  1. Northwestern has had a disappointing season, but they weren't a bad team today. Everybody knows teams change drastically from week to week in CFB. Some were calling Minnesota the worst B1G team since '83 Northwestern after the Michigan game. Then they looked completely legit against Iowa and MSU. MSU beat then-national title contender Wisconsin before looking like total dog crap against Nebraska. Iowa fans were fairly certain they wouldn't even make a bowl after their performance against Minnesota. Now they're thinking Indy.

    Finally, a well-thought out opinion!!!

I can't find any disagreement with this, although I wish I could!

  2. 3 years in a row he's lost to a team with a losing record. One time? I can forgive. Twice? Maybe. But 3 times?

Bo talks about winning Championships. Championship teams don't lose to teams with losing records.

I am sick of this happening. Bo's teams come out like this at least twice a year. Shouldn't happen.

But it continues. Bo ain't getting it done. 8-9 wins a year is great, but losing to bad teams isn't.

    And it's happened every year.

Take it back to the GI Independent boards.

Northwestern has played giantkiller for years in the Big Ten. They are not a bad team. Nebraska has been gashed on the run all year by just about anyone that wanted to try, and NFW (ask any long-time Big Ten fan what that means) basically ran at will, dared the D to stop them and the D failed.

Pelini has his issues, sure, but playing the coaching carousel is just idiotic.

Not a bad team? What world do you live in? They lost 5 straight, have one of the worst defenses in the country statistically, and don't have a winning record. Nah, they're pretty good.

Keep drinking that Kool-Aid, and continue to be satisfied when NU loses because you're a "true fan", and live in a world where you don't believe anyone should be criticized. There was a place where you couldn't criticize anyone...and it fell apart. It was called the USSR. Didn't work out so well.

If you don't like my opinion, that's fine, but at least back yours up with something that's remotely true.

P.S. I'm glad you like Pelini, but blindly following him (anyone) is a mistake.

  3. Didn't Tom loose like 7 bowl games strait in the 80s and with QB Tommie Frazier drop the 92 ISU game? I mean come on, some of you need to get realistic, sometimes Nebraska loses... even games it shouldn't.

Now if you want to take another spin on the coaching wheel for someone who will come to a place that will fire a coach who is a proven winner, consistently getting 9 wins a year, who has built a pretty good culture around his program and will see it pay off eventually with consistency... Well fine, but when whoever is the AD after Osborne is signing some ex-nfl reject for a multiyear high money deal titled "Callahan 2, revenge of the idiots without any perspective over-reacting". I'll laugh, to keep from crying, and stop watching football. Till that day though I'll be thankful that some of you have no actual say in such a decision.

You know how many times TO lost to a team with a losing record? ONCE.

Yes, losing bowls was frustrating. But losing THREE YEARS IN A ROW TO A TEAM WITH A LOSING RECORD, ALL THREE AT HOME is inexcusable.

    Steve? Is that you?

    Who is Steve?

  5. Someone tell me why you're excusing a coach that's lost to teams with losing records 3 years in a row. Has had several letdowns. Has a defense with 2 guys who will play on Sundays, maybe more. Wins some big games, but loses to teams they should beat.

Why is it ok? Why isn't it ok for us to have bigger expectations in year 4 of a regime (bigger than losing to bad teams)?

  6. Apparently some of you guys think it's ok for Bo to talk about winning championships, but then are ok with him when he loses to bad teams with losing records. It continues to happen.

Three years in a row is a trend guys.

  8. They got in a fight and little bro got his nose broken. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!

    http://content.usatoday.com/communities/campusrivalry/post/2010/02/missouri-freshman-tyler-gabbert-ends-up-with-broken-nose-after-dispute/1

Tyler Gabbert is already getting a taste of college life after graduating high school early and enrolling at Missouri last month. Gabbert was in a scuffle Saturday night and ended up with broken nose after being punched at a restaurant.

Gabbert was with older brother Blaine Gabbert, the Tigers starting quarterback, and linebacker Andrew Gachkar when they were involved in an incident with another group.

The unidentified males were described as older than college age. And Gabbert was considered the victim of an unprovoked assault.

"He was attacked," the person told Columbia Press Tribune. "There's no other word for it. You've got an adult who attacked a kid, sucker punched him."

In addition to Tyler Gabbert's injury, Gachkar needed stitches on his hand from slamming it on a table and breaking a plate, according to a police report. No arrests were made by police.

"It looked like the football players got the worst end of the deal," Columbia Police detective Jeff Westbrook said.

The incident in Columbia was common for Gumby's general manager Noah Schmidt, who witnessed the scene and later talked to police.

"It was just some really drunk people," he said. "Both parties are certainly to blame, but with all the confusion there's really no way of knowing exactly who was at fault."

  9. I'll probably catch some grief for this, but here it is:

I've been a Duke basketball fan almost as long as I've been a Husker fan. Don't get me wrong, if it ever came to a NU-Duke game, I'd be there in red. When I was little I was accepted into the "gifted and talented" program in our schools, which was associated with program from Duke. So I think that's where it all started.

Also, I now root for some of the teams that NU has played in the past, especially if they have had good fans come over to our board (killer cacti, some VaTech fans, etc). It's not impossible as long as you're not a fair weather fan about it.

I have to admit to being a Duke fan as well, but only because I know the Plumlee boys.

Having said that, I've always been a KU and Indiana fan (and now Purdue because their coach went to the High School I used to teach at), but I (would) root for NU if/when they play(ed).

And yes, I'm name dropping. I don't have any other claims to fame!

  10. I like the improvement we've seen under Bo. I like the direction the program is going.

However, even though I wans't a big Callahan fan, I thought NU was headed in the right direction after his third year...and we saw what happened.

I was not happy with the offense this last season. But Bo saw that what was happening on the field wasn't conducive to winning, and he was able to bring the offense together enough to end the season well. Improvement is needed next year.

I won't be happy with Bo if:

    1. The offense doesn't improve drastically next year. If they don't, Watson's head on a platter might be enough to placate me.

    2. If NU loses games that they are not supposed to lose next year.

    3. If NU doesn't win the north next year.

    4. NU doesn't go to a BCS bowl in the next two years.

  11. I have no issues with McCoy. I'm not so jealous of him and Texas that I can't respect the kid. He seems OK to me. I'm sure I'd love the guy if he was a Husker.

Gilbert looks raw but full of potential. I'm sure he'll be full-steam when he gets here next season.

I think that's an understatement. This kid will be really good.

I agree. Kid has some of the right stuff.

  12. Seriously. McCoy isn't even in a sling. Why is he not out there? Forget the NFL... this is the biggest game of his life.

    :flush

He just quit.... and it isn't the first time. Does anyone remember when Texas AM beat them? He quit in that game too. He basically said the hell with the fans, team mates, coaches and the university.... I'm going pro. What an embarrasement to the game. Unfrigginbelievable! I would not want him involved with my team in any way. There is no room for that crap in football.

    Right...

    Perhaps you should read this.

    I'll quote the relevant part.

"After the injury, McCoy was begging to go back in to finish his last college game. His dad, interviewed on TV, said the injury wasn't that bad.

But Texas coaches decided to err on the side of caution, and McCoy spent the second half wearing a headset on the sideline, trying to encourage his teammates."

I could go on, but well, I'm pretty sure I made my point.

Said something about saving him for the NFL...why? He doesn't need but one arm to carry a clipboard!!! :dunno

  13. I think NU has a shot at the top 10 next year when it's said and done. I don't believe that NU will have the offense they need to be dominant. I just don't believe in Watson or his offense. Until he proves me wrong on a consistent basis (see his overall B12 offensive rankings in his career), I will continue to think in those terms.

The defense? Yes NU loses a special player...a once-in-a-generation-player. But I still believe NU will have a top 10-15 defense next year, and that will prove (with even a mediocre offense!) to be what helps push NU into the top 10 and a BCS bowl.

  14. How the hell this guy wasn't first team All Big 12 is beyond me.

    Great punter, even better kicker.

I'd bet a lot of you guys said the same thing I did over and over this year when he punted and got the ball to backspin: "Damn, I wish I could get my pitching wedge to do that!"

The guy is money on FG's and he is the best punter in the nation.

He'd better get his props next year...if not...oh well, I'm sure that an NFL contract and a couple million a year (down the road, kickers don't get paid as well early in their careers) will be a nice reward for him after a great career at NU.

  15. Three possible reasons for McCoy's statements:

    1. NU kicked his ass so bad, he's trying to appease Alabama before they play in hopes of not getting beat up as much again--hoping that by saying that they will take it easy on him.

    2. He simply can't remember the B12CG. He got knocked around so badly he's purged it from his memory...either that or Suh knocked his short term memory out!

    3. He's still pissed that NU killed his Heisman chances, and he'll say anything! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

  16. Sigh.

Those who are trying to get to the top have to crawl up the backs of those of us who are already there...

And none of them have made it past our asses yet...no wonder it stinks down there!!!
