  1. Did our defense really play THAT much better in the second half against Okie State? Not really. Our offense ate clock up.

Both of these things happened. The defense played much better and the offense ate clock.

In the first half we held them to three-and-out in their first possession. OK State then had six straight possessions where they either scored immediately or sustained drives.

In the second half, the Pokes went three-and-out on three of their five possessions. That's a heck of a lot better percentage.

You caught me with your statistics. I agree the defense did play a lot better in the second half. They only gave up one meaningful touchdown, since that last minute one didn't really matter. The offense didn't give them much time to rest in the first half so that could be a reason for the 27 points given up.

  2. I completely disagree with the no huddle hurry up stuff. How do you beat a great offense? Keep them off the field. Did our defense really play THAT much better in the second half against Okie State? Not really. Our offense ate clock up. We need to eat clock this weekend too. Mizzou has a great defensive line. Hopefully T-Magic can put up 200-250 through the air to open up the ground attack.

  3. The point, more or less, is that Eric could have delivered the hit to a lower part of the opponent's body which is why the announcers were harping on it.

Even though I think the hit on Martinez' was far more malicious, the announcers didn't give a damn about it because Taylor got up and was fine. However, watching the replay of Martinez' hit shows us that his head slammed onto the ground quite hard. I'm very surprised he wasn't injured after the play.

That's not at all why the announcers were harping on it. They said it was a cheap hit to a DEFENSELESS player. that's some bull. the guy is running down the field on a kickoff. nobody is defenseless in that situation unless Niles is 30 yards past them. Was it helmet to helmet? maybe. but no way in hell was it a "cheap shot"

  4. can we give some props to our receivers today? Niles comes back with a huge game. Kinnie gets his first 3 TDs of his career. McNeill makes some plays. Kyler Reed is a huge threat with his speed. our offense is clicking. i know okie states defense is not good, but at the same time we don't have any more texas defenses on our schedule. we'll see next week what is more legitimate, our offense or mizzou's defense.

  5. as i put in another thread, i spoke to his uncle at parent teacher conferences the other night, and his uncle seemed very confident if he goes to college it will be NU. at NU he would do both sports....he didnt say the odds or anything about him going MLB but i got the feeling he felt that bubba would like to goto NU and play both sports but when the money is in front of you ????? uncle said Notre Dame did not impress him

what are you talking about? he's already committed to Nebraska. i think you're a little late in the news. it's not a matter of where he wants to go to college. that's already decided. it's a matter of IF he wants to go to college.

  6. this is funny to watch. if he's not bursting for a 60 yard touchdown, its a nice 8 yard gain. please don't get drafted too high bubba.

to be honest i'd take the money if i were him though. look at khiry cooper. its not really working out for him...

  7. we'll see how he bounces back against OSU before i make my final judgment on his quarterbacking ability. that being said, it does seem like he doesn't have great moves. we are underrating him as a passer though. he throws two TDs against texas without drops.

  8. once we have all an entire team of bo's recruits we'll see what happens. remember, even the best team doesn't always win every game in a season. it takes some luck to go undefeated. we hold our team to a high standard. don't worry, we'll get there. my prediction is we really can contend for a national championship in the 2012 season. we'll be acclimated to the Big Ten. our new offense (if the zone read is still our offense) should be rolling. our young DB's (ciante, mitchel, cooper, jackson, green, middleton, washington, etc.) will be older and more mature.

my only real concern is the 'rift' in the locker room. right now it seems like there is a split, but i think it's a simple explanation. older guys are used to a passing offense, so people like McNeill aren't going to be happy about Martinez starting over Lee. hopefully that works it's way out of the program by next season. otherwise, maybe bo isn't ready to be a head coach.

  9. I can start two of the following three:

    1. Chad Ochocinco @ Atlanta- His productivity has been low since week one, but coming out of a bye week I'm sure he stressed that he needs the ball more.

    2. Terrell Owens @ Atlanta- Yes, I have both T.O. and Ocho. The rest of my team is strong enough that I tend to play both of them just so I can almost have a guaranteed TD from one of them.

    3. Marques Colston vs. Cleveland- Not terrible this year when it comes to yardage, but he hasn't scored a TD all year. I've also yet to bench him this year, which scares me because I know when I do, he will go off.

    Things to think about:

    1. I play against the best player in our league, which means playing Ochocinco AND Owens could be a bad idea because likely they won't BOTH be extremely productive.

    2. I have Drew Brees which means if Colston had a big day, Brees likely would too. Since I am playing against our league's best player, it might be smart to go for the home run by having Brees and Colston.

    THANKS!

  10. I'm sorry but Gilmore and Cotton really have to go. This is getting truly pathetic. As fans, our expectations of the offensive line must be incredibly low! THIS IS NEBRASKA for crying out loud. We are supposed to have the biggest, baddest hog mollies in the nation. There is no intensity in our offensive line and it's sickening. I don't want to hear the excuse of "Texas has a great D-Line. They are just hard to contain". Well that's some bull$*#%. Our offensive line needs to be feared, and it never will be with our sissy-minded coach. There can still be an argument for him to stay as of now, but by the time Qvale, Sirles, Ash, Coffey, Rodriguez, and Moody are older and starting, we need to be dominant, otherwise it's time to go.

Wide Receivers coaching. Do I even need to post anything here? Yeah we get, blocking is important. Why don't we switch Gilmore to Offensive Line coach? It's all he ever cares about. Who are the difference-making receivers in today's game? I see a future hall of famer in Randy Moss whining every time he gets touched, but who cares?! He catches the damn football. The primary thing receivers need to learn is running routes and catching balls. Blocking comes second in their books. Why did we keep him on this staff? Did Bo just not have any good WR coaches in mind for him to bring in? He's not even a good recruiter, and he's the freaking recruiting coordinator. Who did we retain from the Callahan era? Gilmore and Watson (my rant for this fool needing to leave is for another time and place). It's time to get rid of this infection from those dreadful years. Unfortunately, as fiery as Bo may be, I just don't ever see him having the balls to make these much-needed changes.

  11. Win first, then worry about the politics. It's setting up nicely for us IF we don't stumble against UT, OSU, aTm and get a CCG against an undefeated OU. But this program under Bo has always stumbled at some point. So the tension remains... Should be a good rest of the season. Just F'in BEAT TEXAS, then they can be deemed irrelevant but not until we beat them.

You say it as if you are faulting Bo for this. Every team stumbles each and every year. It's not a 'Bo' thing. It's a college football thing. Also, Bo hasn't had an actual good team yet. He finally does.

  12. all reds- puke. the helmet looks cool but i love the simple small N too much. i sure hope they don't do this. and i'm not even one of those traditionalists (fwiw i love going with the all whites every once in a while, such as when we play CU on the road. in fact, it would be sweet if every time we ended the season @ Iowa, we wore all whites.) back to the topic of this thread... i pray we wear our normal uniforms
