  1.

I will never stop supporting the Huskers, will love them til the die I die, but the reality is we are an average program and after 15 years of this it's hard to think differently. i just don't see us returning to the elite level. Makes me very sad.

  2. I like the fact we have wi-fi in the stadium. If something happens during the game (ex. an injury) I can check twitter and stuff to see what happened. I also love to see what the scores are around the nation.

I totally agree. I have been at games many times where there is an injury or a call that I am not aware of until I get home. It's great to check my phone and know what happened right away.

  3. Even with the frustraton of this season we fans continued to fill the seats. The sellout streak is amazing and I hope it never ends.

    From the Forde Yard Dash:

Empty seats are a modern college football reality, as teams compete with the enhanced home-viewing experience to keep fans coming to games.

  4. From Lee Barfknecht's column today (11/9):

Then we learned Eichorst already had been granted one-year extensions each of the past two summers. Funny thing is no documentation of those extensions was included in the contract The World-Herald requested last week under the state’s open records laws.

According to that contract, Eichorst’s salary and fringe benefits can change without written modification. But note this wording: “This Contract may be amended at any time by a written instrument duly approved by the University and accepted by Mr. Eichorst.” So where is the “written instrument” of Eichorst’s two one-year contract extensions?

  5. AD's coming out to show their coaches support mid-season is known as the "kiss of death" does it have the same meaning for AD's bosses who come out mid season to support them?

I sure hope you're right, but I have a very bad feeling about the future of NU football.

  6.

So, this guy is basically saying that Eichorst needs to come out from under his rock?...

...from who have we heard that before? :devil

Can we all just agree that we aren't going to do this anymore? Canning Pelini, justly, and hiring Riley are two different things. One was a correct decision, and the other was not.

I completely agree with you on the canning Pelini / hiring Riley thought. It drives me crazy when people act like we had to fire Pelini or hire Riley. We had lots of options as far as who we hired, but apparently didn't look at any of them.

  7. I need to know, does this make me a bad fan or not a fan at all? All I can do is laugh as I watch this Purdue game. We are literally inventing stupid ways to play the game, it is pathetic. But my reaction to every error is to laugh out loud. Seems like maybe I'm a bad fan?????

If you're a bad fan than I am too.

  8. Every Husker fan who buys tickets, buys the gear, loses sleep over losses, has a right to be unhappy. The administration let us down and our beloved program, and at this point I don't see us being relevant for many years to come.

  9. I agree with you and wish he was at UNL right now. I think having someone with his experience as a Husker and now with his experience as an athletic director he would have us moving in the right direction.

  10. I don't know where to post this, but I read this tweet from Joel Klatt just after the latest college football coach was fired and I thought it was interesting...

@joelklatt: With all of the vacant coaching positions in CFB I am sure that Scott Frost will start getting some run...He is a great young coach.

  11. The fans are supposed to be happy with a 3-5 football team? The fans are supposed to throw blind support behind a coaching staff just because it's year 1 in the program?

NU fans know good football when they see it, and what we are watching is not good football. I'm not going to argue whether we have watched good football over the past 5-10-15 years, the past doesn't matter. All that matters now is that we have a very poorly coached team. It's led by a head coach who has been nothing but average over his entire coaching tenure, and his band of merry men who he brought over from Corvallis so they could enjoy a few years of nice paychecks before half of them retire and never coach again.

    Well said. I agree 100%.

  12. The Greatest Fans in College Football continue to fill that stadium every single game. We buy the gear, we donate to the program. We have every right to voice our concerns and even bitch when we think the promgram is headed in the wrong direction and not being managed properly by those who are paid big bucks to do so.

we have had 15 years of average football and have been no where near the top of the mountain, yet we continue to fill the stadium, which I think is amazing and speaks to how much this program is loved and cherished. And in my opinion we need an A.D. Who has the passion and a coach who gets it. We need people with Nebraska ties.

  13. The truth is we hired an elderly coach with a losing record, who was more than likely going to be fired from his last job. Our cherished program is circling the drain and no one with the power to fix it cares. I like Riley the man, but not the coach.
