  1. Hey all,

I'm looking to find a group of people who either need an extra player for either a team in a league, or are looking for people to play pick-up games and what not. I've been having problems finding a team to join since the "free agent" things on Lincoln Parks and Rec website never seem to come of anything, and I lack a good number of "athletic" friends that want to go out and play.

I'm looking to join/play both soccer (indoor) and basketball over the fall/winter.

    GBR!

  2. Have about 8-9 other guys plus me making the trip up from lincoln. We'll be to the stadium extremely early to tailgate, along with our inflatable lil red and red flag flying proud. No idea where we will be at, but feel free to swing by if you see us, I promise we'll have plenty of adult beverages to spare.

    GBR

  3. Sneaking in booze is unbelievably easy, done it many times and never was worried about getting caught. Grab a couple of 1 dollar whiskey shooters, buy a pepsi from the concession stand and your money.

As others have described before about having to be there so early and still get a bad seat sometimes is the reason why I didn't get tickets this year. For people like me who are actually of legal drinking age, it's fun to go downtown and mingle with other people before heading to the stadium. What it really boils down too is it's actually pretty annoying, more than half the people around you could care less about the game, and are just there because it gives them a reason to drink.

Especially for those who like to tail gate before every game, we had to get up around 7:30 just to be able to get 3 beers in before we had to leave for the stadium. After two years of doing this, it just got old. I love being at the games and I love the game day atmosphere but the extra hassel that general admission seating brings to the table makes it horrible IMO.

  4. Maybe now it will become even more obvious why we left when we had the chance. All the other schools mad about us leaving probably just had an "ahhhh" moment.

Well maybe not, but this just solidifies how great this move for the university was. As if it wasn't great before, this article just made me smile.

    Suckers.

  5. If Henery doesn't get drafted and goes all the way to free agency would be a huge suprise/mistake in my eyes. There has to be people high up in organizations that see what we all see, and if not, numbers don't lie.

  6. I just have to say, (and I may catch some slack for this) but who really thinks that Crick is good enough to go pro this year? Maybe we have all been spoiled by Suh, but maybe it's just me but even if crick were to go, I wouldn't be that upset about it. He would be doing himself major harm to even thing he would make it in the pro's.

Ans it may just come from a product of us fans expecting to much from our d-line after Suh, but after this season, who really thinks he is a dominate player?

As for Dennard, we should all be rejoicing that he is coming back. I thought for sure he was gone. This dude has serious talent, and I expect him to be top ten two years from now. (Hell I assumed he would be no later the second round this year)

  7. The best part was when (I can't remember which of the guy's whose opinion I don't care at all about ) said that because of Bo's attitutde it's showing up in our players, hence the 16 penalties.

And when Blackistone (sp.) called Devaney Duh-Vay-Knee, I just smirked.

Shows like that to me mean nothing, they give their "expert" opinion based on the 30 minutes of internet research they do before the show.

  8. I've been at the last two games and been hearing the complaining about the announcers, and I just have to say wow. Does he just wait and wait for the chance to bring that subject up?

One more question, how much did they talk about the suspension? Cause I feel like from just watching this it was brought up a lot.

Hmmm...not sure that they even brought it up at all.

In the video he says something about mentioning the suspension earlier. Must not have been brought up too much then.

  10. the Grata used to be cougar central when I lived in Lincoln. All those rich housewives from south Lincoln liked to go there and get drinks and flirt with younger guys... add in the element of husker football, and that place just gets even better.

Yes yes, the Grata is still famous for being a cougar hideout, I highly suggest it.

As for the schemes, he was going over it from a linebackers point of view (obviously) but a lot of it was reading the offensive linemen and knowing that when they do a certain move, one was called the elephant line, then they are automatically tought to go the opposite way of the lineman because it's always going to be a rollout to the opposite side of the way the linemen are pulling. Another was after they get a big play and do hurry up they always like to run a QB read and try to get the defense out of position. He covered a lot more interesting stuff but I don't want to give more away in case that snake brown is trolling our boards.

One interesting thing he said was is he always felt the defense played better on the road because at home the stadium gets rockin on defense, which makes it harder for communication defensively. But also added that if it wasn't loud, he would be disapointed in us. Saturday can't come soon enough.

  11. So my cousin runs karaoke at a local Lincoln bar called the Grata, and I went out to visit him tonight only to find out that on every Thursday coach Ekeler comes out and talks to the crowd here about the game the week before and the upcoming game. And I'm happy to brag that I know some of the different defensive schemes we are running this weekend to beat Texas. Plus he showed us the video they are gunna show the team before the game. Awesome stuff.

So next Thursday head out to the grata, he takes questions and hangs out for awhile, and Mike Rozier even showed up tonight along with touchdown Tommie. Hadn't seen a post about this before so I figured I should be unselfish and share with the awesome board members :).

  12. I'm wondering if there will be a special Tunnel Walk for this game because of and in conjunction with the ROTW site.

Yes it is speculation but it wouldn't shock if it did happen.

Heard a rumor they were going to play the first part of the Johnny Cash song "Gods gonna cut you down" with a special video. I guess the song, at least, has been axed, although I dont know about the video. I know they will have something special, and I am sure it will have everyone pumped....

Heard the same thing. And the "special video" would be directly correlated to 00:01.

:yeah heard the same thing as well

  13. see you 10/23 it will be my first trip to stillwater for a game. last time i was down there was for work about 5 years ago and you still had the large division 2 type stadium. im excited to see the house of T. Boone
