  1. Alright one of the Craigslist people that I thought had lost interest in the fish just randomly showed up at my apartment and took most of the fish. So sorry, no more fish available.

But anyways, maybe we can switch up this topic a little. Is there anyone on HB that is into aquariums? What kind of setup do you have?

  2. I breed Tuxedo Platys and I've got way too many right now, so I'm giving some away for free if anyone needs some more fish for their aquarium. They are all tiny babies, and would make a great community fish for your aquarium, or you can use them as live food for your other fish. I'm located in west Omaha if anyone is interested. I'm not having great luck on Craigslist, so I thought I'd try here.

Here's a pic and a link for some info about them:

  3. I'm a HUGE Bruce Lee fan, and he's one of the favorite figures of the 20th century. I recommend people read up on him, because he is a fascinating individual. He was revolutionary in many fields, including martial arts, fitness/nutrition, philosophy, the martial arts genre of movies (especially as a fight scene choreographer), and a breakthrough actor who shattered many stereotypes about Asians prevalent at the time.

The guy was an incredible athlete (he drank self-made protein drinks before anyone knew what they were.) Here is a list of some of his physical abilities per wiki:

    Physical feats

Lee's phenomenal fitness meant he was capable of performing many exceptional physical feats.[86][87][88][89] "A man able to perform super human feats that have yet to be equaled."[90] The following list includes some of the physical feats that are attributed to Bruce Lee.

    • Lee's striking speed from three feet with his hands down by his side reached five hundredths of a second.[91]
    • Lee could take in one arm a 75 lb barbell from a standing position with the barbell held flush against his chest and slowly stick his arms out locking them, holding the barbell there for 20 seconds.[92]
    • Lee's combat movements were at times too fast to be captured on film for clear slow motion replay using the traditional 24 frames per second of that era, so many scenes were shot in 32 frames per second for better clarity.[93][94][95]
    • In a speed demonstration, Lee could snatch a dime off a person's open palm before they could close it, and leave a penny behind.[96]
    • Lee would hold an elevated v-sit position for 30 minutes or longer.[88]
    • Lee could throw grains of rice up into the air and then catch them in mid-flight using chopsticks.[97]
    • Lee could thrust his fingers through unopened cans of Coca-Cola. (This was when soft drinks cans were made of steel much thicker than today's aluminum cans).[95]
    • Lee performed one-hand push-ups using only the thumb and index finger.[89][97][98]
    • Lee performed 50 reps of one-arm chin-ups.[99]
    • Lee could break wooden boards 6 inches (15 cm) thick.[100]
    • Lee could cause a 200-lb (90.72 kg) bag to fly towards and thump the ceiling with a sidekick.[89]
    • Lee performed a sidekick while training with James Coburn and broke a 150 lb (68 kg) punching bag.[88][101]
    • In a move that has been dubbed "Dragon Flag", Lee could perform leg lifts with only his shoulder blades resting on the edge of a bench and suspend his legs and torso horizontal midair.[102]

And here is a video of his famous one-handed, two finger push-ups:

  4. Michelle Beadle

I love me some Michelle Beadle. Besides her physical attributes, she seems pretty sports smart too.

Hell yeah. Except for the fact she's a Longwhorn fan.

    That is one lucky hotdog.

Are we implying that we want our penises to be biten off?

So that's what the kids are doing nowadays... I'll have to try it

  5. I wasn't aware of the exact numbers that you have posted, but it's been pretty clear to me that the religious/non-religious landscape is changing fast. Most of my friends are either very loosely affiliated with a religion, or they are full-blown atheists.I just wish fundamentalist people of (insert religion) would just go away, they do nothing but make society even more stupid than it already is.

  6. I especially don't see OU fitting into the Pac-10. Sooner fans are going to turn sour towards Pac-10 culture pretty fast.

    +1

I don't see how Oklahoma culture is going to fit in the the LA attitude

  7. I played soccer for ten years, and I understand the strategy of it. I have also watched some of the big teams play, such as Brazil and Spain, but I still find it the least desirable sport to watch. I respect the fact that a lot of people enjoy it, but it just doesn't seem like it's for me. The fact that it's an acting game of flops really bothers me also.

  8. I've been trying to watch this World Cup and even with the US in the match I must admit its been hard. The cnstant drone of the noise makers in the background has only added to the irratation. I therefore decided to perform a scientific test. I hooked up my heart monitor and monitored it for a half hour while watching the futbol. I then went into the garage and painted a piece of plywood. I then again monitored my heart for a half hour. Results ----- there were several spikes while watching the paint dry and only one minor spike when the Limey goalie fumbled the ball in for a US goal. I could only imagine soccer without the US being good for one thing ----- a cure for insomnia.

This may be the answer to my prayers. +1 :rollin

This is exactly how I feel about it as well. I've tried watching, but it has got to be one of the most boring sports, hands down. The background noise is terrible, and I just don't think it's exciting. I even find golf much more appealing to watch. I almost feel bad about it, because I really do want to like it, but I just can't. I can usually watch any sport and enjoy it, and even curling during the Winter Olympics mildly entertaining. Maybe it's an interest you're born with? :dunno

  9. We'll show them who has the better nearly-identical jerseys!

Yeah seriously. They are remarkably similar to ours. We also have to deal with Northwestern, who has N's on the sides of their helmets and who also thinks they are NU.

    We'll show 'em. ;)

  10. i'd like too see the championship site bounce around a little bit. Indianapolis for two years then ford field then Minnesota then steelers stadium .

Just so that as many different venues and cities get as much of the pie as possible. Its a great way too better conference relations with a cities and leave any of them feeling short changed or left out.

Yeah I think we've been done that road before... <_<

  11. Read on ESPN ticker, that the MWC has talked to Baylor about joining the conference and is inquiring about KU,Kstate, and Mizzou.

The domino's are really starting to fall fast.

No kidding. It will be really interesting to see how the MWC ends up. It could be way stronger than most people think.

  12. Oh yea....I will just miss the hell out of that stupid Boomer Sooner fight song playing after every five yard gain or after every defensive stop or after every first down or after every turnover or after every hot dog purchase or bathroom break or TV timeout, or...well I think you can see a pattern. And, don't forget the Sooner fight song sounds like they are saying....na-na-na-na, na-na-na. The only thing that would be missing is all the fans putting their thumbs to their ears and bobbing their heads back and forth.....gooooooood bye Barry and CO.

You know, I do respect the history of the rivalry...but he has one hell of a point on the fight song.

Why is it necessary to play that damn thing so much, I mean really?? Really?? You're going to play it again??

No kidding. I remember they played it non-stop when they whooped us down in their house a few years ago. I swear they would play it after every play that wasn't for negative yards. <_<

  13. Thanks Hexydes.

    Welcome to HuskerBoard! :thumbs

    Thanks!

For what it's worth, we held a poll on our end of things recently, on peoples' feelings about Nebraska joining the conference. The results were OVERWHELMINGLY positive! I say that, just because I've been reading other B12 boards, and they've been saying some pretty negative things about you guys.

But to hell with them, you're in the Big Ten now! And again, welcome!

they've always hated us because we were successful, it will be nice to be in a conference were excellence is respected, rather than resented, and full of other excellent, tradition-rich programs.

    :yeah

It seems like you guys are much classier fans overall in the Big 10 than some of the fans we had to deal with in the Big 12. :thumbs
