are no more "we better fu#&ing win"'s, or "toss up"'s unless a team from the Sun Belt is involved.

If we want to win, we better hope we play our asses off, the other team has a horrible day, and we catch a lot of breaks.

Husker_X said it all. The season is lost.

Wow have some faith in your team

  14. For Dr Tom to get on the phone and plead with Turner Gill to come back and be asst head coach/offensive coordinator. Watson calls plays too much like Crapahan and Colorado wasn't exactly impressed with Watson. It became apparent in first half of Mizzou game when in a pouring rain hes having Lee pass the ball. Lee is not a strong passer and we don't have a Nate Swift at WR anymore.

Turner knows how to play good ol fashioned running option game thats what he need to com back to not some watered down WCO. BRING BACK GILL!!!!

The ENTIRE COACHING STAFF needs to be fired today! BO is a great defensive co-ordinator but is not HEAD COACH material. They need to recruit players who know how to play football, not a bunch of losers they have now. There is nobody worth a crap on that team except for maybe Suh. But I don't care anymore anyway, I am pulling for Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, So Cal and good teams like that. Gonna buy sweatshirts of ALL those teams and wear them proudly and take my Husker gear to Goodwill where it belongs...
