  1. I used to live in Vegas, and would go to Torino's. It's a decent watch site. The food is just okay, they have some specials. The atmosphere is pretty good though.

It's about 3 miles west of the strip ($15 cab ride) on Flamingo. They still play every game.

  2. I wouldn't mind leaving the Big 12. The whole league is Texas' anyway. They always whine until they get their way on every single issue. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Big 12 title being played in Austin annually within the next 5 years.

We move to the Big 10, and have an east/west division with:

West- Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Northwestern, Wisconsin

East-Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue

You'd have 3 powers in each division.

I'm sorry, but who are the other two "powers" in your West Division?

    :snacks:

Iowa and Wisconsin are at least traditional powers. They may not be Nebraska level, but then again, Nebraska isn't exactly Nebraska over the last 10 years.

As for the Big 12, they could move both Oklahomas up to the North, and invite TCU to come in to the South. That would balance out that division better anyway.

Additionally, this would enable us to schedule OU every year, as an OOC rivalry much easier.

  4. Peter King polled the league, and Suh is "the most desirable defensive player to come out of college in a decade" and will absolutely be the #1 pick.

Hearing it from Kiper is one thing. Hearing it from the majority of the NFL is another.

    Heisman who?

  5. This is a good thing. This is the thing everyone hit Callahan for. He refused to change his offense to fit his personnel. The sign of a really good coach is one who takes the time to change the offense if it isn't working.

A bad, ego-driven coach refuses to change, and thinks the player should change their playing style to fit the system.

  6. This game could be anywhere from totally one sided in the huskers favor to a blowout by Arizona. I would say the spread is fair... it is basically saying "we have no clue who is better."

You can honestly see ANY team blowing us out? Let's remember that 7 of the points in that Texas Tech game was scored on a 75 yard fumble recovery for TD. We have not allowed 30 points all year.

No one is blowing this defense out, short of the '07 New England Patriots.

  7. Hopefully others have noticed we tend to play down, or up to our competition depending on who they are.

I'm not real impressed with Arizona. Their win against USC was "meh". USC had clearly given up on the season long before that game started.

They are not that impressive of an opponent. I could see us absolutely dismantling them (something like 35-0) if our offense clicks like they did against bad opponents early in the season. I could also see a very tight, low scoring game either way. The only scenario I don't see is them blowing us out.

  8. I don't think Suh would have become a Heisman level player for many other coaches. Suh would be the first one to tell you that.

We really have to thank Pelini & Co. as much as we do Suh.

We have some offensive work, but for as long as we have the Pelini's, I don't think we ever have to worry about our defense again. And that is a load off my mind.

  9. When SEC teams knock each other off, its good teams battling each other and playing good football in the deep south.

When Big XII teams do the exact same thing, its the end of the conference, and no one respects us.

It's a wonder anyone reads anything anymore that the biased sports media of the country pumps out each day

  10. I think the point of the thread is, while many people have been sounding off about how the Big 12 will never let Nebraska get to "golden boy" Colt McCoy for whatever reason, it actually makes more financial sense for the Big 12 to be biased toward us, rather than against us. Not that I believe they are every truly "biased".

And while it might make more financial sense to back Nebraska, it obviously makes more sense from a viewership/pride standpoint to back Texas, who can represent in the title.

In any case, I'm usually one of the last ones to blame a game on the refs, or point the finger at a conference backing one team over another.

  11. Dillard will probably go in the late rounds. Asante is projected as a 4th-6th rounder by many. Hickman may get taken in the 6th-7th, and will certainly be an undrafted FA signee if not drafted.

I don't think Amukamara will declare. He's seen how much Suh's stock has raised since returning, its worth several million dollars if he comes back and has another All-Big 12 year.

A sleeper is O'Hanlon. Pros are gonna love him in interviews, he's a blue collar guy, and scouts tend to like hard workers. I'm not gonna say he'll get drafted for sure, as he's on the small side, but he'll get a solid look. Don't be surprised if he gets invited to the combine.

  12. I would have to agree. Bo Pelini has a chance to get to 10-11 wins this year, after a 9 win campaign in his first year.

We pretty much know that we never have to worry about the defense again. Bo Pelini's name is synonymous with defensive success, and this is shown in statbooks year after year.

The offense will come along. We are going to have Green and Lee battling all offseason, throw in an unknown quantity in Kody Spano into the mix, and maybe even Tyler Gabbert, and we have good competition next year.

Next year is the year boys. Our OOC skedge lines up, we have the right games at home, we should be making a BCS run next year, and should be in national title talk in 2010. Good way to start off the new decade.

  13. Thunder Collins while sitting in jail on a life sentence is now saying that he received $1,000 a month from boosters while he was a player at NU.

If so, he was grossly overpaid.

    :yeah

15 games played, 1 game started, 5 TDs.

    In bowl games:

2000 Alamo Bowl vs. Northwestern: Rushing 3-9

2002 Rose Bowl vs. Miami: Rushing 6-10

The only hole in his lie is that he forgot you have to be good before boosters offer you money. Even in his "prime" thunder collins was barely a starter.
