  1. Try and remember all this fellas

Please try and remember that 09 NU is not the only program to ever lose some good senior offensive players. Uhhh.....it happens all the time and without the new offense blowing chunks the size of Jupitor vs some extremely, extremely marginal defenses (Iowa State?????.....Baylor????). At Lincoln to boot.

In other words some decline was accepted as inevitable but falling off the face of the planet Earth???......uhhh.....nope.

    Next excuse please!

These are all very good points. I don't agree with the we have all our good players injured right now comment as well as the give them time to fix it comment. Paul Johnson has always had sub par players especially at Navy and has still won. Time to fix this problem you say....what about GT now in the top 10 in the country in PJ's second season. He is winning and these aren't even his recruiting class!

  2. Please stop blaming Bill Callahan.

You sound like Barack Obama blaming Bush for everything.

Pelini is the coach - he's responsible...

Exactly..and where is Paul Johnson? Running the second best rushing offence in the country at Georgia Tech!!! I cant beleive I am actually seeing Georgia Tech in the top ten in the nation and Nebraska unranked.

  3. I am so sick of this worthless offence. It is not Lee, and Green is not the answer at this point. We are just a weak offence period and it is due to leadership in my opinion. The Callahan era had no "Balls" and it showed. Our offence at this point is the same way. NO BALLS AND AT THIS POINT NO HUSKER HEART!

Callahan cancer is still effecting us 2 years later.

Agreed, although everyone is going to pin this on the head coach. <_<

your right, but fumbles, bad passes, horrible reads, and stupid turnovers are effects of a undiciplined and un coached offence. that falls on the OC.

  4. Ah yes, here come the meltdowns.

It's not a meltdown. There are maybe thirty offenses in the country that would give up 8 turnovers and score 7 points on Iowa State.

The offense has been annihilated by coaching.

Agreed again!. Any offensive coach that worthless Bill Callahan chooses has no business in football nation. We are about intimidation and power, and Watson will never be about intimidation and power!

  5. I remember feeling this way only once in my life about the Huskers. It was around October of 2007 when it became apparent that Nebraska had fallen so low to be an embarrassment both to themselves and the state. I now feel this way, not about the team, but a part of it. Bo Pelini was hired to instill a sense of toughness and nastiness in the defense. In two seasons we can now be proud to say that we have a premiere defensive unit nationally. We play solid on the line, solid in the secondary, and Suh is a one-man punt blocking machine.

Shawn Watson, Barney Cotton, and Ted Gilmore, however, need to be fired and fired immediately. I do not care who points the finger at what. From front to back his offensive unit is an absolute disgrace to the state of Nebraska and the university. As I said last week, they are stupid, undisciplined, and inept. It all starts with the line, who cannot create a stable pocket, who cannot run block with any consistency. Our receivers are so horrendous it defies explanation. Running backs cannot be blamed for holes that don't exist. And for those Lee apologists in the crowd, tell me how his pussyfoot play helps this team? He's useless as a quarterback. He may not ever be the sole reason this team loses a game, but he does little to help in winning (a la Sam Keller).

I have never been so embarrassed as a Husker fan to watch our offense. Niles Paul, Holt, and Lee specifically have no business on the field, but one cannot conceivably account for the dozen turnovers we had by pointing to the players. It just doesn't happen. It's the coaching, period. It's the fundamentals. It's the mindset. Our offense is sick, like our defense was sick in 2007. If Pelini doesn't cure it, he could lose this team just as badly as Callahan lost it before he was fired.

Newsflash, folks. This team doesn't have what it takes to make a bowl game. Our defense is useless if our offense can't score. We are in bad, bad shape.

    100% agree. amazing!

  6. First off welcome to Huskerboard DH. Johnson basically runs the option because he usually had inferior talent at Navy and now at GT (No offence meant to Navy or GT fans). It will be interesting to see how he does in the future.

    T_O_B

    :)

good point but GT is 2nd in the country in rushing offence and this is only Jouhnson's 2nd season. Just would have been nice to see the Husker of old with a power house run offence and great defence that doesn't have to spend most of the game on the field.
