Wow this escalated quickly...does anyone know for sure that weed is the reason he got booted? Or is that just speculation?

I don't know if I'd call the offense "anemic" Especially considering Helu went for 1100+ yard with a nagging injury, and our second string missed half the season with a broken foot...

Don't be pissed. Someone can dredge up one of the threads that discussed his situation, but near as I can remember, they said he simply didn't want to put in the work necessary to excel.

 

I don't care if you're a ten star can't-possibly-miss Ndamukong Suh/Tommie Frazier/Mike Rozier all wrapped up into one prospect - if you're not here to work, you're not going to play football here. Bottom line, end of story.

I know Chris Williams is no longer with the program, but the staff was EXTREMELY vague as usual when talking about why...does anyone have any idea why he isn't a Husker anymore? I mean, I saw him at some parties, but I don't know if if that kind of thing got him kicked off or what. But anyway, I'm pissed that he's gone. He was like one of the biggest recruits in the past 3 years. What happened?

I'd love to see go #1 for the pub, but I'd rather see him succeed on a good team. Sounds like Bradford is going 1, so in all likelihood Suh goes to Detroit. Which (I can't believe I'm saying this, but) doesn't sound all that bad. They just got Vanden Bosch, and they also picked up that DT from the Browns. He could be part of a pretty good D-line again in the pros. If they take Suh 2nd, and maybe a RB early in the second round, maybe they can get something going next season. maybe.

Cody Green needs a chance to be Cody Green. Relatively speaking, I think he is the most talented QB on the roster. He did fine against Baylor in the first half, but then the coaches clammed up with the play calling in the second half and he didn't have much of a shot to show us anything. And against OU...come on, it was OU. One of the best defenses in the country..in his second start as a true freshman. You can't knock him for that. And it's not like Zac came in and saveds the day against OU. The Holiday Bowl argument for Zac Lee is completely invalid to me, Zac went 13/23 (less than 60%) for 173 yards, 74 of which were on one play where the corner covering Niles bit hard on the playfake. And two of Zac's passes in that game were easy picks that Zona DBs simply dropped. Of course Zac deserves a big break due to the torn flexor tendon, but how many players have we seen fall off after injuries.

 

As for Martinez...his arm is still suspect. If he had a decent arm he would have been recruited as a QB, not a safety. And eventually the coaches will realize we need a good passer who can run second, rather than a run first guy. Maybe that's Spano..but you have to present the surgery argument for him too. We have 2 very good receivers in Paul and Kinnie, we need someone who can get them the ball, not a guy for them to block for.

 

We won a LOT of games with run 1st qbs Frost, Frazier, Crouch, Lord, etc. I also don't ever remember our run 1st offense looking anything as dismal as our "multiple" 09 offense. Do you?

We do not run the Crouch, Frazier, Lord, option offense anymore. And will not be any time soon. Shawn Watson is going to run his offense, no matter what. The 2008 offense was awesome, with Ganz (A great passer who could get outside the pocket)

Don't worry, so long as Mizzery wins 6 games they'll get this garbage bowl slot. They can't get fans to bowl games, so they'll be a shoe-in for this excuse of a bowl game. Let the Missouri-Rutgers rivalry begin!

This is a very entertaining parallel to look at. We've got some player ready to go off. (Rex, Ankrah, Meredith, BK, and Niles) It'll be interesting to see if the offense can make as big of a jump next year as the defense did this year. I'm and ESPN insider. All it says is that Zac Lee is missing spring ball because of the elbow, so CG has a chance to take the starting job. Big shocker

Still wish he would have been the quarterback over Keller in 2007. I think the season could have been a tad bit different.

That's very true. It would be nice to see another Husker with the #1 overall pick, I think Irving Fryar was the last in '84. But most of all I'd like to see go to a team with some sort of upside. It would be a shame for him to have a 9-12 year career without any team success.

If the Rams pass on Suh (which is beginning to look more and more like a possibility) for Bradford, what happens to Suh? In all likelyhood, the Lions take him at #2. But I've also heard rumors that the Eagle are interested in some sort of involving Donovan McNabb for the first pick. I've also heard that the Tampa Bay may be interested in trading up for the top pick, but who from the Bucs would be worth a #1 pick? Either way, here's what I'd like to see, in order:

Eagles trade up and get Suh, or

Suh goes #1 overall to St. Louis, or

Either the Bucs trade up or Suh falls to #3 overall and joins Barrett Ruud in Tampa.
