  1. Herman seems to be a good coach, but no one knows how successful he would be at a bigger school where the pressure is ramped up exponentially.

Yeah, because there was no pressure working for Urban Meyer as OC/QB coach at OSU...

The frickin Equipment manager at OSU probably sees more pressure on a daily basis than Bruce Read ever knew existed.

  2. Soo.. MR, who ignored TO's advice about running the ball and Midwest weather, is going to scrap his "formula for success" to take advice from an abysmal local HS coach/radio troll? :laughpound

Extra practices will yield dividends in the future...umm, about how many practices do you think they got between the Rutgers game and the Iowa game? Seemed effective to me. :waste

How significant would potentially going 5-8 be? Well, in this day and age not many teams get 13 chances to thrash about on national television in a puddle of their own misery. But hey, at the end of the game we get another "Riley Post-game Presser". Maybe we can get James Taylor to do a duet with MR and salve the wounded soul of HuskerNation? :thumbs

  3. Mark Richt will not be taking any position within the University of Nebraska in light of a possible NCAA ban on activities due to the blatantly racist nature of the institution as alleged by the BLM movement and confirmed by Chancellor Harvey Perlman. If these actions and outrageous buy-outs are not enough to discourage further questioning of the administration's hiring wisdom, other measures will be taken to ensure that a toxic atmosphere is created including implementation of Sharia Law and "Pedophilia Thursdays".

After all, what coach would possibly want to takeover after the first year firing of a coach who turned a 9 win program into a 5 win program, AND is bankrupt, AND is stuck in the 1860's, AND overrun with potential extremists, AND regularly promotes the violation of children? ...Wait, does Farakhan run a pro-style or spread system? damn..

  4.

I didn't say I thought it was true.

I asked if it crossed your mind.

    Language is important kids.

It did cross my mind then I remembered if TA actually WANTED to throw it to an Iowa player, he would have, instead, unintentionally thrown it to a Huskers player.

    :yeah

  5. I hate this staff. Everytime I see MR get up after these losses and chuckle over all the f*@k-ups , bad play calls, and mismanagement of the game I want to slap the crap out his wrinkly, old ass. He danced around and shuffled his papers tonight at the podium like he was doing the "gotta potty" dance. So sick of seeing him wandering up and down the sideline like a dementia patient, did he need the notes for the press conference because he doesn't pay attention to the damn game? I know people didn't want the "raving lunatic" coach but di we have to go full blown pu$$y? Did we...really?

Langsderp... 4th &1 fade pass?...Why is he even on the sideline? Is he holding TA's coat? I never see him "coaching 'em up" after all the colossal brain farts. If he had no intention to work on TA then act like you got a pair and BENCH HIM. On the other hand, the QB guru still can't teach him not to throw from a pigeon toed stance after a year of practices so what does that say for his "coaching abilities. I hope the lawn service guy is banging his wife.

Read?... pretty evident he's conned Riley into believing he's really a coach.

Banker's defense is awesome...at least when he's facing OC's dumb enough to bang their head against his obvious schemes. Thank you sweet baby Jesus for not making us have to play OSU, Michigan, or any Big 12 team.

I don't know where folks are seeing "improvement". Record? Penalties? Turnovers? No, no, no. The patient is brain-dead, time to start farming out the organs. Bowl game?!?!? Can you really think of a team out there you'd feel good about playing? No thanks, I've had my fill for a year.

  6. It was the call I thought they got right. Yes, DB's will try to ride a receiver out of bounds, usually they don't get the time to re-establish themselves on the field before the ball gets there. Reilly did.

Two calls bothered me more, one was the no call on A.Moore. Official was looking right at the MSU DB trapping Moore's arm in the crook of his elbow. Worse, I really thought there was cause for a targeting call on the last hit Westy took. Helmet to helmet with the DB using the crown.

Par for the course from B1G officials I guess. :dunno

  7. Gates was back at tackle and Sterup moved to guard. Sterup was blowing Mich St. off the line. Great move, wish he had another year.

Noticed he looked better at the position than Kondolo. Utter still getting blown up though. Really would like to know what goes into Cavanaugh's decision process or if there is one.

  8. I'm not ready to hoist a cup of cheer for Eichorst just yet. When dealing with a lawyer and PR man you need to parse out the exact quote. Asking Perlman to stop discussions of a contract discussion can mean more than one thing. It can simply mean stop publicly discussing the contract extension, not cancelling it. If Perlman decides to lay it on him anyway, he still gets the "humble servant" applause from fanbase, while also reaping the benefits for not questioning the decisions of his superior.

Maybe I'm being too skeptical but he's got a history of making statements that are "fuzzy around the edges". Once bitten, twice shy. :dunno

Well, I still think he's a nice guy. He's not screwing us with his buddies on purpose or maliciously. He probably thinks they're good at what they do. He would just be wrong and that makes him inept not the a-hole you portray him as. Might be a case of some misdirected anger. Might be time to relax a bit.

Explain the lies. He said he wasn't going to force his system on these players. So explain the 50+ passes a game. He's an A-hole. He doesn't care what anyone thinks or says, he's like every coach that ever coached, he has an agenda and he's going to push that agenda come hell or high water and he will NEVER admit he's wrong. There is no misdirected anger. I'm not angry at him. I'm just tired of being told something that's not true. I bought all the nice guy crap at first, I wanted to believe it, but he's not a nice guy, he just plays one on TV.

Easy. Those aren't lies, he just doesn't know how to do the job better. They think they can't run the ball so they throw it 50 times. They legitimately think they are doing the right things. Not lies. Not malicious. Not an ahole. Just extremely over matched for the job at hand. Might seem passable in a place like Corvalis with a lot lower expectations but not here. I like the guy, I really do and hope he can get it turned around. But my brain tells me that just ain't gonna happen. His loyalty to Banker and Langsdorf will be his undoing. No need to demonize the guy or start a hate fest. He is just out if his league. And I hope he proves me wrong about that.

I want Nebraska to win. I agree with that. If he goes 12-0 next year I will sing his praises. But, I will still have my opinion that the whole "nice guy" persona is just an image for the cameras. I agree that what he does isn't to screw Nebraska fans, but he has no loyalty to Nebraska fans and no real concern for us either. And since he's wasting a tremendous amount of our money on these incompetent coaches (and he would have to be mentally retarded not to know they are incompetent), it shows that he is more concerned with his buddies' well being than the fans who are paying his salary. I think that makes him an A-hole. He knew Banker was bad at OSU and he could have hired any number of good D-coordinators, hell Ed Orgeron was practically begging to come to Nebraska, but Noooooo, he went with his buddy Banker, to the detriment of Nebraska fans everywhere. Not a good guy.

Nor should he. There shouldn't be single Power 5 head football coach on the planet that gives two f%&k** what the fans think. They have too much stuff on their plate as is. Also, you aren't paying the coaches' salaries, the university is. Quit sounding like a delusional mouth-breeder.

Yeah! When it comes down to it, it's just the coach and the players who need to pull together against the whole....wait...awww sh#t. :bat

  10. "Allegedly" ...hell of a word there. I know people are all lining up to see and pull what they want from the statement but I lit upon this word.

"Allegedly" comes along when you make an accusation you have no proof of or you do not intend to offer, or both. It's the word you hide behind just in case what you've been told comes from a tainted source or you fear the consequences of voicing your own thoughts.

"Allegedly" says what Pettit writes holds as much water as anything you'll find in Rumorville.

p.s. Interesting use of the Volkswagon brand, the preferred vehicle of fascists worldwide since the 1930's... allegedly. :clap

  11. This is your reason to drop the axe before it happens.

Picture MR taking the field on 1st &10 at the 50, 50yds to go. He runs a play for 10yds, then after the play spikes the ball for a 15yd penalty. It's still 1st &10 but now we're at the 45, 55 yds to go. Then he does it again. We're 60 yds out. Then again... now we're 65 yds away. He chuckles and says "Well it's still 1st down, we've converted 3 first downs and we've got 30yds of offense.", and Eichorst steps up and yells "All Aboard the Energy Bus!"

If we allow these to go thru we move the goal post back with every raise and extension. If you trip and fall in the mud you may be embarrassed. The idea that if you immediately stand up everyone will know you tripped will embarrass you further so it's best to just sit there till the mud dries up, baffles me.

  12. He claims he sees a bright future in the players eyes. The players claim they have never laid eyes on Eichorst. What gives?

    Dude's on lithium..

If he's seeing anything in the player's eyes it's probably :

    "Who the f* is that?..."

"How the f* did he get in here?.."

    "Is that Jim Rose?..."

"Why you eyeballin' me you ginger punk?.."

"If that a-hole slaps me on the butt I'm gonna lose my cleat in his clenched up a$$..."

As poor a fit as I think he is as the HC, and that putting off replacing him is just putting off the inevitable, I think he's a great person. I think his priorities are exactly right. Maybe we should consider him as the AD? I'm sort of serious. He knows coaching and he's even keel and he has the right mindset. then again, I don't know if I'd trust him to fire the right head coach.

Basically, I think you give him the normal timeframe to show something befitting Nebraska standards (including on-field results). If he fails at this, you move on -- and I would expect such a split to be as classy as Muschamp's exit at Florida or Hoke's at Michigan. You hope to find someone with the same priorities and class, and hope for that person to be able to get the on field results, too. Repeat until you find a guy, and keep him as long as you can.

The "normal timeframe" CANNOT involve taking a 9-10 win program and losing 8-9. (Yes, I know it is "only" 6 right now, but get real...) These are decidedly "abnormal" circumstances. This is Ellis Johnson-type incompetence. Historical ineptitude at a level we have not glimpsed since 2004-2007 or the 40's and 50's at Nebraska, while in fact we are approaching one of the absolute lows in the 120+ year history of this program. He has already showed he is incapable of meeting even the most basic of "Nebraska standards."

I was willing to give Riley an 8-5 transition season. I think even the most pessimistic about his history and his 'ability' and I will definitely include myself in that group, were willing to give him a reasonable chance if he didn't back-slide..but you simply cannot lose multiple games against demonstrably and unequivocally over-matched opponents (while displaying head-shaking incompetence in fundamental coaching areas like clock management and game planning) because you are too arrogant, stupid, weak, old, disengaged, hired three incompetent coordinators, or whatever to just go out, run the ball more than you throw it, and win games ugly no matter what, because that's what HAD to be done. For all of Callahan's hubris, at least he admitted it up front...he was going to sacrifice an entire season or more to implement his rotten, poorly-conceived system. Riley spent 10 months lying to everyone, just to tell them what they wanted to hear. He'd have been better off saying that he was going to run a weak, pass-first offense from day 1 regardless of the skill sets of the players in the program or the outcome. It wouldn't have played well, but it's better than being purposely untruthful.

There is no urgency and no recognition of the magnitude of the failure coming from anyone within the program, and clearly Eichorst is beyond tone-deaf. It is a ship that has already hit the rocks and the captain and crew are more worried about trying to preserve the paint job they did on the cabin in the off-season than the fact that the entire ship has already capsized beneath them.

There is a time to be patient and "wait and see", and a time to take decisive, program-saving action. We are now, unfortunately, in the latter category...already...in year ONE.

Well put. +1 .... I'll never understand MR's unshakeable faith in his "system" and coodinators which have never rewarded him with anything other than to say "We didn't completely suck this year!" every 5 years or so. :wtf

Sir I appreciate your response to my concerns. As an alum it means a great deal to me. Please take note of other fans. The environment is turning toxic around the program I love.
Scott Frost is the guy to heal the wounds. This is all the input I have on the matter as I respectfully acknowledge you are a busy man.

I understand. You wouldn’t write unless you cared. But hope you will consider this:
You don’t want to give Riley a few years to recruit? Well, consider how this will look when we recruit a replacement. Anyone want to be football coach where you will have half a season to prove yourself and you will have to play with the players the former coaches left. And, oh by the way, it might be hard to recruit any new players because Nebraska doesn’t give you a chance if you are not immediately successful so players can’t count on you being around if they come here. And don’t try to use excuse of injuries to your top players or that the former coaches didn’t recruit very well. Won’t work. Can’t wait to see who we would hire under those circumstances. In such circumstances I hope we would get lucky but I’m skeptical.

Greetings. My wife and I are proud alumni. My entire family pride themselves with lifetime support and association with Nebraska, specifically football.
This team has always represented the state and fans on a level that is unprecedented in sports. I am more than concerned presently at the coaching staff that has been selected to lead our student athletes. They do not, and honestly will not meet the expectations of Nebraska.
I have a fairly engaged pulse with the heartbeat of the fan base. They are becoming apathetic. Many are vowing to not renew their tickets, provide donations, buy gear, or watch the games unless a change is made. This is troubling and can not be allowed to continue.
A mistake was made in this hire. The principals of sunk cost apply. Regardless of what money has been committed retaining this staff will result in revenue loss well beyond that expense if the fans lose support.
I am more than sure if it is purely a revenue concern the fans and alumni will collectively support a new coaching staff fundraiser to meet the needs.
Making a bad hire is a mistake any school can make. Nebraska football may never recover if immediate steps are not taken to rectify this error.
    Thank you for your time.
    Go Big Red
(Read from the bottom. I will try this way since there seems to be doubts it actually came from Harvey.)

Did you forward Harvey's response back to the Board members? There have been issues between them and HP over his withholding of information before...
