I'm so tired of losing big games, whether by 1 point, 10 points or 50 points, how many more years are we going to have to endure this 5, 10, 15?
My guess is that you are too young to remember Tom Osborne's first ten years against the Sooners of Oklahoma. If it is any consolation, I know how you feel, based on Barry Switzer and Jamelle Holloway.

I don't care what Herbstreit says, pro or con. He is a talking head, not a thinking one. Things "trickle through his head, like water through a sieve"*
*shamelessly stolen for Lewis Carroll

Against a terrible Luke Fickell coached OSU who lost their starting QB at home...good job Pelini
So help me out here...are you saying a Bo Pelini win against Ohio State was less of an accomplishment than a Mike Riley loss against Wisconsin? If not, what are you saying?
Be careful, you are boxing yourself into a corner.
-
No, just in games that mattered, specifically since we joined the Big Ten.
Tell us all again, which games "don't matter" in conference play?
I really could give half a sh!t about Pelini, but it is comments like this that set me off. If we lose to Rutgers or Purdue, they really, REALLY do matter. Does anybody here believe different?...anybody?...
-
So an Overtime loss after a questionable no call by the refs on 3rd down is the same as losing by 40 points to a team you beat via comeback earlier in the year. Yeah, all losses are created equal....lol.
As I said, I don't rate losses and I can't classify as to what is a "quality loss". Same with the first seven wins that the talking heads had denigrated before this game. Every win is a good win.
-
Pelini's Huskers would have folded under like a wet noodle after Wiscy's 1st td.
Can you go back through the records and see who has the biggest comeback win as a Huskers coach?
Report back what you find and then square it with what you say.

It's hard to pretend both the blocked trolls in this thread
If a troll defined as someone who does engage in groupthink and group speak, count me in as being one.
This thread was preordained by such herd mentality that, if we lost, there would be endless talk about how bad Pelini would have lost, or did lose, or some such drivel. Its a salve that cures a lot of butthurt that came when the 2015 season blew up into so many people's faces, and I guess it's still feels soothing in 2016. Don't want to hear me talk about Pelini, don't bring up Pelini. quit picking at the scab and let it heal so some of you won't need that butthurt salve.
My only surprise is that we didn't see the ever popular "He left the cupboard bare!" excuse rear its old, tired head yet.

If we are really pretending it's a competition on who lost better to Wisconsin
Don't put this back on me, I didn't mention any scores in comparing losses...that was that other guy saying something about 70-31.
I am pretty much binary when it comes to losses. It either is or it isn't one.
-
The last time a Pelini Husker team faced a deflated Badger team, they lost 70-31. Would you like a link?
So Riley has more "quality losses" than Pelini?
-
This thread is like listening to the slow pitch softball team that lost 22-21. They had nine errors, three strike outs, four guys fell down running the bases, two guys end up on the same base, but it was the one questionable call at first that they can't get over. That dang ump!
No team or coach had a perfect game last night, neither did the refs. That's pretty standard in any form of human endeavor.

Even with the disastrous season last year, Wisconsin's win was more of an "escape" than a convincing win last year. I think Nebraska is a much better team this year, so I don't get how they can be overwhelmingly picked as a favorite.
Then again, it is somewhat foolish of me to speculate when in 12 hours we will know.
I would have to say that growing up nine miles from the Wisconsin border and spending time in Wisconsin didn't endear me to the "hippie college" in Madison and the binge drinking behaviors that passes for normal in many parts of that state. Once these people found out I was from Nebraska, I was lectured on how we should govern, how we should farm, how we should hunt deer, fish, take care of our county roads...and how to play football. ( I guess they conveniently forget that the guy who taught THEM how to play football as of late came from Nebraska )
So yeah, I would like to see Nebraska 8-0 tomorrow morning a little more than the average fan.
End rant.

Kansas HC makes 800K. What a joke.
One could look at a football coaching making $800,000 annually as ridiculous in a lot of different ways.

I had an uncle on that 1957 team...
...I think they lost to Hawaii that year. The coach refused to throw a pass for some reason until the game was almost out of reach.
-
I looked around a little bit, and the lists of "all time wins" are like snowflakes: No two are ever exactly alike. One even had Nebraska already ahead of Texas.
That being said, I think Nebraska gains ground on Notre Dame and Texas.
-
Where are you getting these numbers Bowfin?
I pulled them from here, which was the first list I found:
At the time, I didn't know that there were several different variations of such a list. Some places make a tie "half a win, half a loss", some may or may count games that were retroactively forfeited because of cheating, etc., etc.
I can't or won't say which is right, but I suppose the NCAA would be the final arbiter of these things. Whatever is the consensus, I will go with that. I just saw that rankings might change this season.

People have the right to chose if they want to stand or kneel. Glad you finally agree.
Nobody should have to be subjected to political theater by means of ambush. If one pays to see a football game, then give them a football game and leave out the other crap...is that wrong?
I just despise all of this "Look at me!" sh!t that tries to get pawned off as something noble or useful. Like that other guy said, "Do something."

your lack of reading comprehension has COMPLETELY missed the point here
Nope. Sometimes, you read stuff and it doesn't make any sense, even if you slow down and reread it several times. Sometimes, there is no point that is germane or logical to the discussion at hand. For example:
We have now officially brought in "Kaz beats his wife" to prove that, all the way back on page one, Pelini shouldn't be a head coach...because everybody knows wife beating and toxic locker rooms are hand in glove. We might even make a case that Pelini is responsible for Kaz beating his wife if we follow the same chain of logic, right?
I really can't put together something to refute this. I don't think I even want to try.

I'm all for that.

I'm not buying Anderson's story
Fair enough. Believe what you will.
I'm not buying a lot of this "Black Lives Matter" stuff myself, so we have our preferences.
We can say for certain that the team was blown apart when it deviated from football into politics, correct? (rhetorical question, no need to answer since the answer is apparent.)

Kazinski was in contact with players after. hell. he admitted it such on a radio show
I didn't know that there was a restraining order that prevented this. Is this the same thing as saying grandma can't see the kids after the divorce?
-
Something special might just be happening in Lincoln...
I'll go with that. I certainly don't concede any upcoming games. IF Ohio State is so great, let's see it first.

Who decides that dissent has no need to exist?
Who decides that dissent is a better choice than actual problem solving?
So far, we have the NFL ratings trashed, a pee wee football team falling apart, 193 million posts for and against, one lone kid standing in Decatur Illinois for the anthem, an East Carolina band threatened within an inch of its life, and an apology from the International Police Chief's Organization during their luncheon buffet.
Yeah, that's worth the
lack of realeffort. -
Probably doesn't happen without the protests.
So it happened, now what?...

What a tremendous overreaction to players taking a knee
...and the coaches' reaction to players NOT taking a knee, which is even sadder.

You nailed it.
Most Wisconsin past times are centered around drinking with something going on in the background, like football, the salmon run on Lake Michigan, a college education, softball, deer hunting, etc. I will tell you that it's a lot better at a football game than a row of drunken guys shoulder to shoulder along a river trying to cast large, sharp hooks with a six ounce weight attached and fighting with the guys in the boats. The Manitowoc hospital used to have a special ER station set up just fro salmon snaggers so they didn't clog up the regular ER room.
I could be seeing this through the tunnel vision of only one person's firsthand experience, but that's what I did see it first hand.
