  1. You bring up an interesting time in Husker lore. TO had struggled to beat Oklahoma from the time he took over until that magic year 1978. He was not respected for his achievements on the field, after all beating up on Kansas and Iowa State was not what we wanted. I was upset that TO couldn't bring it home and the press crucified him. It got ugly and Dr. Tom had had enough and left for Colorado. I, like many my age, wanted him to go, but not really we just wanted that one win. We cussed in corners, hated the bandwagonning fans that worn Oklahoma gear just to piss us off, not unlike the local Teaxass fans now and had he left, OH my, I believe we would have drove to Colorado and put a bag on his head, tied him up and drove back to Lincoln and said "Your home now, just beat the Sooners!" As a Nebraska fan I can tell you that your Dad was not the minority at that time. But like all Nebraska fans, we love college football, Saturday mornings, gameday, walking over the bridge, seeing that Sea of Red coming to the stadium and knowing that no matter what, TO made the right and tough decision.

Nice username. :) Agree with your post. I later on, coach T.O. had a hard time winning some bowl games and I can remember when many people would say he needs to change, but he did and in my opinion did many changes. Many of his x's and O's can be seen in today's offenses.

  2. A players coach, thats what I like. Sounds like a hard worker and has that old school coaching aspect with player respect. He is a position coach, give him a chance. Its not like he is HC. He sounds like a good recruiter in a prep HS system, but I tell you that it will translate into college. A good recruiter is a good recruiter no mater what level.

  3. That was a heck of an article! Sounds like a Roy Hobbs of all sports!

Lord knows I can't handle another Carl Crawford... Especially if Bubba would go to the Red Sox later in his career! We do need to ask ourselves this one question thought, if Bubba has all those intangibles is it possible that we could make him a premiere prospect in the NFL?

Also do we know which sport he likes better?

Going to the Red Sox would make my day! :woo Hopefully staying out of the hands of the evil empire would be even better!

I hate the Red Sox! Go Bombers!

Watch him go to Tampa Bay. lol....Both of us would be screwed. :o Back on topic though, I do think he will go pro, hope not, but if it was me take the $$$'s, if it doesn't work out one can get a pretty fine education later.

  5. Cody is a good QB. Watson is not letting him play his game. More spread style play action pass. 1620 the zone discussed this today. Watson is not making a game plan that can be successfull for Cody. A successful OC can do that and its not being done.

  6. Hey BO -

If the crowd has an effect on the way your team plays, why didn't you beat Texas by 45 points?

I don't think Bo is saying the crowd has anything to do with how the football team plays, but more that he was expecting a louder crowd, especially when someone as important as Turner Gill returns to Memorial Stadium.

I don't know why fans weren't loud, i wasn't there for the game, nor did i watch it. I listened to the game on the radio and quite frankly the crowd sounded fine, the only time it was not fine was when i heard Sharpe say that crowd was kinda of quiet and then later when a defensive player was trying to get the crowd into the game.

Our defense should never have to try to get our crowd into the game, especially when we are winning.

I tell you what, i remembered why i hate some Husker fans Saturday night. Complaining about how we aren't blowing our opponent out of the stadium by atleast 4 scores by halftime, really makes us look cocky and arrogant. All i ask from Bo Pelini and the Huskers is a win and to keep winning, and as long as that is happening, sore throat or not, im screaming my lungs out for the Huskers.

As for people blaming the cold on the reason it was so quiet in Memorial Stadium, that is such a lame excuse, come back to Memorial Stadium when you finish pulling the panties from your ass crack.

I seem to remember the Colorado - Husker game from 2008 being cold and yet it was very loud when Alex Henery kicked his school record FG, and when Suh intercepted the ball and ran it back for a TD.

    +1

  7.

While no one wants to admit it, NU has a higher percentage of blue hairs than anyone else in the nation. It's far more of a social event for them than a sweating bullets-fired up on 30 beers-ultra passionate-"win or die" SEC redneck screaming his lungs out is for them.

I remember going to the Baylor game in 1996 and being in the faculty section. I've honestly been to funerals with higher excitement than what that section had. Frankly is was disgusting as all they seemed to care about was going to get pizzas and sitting on their huge fat asses. Yeah, it was "Baylor" but I honestly never saw even "one" tenured prof yell, clap or even stand up the whole game. Damned if I know why they even go.

I think NU desperately needs younger blood for a better home field advantage. It's great we have fans that have attended for 10,000 consectutive years but somehow we need a changing of the gaurd.

  8. Don't get me wrong, we have the best fans in America, BUT I have to agree with Bo on this one. Simply put our fans need to be louder. I don't care if its -20 outside or 100 outside stand up sometimes it is not going to kill you. 85,000 people can be loud, Missouri game, Oklahoma game '09....we just need to be more often. Compared to what Bo has seen in the SEC, Memorial stadium probably sounds like a PGA golf course on a Sunday afternoon.

  9. We only played Martinez last night. Some game time before A & M game seeing what he can and can't do on his ankle. Green is out and Lee is out. Why not at least give Washington a little playing time just incase we need him next week. Did I miss something, or is Washington not a factor anymore? Get him ready.
