  1. I've been watching recruits come and go for over 40 years and the one constant has been that a lot of high school kids look like super stars in high school and their talent doesn't translate to the college game. its a funnel:

    Pee-wee's tons of kids.

    JR FB a few less.

    Middle school a lot less.

    Freshman FB a few less.

    Sophmore FD a few less.

    High school a few less.

College (Big Time) a lot less.

    NFL a ton less.

    Its a crap shoot.

Here's a good analogy: You date a beauty queen and finally get to score but she just lets you do all the work. You date a girl who is less pleasing to the eye but when you finally score you both work at it and its like fire works in Boston on the forth of July.

    :cheers

That was a legitimately spectacular analogy brudda

  2. Unfortunate to see a guy of his promise waste it. UCLA doesn't have any good coaches, especially no good defensive coaches. It's unfortunate to see a guy like this waste his talent on a school that doesn't have the coaches he needs to make him the AA nebraska coaches would have.

I hope he takes the academics seriously because he now has a better chance to make more money in a career with his diploma than he will with football. I just don't know how he hasn't seen this with UCLA and Slick Rick and all his BS promises. Also, if he is truly a humble guy he doesn't pick UCLA and Los Angeles!! I'm sorry, but with Slick Rick and his crap staff he has a better chance to be bound for mediocrity than glory.

Anyway, I give Carnes much more props today than Owa. Why?? Because he decided to choose the "Hard Road." He didn't take the easy way out and go to a school where he could have started from day one and been the guy. But, he would have only been the guy at WKU and no one else would have ever heard of him. He decided to challenge himself and push himself to come to a school where he will have to compete and earn his spot. He also didn't give up on his dream, a dream of playing for a BCS MNC. This will be happening in the next few years, and he just might be the man leading us to it and throwing sweet fades to Cody Green in the endzone.

    Yeah...uh ... wat?

  3. 1620 reporting conflicting stories that Owa has signed an LOI with Bolivia, Western Kentucky, and the 49th Street YMCA League.

    WHEN WILL IT END

    :rollin:LOLtartar

as far as the when is concerned, i would put money on 1:30 this afternoon ;)

    :rollin jesus christ

  4. I'll sure take your word on this guys as I am obviously not as informed as you are (admitedly). Hopefully you are right and Owa heads to Lincoln. How long before the next game? :bonez

It feels like we're being troll'd.

    amirite?

  5. Like I said..... Why is it a bigger decision for a 5 star versus a 3 star rated player? I sure wouldn't make a good recruiter! But then again I wouldn't be babysitting a waffler. Do I really want a kid that can't make a decision after a year of recruiting? Does he enjoy the attention so much that he has to wait until the last minute? Think about it! I guess that's how the recruiting game is played but how Nebraska fares down the road is how well the 3 or 4 star and walkon's develop more so than how many 5 star players show up. At the moment Owa couldn't carry someone like O'Hanlon's jock strap even if he is N. But like I said. I'd make a poor recruiter!

If you have read anything about this kid, he is not much for attention. He likes a low profile and he wants to make this decision based on other factors not concerning any selfish ambition. He has a mother and siblings to think about. He's a class act, he's "waffling" so he can make the best decision for himself and his family.

... and 3 and 4 stars necessarily need some development before they start contributing. A five-star guy like Owa has the toolset to come in and make contributions and plays. A team goes after five stars not for the status but for supreme talent these kids possess.

    Well said.

Also I dont believe a kid who hasnt had a decommittment and hasnt committed to a program can be "waffling" either. Waffling is a term used to describe a kid that has committed and is having 2nd thoughts.

Owa is not a gabbertized recruit. You're right EZ, a waffling recruit is a torn commit.

  7. He should jump on this opportunity because there are kids that pay for all four years and never play a down. At least he would be able to get some of his tuition payed for and experience everything about Cornhusker football even if he doesn't get to play.
