  1. Nebraska has told him that he's their top guy on their board regardless of position. As we all know he's done the jamal turner thing by paying his way to see Neb multiple times. I won't be surprised if he commits within the next month or so. Will be a visitor for the Ohio St. game and he'll probably be recruiting other players while he's there. thats my prediction on it.

    This is stellar news!

  2. Charles Jackson is light years ahead of Davie when it comes to the books.

f#*k i dont get it... just take care of your sh#t.....

I feel bad for these kids...until I remember how easy high school was. Moderate effort and you should be able to get a 3.0. Now if its ACT stuff then I can understand, but when it's just normal style grades then I do believe it boils down to effort. How bad do you want it boys?

  3. Lets just dream for a moment that this #6 Rivals RB is coming in with likes of Heard, Green, and Ameer. That's a lot of incoming talent and I would have a good feeling that one of them is going to just explode during his time here.

  4. I realize that a few posts back the desire was to let this thread die.

Humbly submitted, the decommittment of Tyler from Mizzou brings up the thought of what QB recruits we would have missed out on had Tyler hung around longer as a commit to the Huskers.

Wouldn't we have missed out on Carnes? Just trying to recall. If so ... man oh man, I'm so glad we got Carnes.

    SheepdogMark

You're right Sheep. We would have missed out on Carnes. We lucked out hardcore.

  5. There are 96 known offers combined between three recruiting services as of today. Notice the trend developing in the SEC region, but more specifically Georgia. While Florida shows the most offers, which is par for the course by NU standards, it's Georgia that surprises me the most. I know we've thrown a handful of offers in years past, but I can't remember a time this early in the recruiting cycle of there being 11 offers in Georgia alone.

Many of the recruiting beatniks had been saying for the last couple of years that Georgia may be overtaking Cailfornia as the state that pumps out the third best quality talent. I am all in favor of raiding the SEC states, however the success of this probably be minimum as a lot of those kids seldom leave that area. BUT continued success on the field will breed large rewards on the recruiting trail.

I think you also need to be picky if your nebraska and going into SEC country. because of character and academic issues.

Just stop posting. While you're at it, retake fourth grade grammar.

Is this towards me? I was rushing through this comment and failed to hit the comma key. I noticed it but didn't care to edit it because its just a blog and the message is rather obvious. Now I do realize there was a poster who didn't make any sense at all and that might be the guy you are referring to. Still, you managed to reply to mine.

I'm pretty sure that was directed at the other dude. If so then that was just stupid if directed at your comment. The no sense poster did say he was Texas right? I think that pretty much wraps it up.

  6. High On Huskers

“I like their coaches they have a great program out there. I’m going up there (Nebraska) April 15 for the spring game; get a chance to see the campus and everything. This will be my first trip to Nebraska.” Thurston said

Nebraska promoted Tim Beck to offensive coordinator after Shawn Watson took a similar position to Louisville. Thurston wants to see the differences in style of play and wants to talk with offensive line coach Barney Cotton.

    Excited About The Huskers

“I talk with Nebraska about every week they are pretty excited about me and I’m pretty excited about them. I talk to Barney Cotton I like him. When he (Cotton) talks to me he’s one of those guys who are not quick to get it over with.” Thurston said

“Barney told me they got an intern there (Brendon Stai) that’s pretty good, he’ll be able to coach out. He told me the intern played in the league for about 11 years so he knows what he’s doing. That should be pretty good.” Thurston said

Good to hear that Cotton is breaking that perception that he isn't much of a recruiter. Sounds like this kid is quite the fan. Chance we snag him after the spring game? Any word on a timetable?

  7. Come to think about it, USC was contacting Jackson after he committed to NU. That is interesting strategy.

The list is quite long. Some is listed but some info comes from posters here that have inside knowledge.

Not all of this is totally confirmed but it is amazing the names that are on both schools radars.

Anthony Sarao LB committed to USC

Cyrus Hobbi OL committed to USC

Greg Townsend Jr committed to USC DE or DT not sure

Joseph Carter DT JUCO committed to NU but was targeted heavily by USC

Damien Stafford DB JUCO committed to NU but was targeted heavily by USC

Aaron Green RB not listed but rumored here as dual target NU commit

Christian Heyward DT USC commit and NU target

Kent Turene LB USC lock but late target of NU and committed to UGA

Max Wittek QB committed early to USC but NU target too

Cody Kessler QB committed early to USC but NU target too

Jalen Grimble DE USC lean but NU target and signed with Miami

    Tre Madden LB USC commit

Charles Jackson DB NU commit but stated here to be USC target after commitment

Tyler Moore NU commit but state here that USC wanted him too

Reeves was also supposedly contacted by USC.

  8. Don't count UCLA out. With Zippy Neuheisel at the helm.

Top 10-12 program though so probably not UCLA even tho Neuheisel is a little weasel. Man this is interesting stuff! Why would TCU fans be happy if it is Oregon?

Based off of that evidence you would have to think Boise St. They are such a feel good story though that I have to admit I would be pretty disappointed by that. Also their recruiting classes aren't anything to write home about there. Their lists on rivals are littered with 2* and 3* players. I counted one 4* (Tyrone Crawford in 2010) in the last five years.

    What about Utah?

  9. Does it hurt us on the recruiting trail at all that we have two lame-duck coaches and two that aren't quite on staff yet? Are we allowed to be recruiting right now anyway? If so, I'd sure like to have a full staff out there. Just not sure on the ol recruiting calendar.

    a. can you think of a better time of year for such a transition?

    b. are you aware of the reasons for the delay and whether they outweigh any hypothetical damage to the minimal level of recruiting that is done in the two weeks following signing day?

i know it is the prerogative of the internet to find every molehill available for upsizing, but this is a little ridiculous.

This post right here is a classic example of this board. Someone asking a simple question that they are uncertain about, then some "wannabe guru" comes in and is a smartass.

I agree, but in reality, every other board I go to is MUCH worse.

    :yeah

This is a great board and I really appreciate everyone being civil 99% of the time. Things got a little dicey at the end of the season and during our recruiting decommitment period. People got really snappy at each other, but this is still by far the best board I've ever been on. Something about Husker fans makes them not able to stay mad at each other for long.

  10. Well, there's been a bit of a "Get Back" mindset since Callahan left. A lot of fans saying, "you know, we don't need all these 4/5 stars, just look at how we won with Dr. Tom back in the day." Which seems to be a bit of a myth. It isn't like we'll just take some Nebraska kids and groom them all into All-Conference players anymore.

I mention Bo because I think there's a little bit of not liking the recruiting game there. Lots of talk about how he is refreshing, different, shoots straight from the hip. Though we have finished solidly for the most part, I think there's been genuine concern at one time or another with recruiting. And I think Bo's staff is a mix of guys who take recruiting very seriously and guys who slack off in that regard.

i'm not aware of anyone that doesn't think recruiting is important. there is certainly a valid argument to be had for which is MORE important, coaching or recruiting, and it's also open for debate how well the recruiting agencies do at determining which kids can help you win games; but anyone that doesn't think we need to recruit talented kids to win games isn't playing with a full deck of cards.

i don't blame bo for not liking recruiting, but i think it's clear that he and his staff treat it as an important part of their jobs. whether or not there's been problems along the way(or perhaps just message board panics), and whether or not there are some coaches that work harder at it than others (which is no doubt the case on all staffs), we are getting positive results in recruiting.

The best story was Pierce saying no on recrutiing Jameel Holloway, who went to Boomer, and Barry Switzer's philosophy with recruiting "outlaws". Read the story if you haven't. It gets the dancing banana/corncob :corndance cause it is that good.

My fave part too! We shall dance together. No homo tho. :corndance:corndance

  11. Announcing at 9:30am (CST) on NSD.

Well I'll be here awaiting your decision Mr. Peat. I kind of like that he's doing it at his elementary school. The kiddos are going to think it's so cool no matter what he chooses. He's pry the coolest dude in town. Who knows, we might get more future superstars in fifteen years if he chooses us.

  12. I dont think anyone is saying the sky is falling, we are voicing our concerns. If you cant see whats going on with recruiting lately, you havent been paying attention.

There are legitimate concerns especially if we lose CJ and AA, Bubba probably wont make it and you almost always get atleast one non qualifier... that puts us pretty low as zoogies said. If we lose those 2 and pick up a few more last second projects, we will be lucky to hit 15.

Im sure we will pull out a few more, im confident we could close out by keeping our class in tact and hopefully pull Peat in, in a last minute shocker. And from the sounds of it were sitting pretty good with the kicker from florida. Even so we are going to have to press hard next year for LB TE and WR.

i think we limited our offers this year and focused on some bigger talent, we got good talent early and coasted on the last 5-6 guys we really wanted for this class, and when the season fell apart at the end so did recruiting.

Oh I know the concerns. But why do we need multiple threads saying the same exact things? I mean Crewe posted the same exact long post in two of them. Necessary? I don't think so. We got it the first time.
