  1. Sorry if this has been talked about already. And I hate to change the somber mood of the day. But what the hell is up with Vrs. not on DirecTV anymore?

DirecTV and Comcast (Company that owns Versus) are in a contract dispute. Comcast apparently wants to charge more for DirecTV to carry Versus and DirecTV doesn't want to pay more for it and have to pass on those fees to us. Screw Comcast. I'm glad DirecTV is standing up to them.

Actually, not true. Versus offered to reup their contract for the same price but DirectTv wants to move Versus to a higher priced tier with less viewers

  2. Don't understand the hate toward Missouri coming from an Iowa State fan

Study your ISU-MU history and then you'll understand...that, and Missouri fans latching onto this thread to insult a team that kicked your ass two weeks ago is just bad manners.

Kinda like starting a thread on said teams message board to boast about a once in a very long time win

Don't worry...I'll visit your message board too after we win in Columbia so try to keep your Commodore 64 going till then... <_<

Better be careful what you promise, they might not have message boards that far in the future

  4. Cy you da man! Like I said a couple of weeks ago, the Nub's are living in the 90's, they just can't handle being average. Great win, we'll see you in Columbia.

Why hasn't this troll idiot been banned yet?

WTF Knapp - my flag football team didn't turn the ball over "8" times this morning.

Dude, it's beyond pathetic that you're asking IOWA STATE to carry your banner. Your team won the North two years running and you're relegated to this.

And tell you what - you get to call us "Nub" when you beat us again. Until then it's NEBRASKA to you. Got it?

Hey, can you post a picture of the Sun Belt trophy? Just wondering what it looks like. Thanks.

What does it feel like to get beaten by Nebraska at your own house? I am just curious because that has not happened to my team. I am really, really interested. How does it feel? GOD IT MUST SUCK HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

I'm sure it hasn't because you play in the ACC. There's no Big 12 caliber teams that come to your house.

Enjoy being in the cellar, unranked, and just an an overall bad team. Ga Tech, Miami, and VT, we will all wave "hello" to you from our top 15 positions.

Tell coach to not bring that lame triple option crap when you play a big boy program. It will make you look like the Nub's today when you fumble the ball all over the yard.

I happen to like the lame triple option, and it works pretty well. On another note, not only are you a troll, you do not know when to quit.

His team does though...2 minutes into their game against Texas.

Think the sunbelt trophy looks something like this. Troll

Hey, if Gabbert did more of what he's doing in the picture, then he would have fit right in as the Nubs QB

Dude, isn't your team getting b!tch slapped by the Horns right now?

The CU/TX game was so bad, ABC had to switch coverage to the Oregon State/ USC in the middle of the 3rd quarter to salvage what ever audience they had left that wasn't dead or passed out. :thumbs

    Way to go Mizzoutucky!

Hey, I didn't expect to beat Texas or even stay close with them. But they way some of you guys are explaining your loss cracks me up.

"I-State didn't beat us, we beat ourselves"

"If we don't turn the ball over eight times, we win"

Well, that's all well and good, but, if it doesn't rain then Mizzou beats Nebraska and if Gabbert doesn't get hurt or throws three interceptions, then Mizzou beats Nebraska.

Sounds kinda the same, don't it??

If if's and but's were candy and nuts, we would all have a great Christmas.

Check my posts brother and you won't see any of that. I don't deal in what if's. Only reality.

We got beat, and I don't make excuses to the contrary.

    SUHgabbert.jpg

BTW....The picture was a response to another Mizzoutucky troll who thought he could sh!t in our yard without a response.

I don't come down to your boards to post crap, so don't think you or anybody is going to get a free pass here.

    Sarge,

Wasn't talking about you specifically (sp?). But there are some people doing what we were told not to do after the game on Oct.8th.

You, in deed, are a straight shooter and I do comend (again, sp??) you for that

  7. Hey guys,

Couldn't log in last night due to (I guess) server issues. Just wanted to stop in for my plate of crow. I have one request though, could it be fried crow? (the feathers go down easier that way). Anyway, just wanted to stop in and say good game. Finally, to utter the phrase frequently heard in Lincoln, "we'll get ya next year". j/k. You guys are ok. I'lll be back.

  8. Here they are, hot off the presses. If you don't feel like reading through all this, just skip down to the Cliff's Notes version at the bottom....

So there's your breakdown, with up-to-the-minute stats from the NCAA. What do these numbers tell us? Interesting stuff, really...

Blaine Gabbert is fourth in the nation in pass efficiency, after having gone up against opponents who average 101st in the nation against the pass. Missouri's defense is ranked 39th in the nation against the pass, but at this point we don't know how to put that in context. The "Incomplete" you see next to Missouri's opponents' pass efficiency rating means that the NCAA only ranks the top 100 QBs in pass efficiency (for some reason), and only one of Missouri's opponents (Tyler Sheehan, BG) is ranked. Sheehan is 77th in the nation, for the record.

We see that Missouri is 61st in the nation rushing the ball (120 teams) with an average of 134 yards per game after facing opposing rush defenses that give up an average of 150 yards per game. Against their opponent average, Missouri is underperforming by 16 yards per game.

Missouri's opponents are ranked, on average, 99th in the nation in scoring defense, helping to explain Missouri's place at 15th in scoring offense. They're playing teams that everyone scores on. So it stands to reason they'd score, unless they're incompetent. And they're not, averaging 37 points per game.

A look at Nebraska's breakdowns tells a little different story.

Zac Lee, much maligned after his bad game against Virginia Tech, ranks 34th in the nation in Pass Efficiency, just three one-hundredths of a point behind Gabbert at 8.83 yards per attempt. However, Zac has faced slightly tougher pass defenses, ranked 83rd in the nation and giving up an average of 8 yards per game. Nebraska's pass defense is 16th in the nation after facing opponents averaging 66th in the nation. Again, it's impossible to contrast that with Missouri's defensive effectiveness since we cannot average Missouri's opponents, since they are not good enough to have been ranked by the NCAA. All four of Nebraska's opposing QBs are ranked.

Nebraska is averaging 184 yards rushing per game, good for 34th in the nation, after facing rushing defenses that give up an average of 154 yards per game, good for 59th on average. That means that Nebraska is rushing for about 30 yards more per game against their opponents than their opponents typically surrender. Not bad.

Finally, Nebraska is scoring an average of 39 points a game, good for 9th in the country, after facing opponents who give up an average of 27 points per game, good for 74th nationally. Nebraska’s defense faces opponents who score an average of 24 points per game, good for 76th nationally. However, when they play Nebraska those averages dip dramatically, down to 7 points per game.

At the end of the day, these stats bring us to this Cliff’s Notes version:

Missouri has faced weaker defensive opponents than Nebraska, yet scored less. Missouri has faced weaker offensive opponents than Nebraska, yet allowed them to score more. Nebraska, on the other hand, has faced opponents who score more than Missouri’s opponents, and yet has allowed fewer points. Conversely, our offense has faced statistically better defenses than Missouri’s offense, and has scored more against them.

What does this all mean? A guaranteed win for Nebraska? Hardly. But at the end of the day, these stats being what they are, I’d far rather be on Nebraska’s side of these numbers than Missouri’s. They may mean nothing in this game, but it would appear that, over the course of the season, Nebraska would be in better shape.

Stats taken from the NCAA’s updated stats page, found here.

enough already. The only stats I care about are the ones on the scoreboard after the 4th quarter. Let's just get the game going already. Oh and by the way, good luck.

  9. I am terrified of tonight's game and will have hand covering my eyes with the occasional glance through my fingers to watch the horror.

I have learned the following things on the board this week that have eliminated all hope:

    1. Illinois was on their way to an undefeated national championship season until Missouri destroyed their will to play football for the rest of the season. We will soon know that same feeling because...

    2. A Nebraska loss tonight will set back the program decades and be just the third in a 30+ string of consecutive victories by the Tigers. That is just too much pressure for our young players to handle. Not that it matters anyway, because...

    3. Every key player (and possibly our head coach) has a severe case of swine flu that will render them powerless to stop the feared Tiger attack. Not that we'd be able to stop it anyway, because of...

    4. Blaine Gabbert. WOW! What else can I say? If only there was a way to dispense with him actually having a playing career so we could induct him into the NFL Hall of Fame now. The only thing that will prevent him from throwing for 800 yards tonight is the weather, so expect only 600 yards from his magical arm of wonder. It is a travesty that Heisman voters don't have him as not just the leading candidate, but the ONLY candidate worthy of winning the trophy. That will change after tonight because...

    5. The legendary "Tiger aura" will grow to mythical proportions after Missouri not just wins, but destroys the spirit of an entire state and could very well lead to Nebraska discontinuing their football program. The Tiger aura will be so formidable that even teams like USC and Florida will find it impossible to recruit against; they will be left fighting for three star scraps while Missouri locks up every five star player in the nation for the next thirty years. Rivals will soon have to create a sixth star, reserved only for prospects that commit to the Tigers.

So you see, it really is hopeless. I have learned so much from Tiger fans on the forum this week. Oh, I'll watch the game...it will just be with sickening horror, just like the horror and helplessness our nation felt collectively as we watched the World Trade Center buildings collapse. Except instead of planes, it will be black and gold gladiators handing out the final deathblow to our storied program.

Tonight Missouri begins their utter domination of college football for the next several decades. We will never see another Tiger loss in our lifetimes. Maybe our children will, I don't know. Missouri is just THAT good.

I've really enjoyed Nebraska football. I'll be sad to see it go.

Actually that is exactly what I've been reading about the Nebraska program this week. I'm not sure that the Tigers should even show up.

    :sarcasm

  10. Give me a break! The rain is going to be coming down, Gabbert won't be able to throw, Lee won't be able to throw. We go to the ground. Helu gets 150, Burkhead chips in 40-60, Lee runs around a little bit, Mizzou...folds becuase they aren't gonna get a yard rushing. We beat the crappy teams on our schedule by like, 40 points, Mizzou beat theirs by like, 7.

Like I said when this game was first announced to be on Thursday night, Gabbert is gonna get the crap kicked out of him, have terrible stats, and then is gonna wake up tomorrow and fail his Algebra test

    Wishful thinking

    Hey MoFan.

You have to back your statement up with all kinds of facts/numbers/research/yada/etc/yada for KNAPPy to understand.

    Get with the program.

    Hey Tim,

Ok, here is a fact, UGAHusker is dreaming. He dreamed about it for possibly 8 hours. There is a fact and a figure, but I am not a stalker, so I didn't do any research.

  11. O.K. We can play this game.

I'm taking over/unders on how long before Blaine joins the "I Picked My Nose On National TV (and ate it, in some cases) Club."

    Old. Yawn

As are any references to L. Phillips by any fan base.

Actually, I agree, that is why I have never referenced any player, current or former, in any of my posts. Not my style. I just like to talk about the game at hand w/out any digs at either sides players or fan bases cause neither side is perfect.
