  1. Yeah...What good is Turner in the middle of the field if we don't have a quarterback to get him the ball there? It's no news that Taylor can't throw the ball worth a damn. We've been talking about that for 2 years now. From what I've seen that will never change plus factor in he's not the same runner as before. He's got no stock behind the line. His value has dropped dramatically!

Aside from the fact that his passer rating went up, not down, from the middle of the season to the end, and he's had a very-injured O line in front of him both years, WRs who can't catch the ball, and defenses routinely key on stopping him, you're right. He's worthless.

His #72in the nation passer rating is garbage. His #58 in the nation All-Purpose yards mark is garbage. His #66 in the nation Points Responsible For ranking is garbage. All while being a sophomore. And breaking in a new offensive system. And working with one of the youngest offenses we've had at Nebraska in five years.

Yep. Let's just sh#t-can Martinez and bring in the next guy. Doesn't matter how good he is, he's got to be better than Martinez. Right?

Absolutely. Obviously won't be better right off the bat. That's not what I'm asking for though. I know you're a huge supporter of the guy cause I see your posts backing him up. If we are going all in with Martinez, which is what we're currently doing, we are not going to be in good shape...Those numbers are middle of the pack and nothing to get excited about. You're right the O-line was beat up, but even when he's given time he doesn't utilize the pocket.

Take away all the drops and put in an even realtively healthy OL and TM has a FANTASTIC year stat wise. No way to prove it...but I'd bet my next paycheck on him moving up to the top 25% in many of those categories.

But you would need to do the same for all other quarterbacks for that to be a fair comparison.

  2. 2008 - 9-4

    2009 - 10-4

    2010 - 10-4

    2011 - currently 8-3 with 2 games left.

am i the only one that has seen this trend? 10 wins is great, but 4 losses a year is unacceptable in my opinion. Especially the way we are losing games. I could be overly critical but a decade of mediocrity is starting to get tiresome.

    Beat Iowa! GBR!

You're not the only one. I'm getting sick of just competing for division titles.

  3. What worries me:

Wisconsin safety Aaron Henry said the Badgers designed the simplest game plan they've ever had. They had only four play calls. The emphasis: Keep Martinez from running. Make him throw.

Against defenses with a pulse we are going to have to rely on Martinez's ability to throw. With as much as the coaches talked up Martinez before the season, he hasn't really shown much if any improvement in this area.

  4. I am not going to buy into the hype just b/c he played better than Cody and Taylor for 1 day.

One day, in a scrimmage, in August, made Taylor the starter. Before that, he was the 3rd QB on the team.

Unless he has been kicking their butts all spring..

He has. It wasn't just the spring game where Brion has looked like the best QB on our team.

....and you know all of this how? :bs:

Considering that Carnes is having a fairly tough time understanding the offense, I'm going with :bs: too...

I'd have to agree with BigWillie here. Everything I have heard from people who are lucky enough to attend practices is that Martinez has had an unimpressive spring. I just hope Martinez can make a huge improvement in his passing and decision making, or Carnes gets the mental aspects of the offense down. We need a complete QB, or else we could see a repeat of last year.

  5. Well Bo picked his guys and there is nothing we can do but hope for the best. People are already saying it's going to fail before the staff is even officially announced. It isn't the first time we promoted a GA (see Tom Osborne) nor hire a high school head coach (see Dan Young). This is probably Bo's last chance, let's hope he and TO are better at evaluating coaching talent than us.

Smiled at the bold phrase ... that is amazing. Again, TO would have been fired real quick with this same thinking.

I don't see the Bo hire as anything like a five year time frame ... maybe I don't know my university that well ... could be. I don't see TO hiring Bo with this short of a lease. I think he hired him with a commitment for as long as he needs ... unless he throws it away.

Yeah you are probably right. I think I let all the doom and gloom posters get in my head.

  7. Does anyone else think it's kind of strange that there is a job posting for an offensive coordinator position? I was under the impression positions were filled by whoever the university likes and wants to talk to rather than any Joe applying.

It's probably just a requirement of the university to post any open positions. UT did the same thing for defensive coordinator when Muschamp left.

  8. I think most people's opinions on this would be different if we didn't have such a great recruiting class.

I can understand CJ being upset about the whole deal. He is kept in the dark about the coach who is responsible for his development and potential for having a future in the NFL. Maybe there is a legitimate reason for this, we don't know yet. I'm wondering what Starling's reaction will be if Watson is fired.

  9. Aren't their profiles private? I looked them up and I have no access to their walls, where I assume they made these comments. If they are private, can they really be considered public domain? How could the Big 12 find this out without invading their privacy? Are they going to start screening the players phones for disparaging texts as well?

  10. Guess how many of them live in Texas. I remember a discussion of how all the officials and the US Federal Reserve and Treasury Dept came from Goldman Sachs ... they call this type of thing "regulatory capture."

This was also the crew at the Missouri game that watched Burkhead get his head nearly twisted off.

That my friend was Iowa State

And that same crew was at Iowa State. The Greg Burks crew were officiating A&M, ISU, and Texas. I hope we don't get them against CU.
