  1. I would hope that we are still going after this guy extremely hard, considering how small this class is getting and even the potential of losing our other prize CB recruit, which would be a disaster. We need a guy like Frankie regardless. Who cares if he's committed. He's not signed yet.

Are we going to participate in the whole don't go after other committed big ten players unwritten rule? The Big Ten schools all seem to follow by that and it really causes an uproar when one of the member schools break it. A few years ago Eric Gordon committed to Bruce Weber and the Fighting Illini and then Sampson got in there and did some dirty recruiting and got him to Indiana. He not only felt the wrath of Illi but the other member schools were very peeved at Indy's recruiting tactics too. It seems like we would want to start our Big Ten tenure on a positive note, and I suspect we won't try to poach from other member schools unless the kid calls us first.

  2. Do we know what the rivals teaser says yet? All I've heard on this thread was that girlknowsfootball thought it wasn't looking good from the one sentence teaser we get that says Braylon got his scores and has a plan. Any more entail from insiders?

  3. Well here's the deal. It's obviously looking good because Braylon got an 18, BUT... he needs a 71 cumulative. If you take 71 divided by 4 (the number of sections on the ACT), that is equal to 17.75, which is rounded up to 18. The problem is, a 17.5 is also rounded up to an 18, and a 17.5 is only a cumulative score of 70, leaving him one point short.

Basically, Braylon may have gotten a 70, 71, 72, or 73 cumulative score based on him telling us that he scored an 18. As long as he didn't get a 70, he will make it in. So basically think of it as a 75% chance that Braylon is N!

Well I am just going to hope that the reporters and Heard himself did their homework on this and he will be qualified. Thanks for breaking it down and being a voice of reason but this is celebration time! :woo

  4. Man, I just can't stand it when these kids do this stuff. Who is there in this kid's ear trying to make sure stuff like this doesn't happen. I realize I have no clue about this kid's character but am I wrong for thinking this kind of stuff is a red flag? Am I wrong for thinking that it might almost be best just to pull an offer when stuff like this happens.

I don't think you're wrong in thinking that way, but put yourself in the kids shoes and I think it at least is tolerable when considering Bryants actions. This decision is probably the biggest decision of his life so far. He makes a call and then is sitting around and starts second guessing himself. I feel like this sort of thing happens to all of us, well me at least... I personally don't have any ill will towards him no matter what he does. I would say I am actually happy he decided to second guess himself within 24 hrs instead of waiting a few weeks to look around.

  5. My initial post discussed LB Ryan Shazier. Ohio State has plucked him away from Florida. I would have liked to have seen us go after this kid stronger and now we will be playing against him in the Big 10.

Seriously chamrock? How long have u ben off the board? And we're sposed to believe u? F' off!!!! JMHO.

Wow, someone's off their meds, aren't we?! Just saying this was a kid who had an NU offer and Ohio State swooped in on him and I would have liked to have seen us go after him as obviously he was looking since the change at Florida. This kid and Santos would have made 2 great LB's for our class.

As for being off the board, what board you been on? I have have always been here.

Lets just chalk that up to C N RED was posting at 2:30 in the morning on a Friday night and probably should have stayed off the board while he was playing Edward Forty Hands. I don't even know how he typed with his hands taped. Nice posts Cham, don't fret.

  6. Woah! This is awesome, but it's totally unexpected and out of the blue! He was just saying yesterday that he was reevaluating everything and that it was so confusing in who to pick... makes me wonder if his commitment is going to stay solid.

    Wow, you called it.

  7. Nebraska visit still ranks as the best.. said he was concerned about the Pirman commit, but was reassured he would still have a spot.. JP will be in home soon, and he plans to give Colorado a visit next month.

made it sound positive for us, but I still wouldn't get my hopes up, based on what's been stated previously.

Why would he be worried bout Pirman? He's comin as a TE and as far as I can tell we want Lake as a DE. But I really don't see Lake as a primary DE. We r on better DEs than Lake and I expect to get a couple of them in. Sorry Lake but u should have committed early cuz we have moved beyond him now. We would take him as a greyshirt but that's it unless we don't fill on DE.

What DE's do you expect us to have N that you think it would be a smart idea to not take Lake? And I disagree, Lake is not a greyshirt possibility. Not only do I think he would never do that, but he is a bigger priority for the staff than that as well.

  8. Just watched his highlights again and I think he has more top end, straight line speed than anyone on the team or coming in for this class. Would be a HUGE addition. I'm just wondering if he's kept that speed after being out of football for over a year.

He said he has been working out with a trainer so hopefully he won't be that far behind.

  9. My initial post discussed LB Ryan Shazier. Ohio State has plucked him away from Florida. I would have liked to have seen us go after this kid stronger and now we will be playing against him in the Big 10.

    Did I miss something? :dunno

    Or was this a joke?

With Muschamp I can't imagine us being able to nab any guys. I'm sure Gatorland is pretty hoppin with their hire.

  10. These guys are the backbone of our team. The more corn fed Nebraska boys we get in the program the more competitive practices become. Love to see a walk on find playing time ie... Alex Henry!!! The most accurate kicker in FBS history. Kudos to Alex for AP ALL AMERICAN. Was't there like 5 former walk ons that started the 95 Fiesta Bowl?

Alex Henery, spell the man's name correctly.

And while Alex will technically be the most accurate, it will likely only be for one year. Grant Ressel is sitting at 93.3% for his career compared to Alex's 89.5%.

Negative vibes coming from that post. Alex is the king of scrawny white kids everywhere. I'd watch that vibage. :thumbs

I haven't heard anything about walk on's yet. Rivals usually does a story on some possibilities, but I haven't seen one pop up that our insiders can give us the low down on yet.

  11.

    CC bashed Nebraska on myspace?

It was while he was on his OV to Mizzou. He got on Danario's (?) Ustream account and bashed Nebraska.

What is funny is that he realized the Gabbert's screwed with him, pretty much just to make him not go to Nebraska. Whether he went to Mizzou or not was irregardless. Later, he tried calling Bo and company back to see if we were still interested.

Yeah CC was played hardcore last year. He had too many tigers chirping in his ear and made a big mistake. I'm happy with Enunwa and Bell.

This whole Tevin business doesn't sound too hot, but I think it is helping the situation that he is going to have an in-home with Bo still. That would be a very interesting conversation, and I think it's cool that he's man'ing up and having it.

  12. Per Rivals, cut his list to:

    Alabama

    Arkansas (visiting 1/14/2011)

    Auburn

    Florida State

    LSU

    Ole Miss

    Tennessee (visiting 1/21/2011)

    UCLA

I remember when Neb was believed to be his fave with like one other school. What happened to that?

  13. Brandon Wegher

Never mind. He can not transfer to another Big10 school, which includes NU.

I live around and know the Weghers (actually he's a cousin through marriage, I've never talked to him though) and I don't know if we even want him. Be happy with Burkhead. Waaay less character issues. I don't think Wegher's head is on football anymore. A lot of people still think he might go to the University of South Dakota. Even more think that he doesn't even like playing football but is pressured into doing it by his parents who are big wigs in town. I just can't imagine him being a positive influence on any football team he goes to now.

  14. We have a good shot from the scout article that's up. had a lot to say about us and said what we'd be getting in a him as a player.

Here's my question. Things look good with this dude, PO, and Bryant. Who do we take and who do we not? All are high on us. Interesting!

  15. Good post Willy. Basically if you want to go to an offensive school that throws out a sorry attempt at a defense go to Arkansas Tevin.

A fired up EZ-E! I like it! Tevin does sound like he already made up his mind in that article. I will not rain pessimism down on the masses though. We will retain him because of one word. Prince...

  16. There is no way Martinez will ever be a running back with his fumble problems. Period. End of Story. WR or DB maybe, but not a RB.

I don't remember Martinez fumbling very much running the ball. His fumbles come when the pocket collapses and he has to be decisive...which he isn't. We've seen it when he's scambling and makes one of those rediculous underhanded throws. How many times did you see him throw a ball away this year? 0? 1? That's almost ENTIRELY on the QB coach. To see it in his first few starts is one thing, but the 10th? Not acceptable. But I personally wouldn't label him a fumbler when he's rushing the ball. No more so than I'd call Rex or Roy fumblers.

I'd call Roy a fumbler. He's fumbled at some ridiculous times this season. Rex, no way. Dude's a stud and that last game is on Caputo in the wildcat. Have we heard reports that Carnes is Turner, Starling, and Taylor fast? If so, I didn't know that, but that's exciting!
