OMG seriously?
Yup. This trophy is pure college football/fun/awesome. Let's make sure it doesn't disappear!
Granted the big ten trophy games aren't meaningful trophies like a conference championship trophy or crystal ball are, but they are fun bits of what makes college football college football and what makes the Big Ten the Big Ten.
Bits of Broken Chair was the only one for Nebraska that didn't seem completely forced. Let's bring in back and have some fun!

Good article on how pre-season ranking love fest of the SEC (specifically s. carolina and A&M) has created the current SEC love fest at the top of the rankings:

Just FYI for Husker fans, Sally's is closed this season. They're planning on putting up some apartments or what have you above so it's closed for the season. When it re-opens or if it opens under a different name next year is still unknown. As for other bars, BWW is right across the street from the stadium and has a big beer garden (16 oz cans) and usually doesn't take super long to get in. Otherwise, Dinkytown (The Library, Blarney's, Burrito Loco) and Stadium Village (Stub & Herb's, Campus Pizza, Big 10) are options. I highly recommend Campus Pizza as they have great greasy college pizza and a full bar. You can also always just walk around and enjoy the campus. We're pretty friendly because we have no other option after 40+ years of sub par football to cheer about. Be nice (and perhaps bring a 6 or 12 pack of beer to show generosity & goodwill) & people will probably invite you into their tailgates. You may not even need the gesture.
Hi guys. Scoops McCcracken basically nailed it with all the bars he listed and unfortunately he's correct about Sally's being closed for the year. Stub n Herbs in Stadium village has been there forever and is a great college bar. BWW is a stones throw away from the stadium. And Like Scoop said the bars in Dinkytown are fun as well and that's about 10-15 minutes from the Stadium.
Looking forward to hosting you guys this week! I've heard nothing but great things about Husker fans and hope you all have a safe trip. The ones I ran into 2 years ago were very friendly. I know Husker fans have a great reputation for treating visiting fans well in Lincoln so I hope Gopher fans return the favor. Enjoy the Twin Cities, the campus of the U, and the stadium!
These two pretty well covered your options for pre-gaming near the stadium. If you don't mind the cold, BWW is a good option with the large outdoor patio and right next to the stadium (seems to be taking over the big outdoor pregame role that Sally's used to fill).
Also, if you want to tailgate and don't have a parking pass to one of the lots, the East River Flats parking lot offers a cheap option at $10 per car. It is not well advertised and most opposing fans never hear about it. It is about a 10-15 minute walk from the stadium (and I think there is actually a shuttle you can hop on somewhere along that walk to make that shorter). There won't be as many people as the more expensive lots, but if you are just looking for a place that is close to the stadium and cheap to have a few drinks and grill some food, this wouldn't be a bad option. Here is an old discussion by gopher fans about the lot: http://www.forums.gopherhole.com/boards/showthread.php?33730-East-River-Flats-by-the-hospital-tailgating and here is some general info about it: http://www.minneapolisparks.org/documents/permits/parking/East-River-Flats-Parking-U-of-M-Gopher-Football-Games.pdf

I think that I'm okay with it being like 1997 again...

I never realized it much over the years when the Huskers were steam rolling everyone but non Husker fans hated Nebraska because of their swagger. Somewhat why we hated Miami, Free Shoes and the Sooners. I guess even watching Suh swat Hawkins aside and spiking the ball into the fence several years ago didn't seem like much of a deal (it was freakin awesome!!) but I am sure that any CU fan didn't think such. Watching highlights on Youtube generally results in swagger from the Huskers. Now we are starting to see it again even in practice reports. I bet we see more of it this year. So is it swagger or what. Regardless..... it's back! How many more days?
"I don't buy into that," Pelini said. "They can swagger all they want — they've got to execute. That's all we care about. I'm not even sure what swagger is. Whatever. You can swagger as long as we win football games."

Just thought I would bring this back from the grave just to remind us of how much better recruiting is going this year....

Cyrus Hobbi would be nice as well

Doc's Sports (docsports.com) lists us as a "Top Contender" for the BCS championship this year.
Unfortunately I'm having a hard time taking this guy seriously. I like the hype, but after reading his analysis I think he may have only watched sun belt games and maybe the bowl game. Here's an excerpt:
"They lost the nation’s best defensive player, but the D is deep, physical and experienced. And offensively they have one of the league’s best quarterbacks to go along with nine returning starters."
Who knows maybe this guy knows something the rest of us don't. Let's hope somehow he's right!

"In anticipation to the kick-off of the college football season, we take a look back at past college football moments and how they impacted the face of the sport. Vote now and tune into College Football Live, Monday-Friday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN for our experts take!"
They pose this question:
"Which team would have won had Michigan played Nebraska in 1997?"
Even though , click the link below anyway:
In case you're not sure, the correct answer is

Sorry for my second stadium themed post in a row. That being said I stumpled across this and thought it was amusing. Texas Tech is talking about expanding their stadium(http://www.depts.ttu.edu/communications/stadium/). They posted a couple "renderings" of what the stadium would look like. This is one of them:
that crowd look a little familiar?
apparently their crowd wasn't good enough to fill an imaginary stadium so that had to use ours.
Photoshop a couple cornheads out and slap a TT over an N on one hat and call it good.

I suggest Red, or we could wear red, or maybe red, on second thought red. We are the Big Red. Not the big change your color to suit the need today.
Pride in our colors and tradition.
I don't really have an opinion either way, just was curious to see what people thought now that we will be playing in stadiums that are all red already. But just to play devil's advocate, you did say "colorS" implying more than one color or more than just red, why not take pride in the others?
I do think it is possible to take pride in tradition but also to realize that traditions to change with time and all traditions start somewhere. What would be wrong with starting a tradition of wearing a different color at 2 stadiums so that we don't look like fans of the home team.
On the other side of the coin, I do worry that if husker fans do do something along these lines that it could be a slippery slope to some people thinking that for some reason trying to create a "b*******" in the sea of red is a good idea.
-
Nebraska fans are used to wearing red wherever we go. Red won't exactly stick out in the crowd at Wisconsin or Ohio State. Do nebraska fans switch to black for these road games? White? Or do we stick with red and blend into the crowd?

I feel that to complete this class we are in need of three high caliber athletes.
1. WIDE RECEIVER
NU needs another play maker at wide receiver.
2. OFFENSIVE LINEMEN
It would be nice if NU got another good linemen.
Depth, Depth, Depth at this position is crucial for the future of the offense!
Bottom line! Need more competition at this position to make good players great players!
3. RUNNING BACK
Need a blue chipper to come and make an impact.
It is not crucial to get a running back because of the depth we have, but getting a top running back would complement the current class!
3. Braylon Heard in N

I have been dreading this game all year. I know this one will be tough to pull out a win on the road. Kansas has got some gamers in Reesing, Briscoe, Meier, and Sharp...these guys are smart veterans and will be competing all day against our defense and sadly if we get behind, we may not be able to catch up (see Texas Tech loss). If Kansas gets 20 points, they can win it. That's the thing now...our defense has to play mistake free football to win. This was unreal vs. OU but I don't expect us to never give up a big play rest of the year. We need to put some scores up on Kansas.
I am not putting my score up in the prediction contest right now because I don't like it right now. We get all amped up after beating OU but 10 points will not beat Kansas at their place. Major trap game to bring us down to earth. Hope this doesn't happen. Need some to put my prediction up later in the contest forum. We need to finally get that game where we bust out and put it all together on offense against a B12 opponent...like 4th qtr vs. Mizzou...but little did we know Mizzou is back to garbage this year!
somebody should ask this guy...
