Ladies and gentleman, Matt F'n Slauson

  2. I gave Mo the benefit of the doubt on his first incident, but now...get the guy the hell out of Lincoln and quit blowing our time away. What a shame and disgrace.

    I agree.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Mo. We don't want you...

All of these comments seem eerily familiar.....oh yeah they were all said 5 weeks ago. Let it all work out before we run the guy out of town

  3. Last season I had high hopes for him. The articles that were about him seemed all positive, he seemed like a good character and a great player. We can't presume to know much about his character - everyone makes boneheaded mistakes, and I don't think his incident was going to stop him from drinking - but I will say he's deserved what he got.

Let's not yet jump to berating him or making him a 'bad guy' or anything...it doesn't take a bad guy to get kicked off the team. He definitely should have realized what fine ice he was treading on, though...I think he got off the hook a little with the diversion program, what a waste...

From a pure performance side, it's sad...but someone'll step up.

I think Swift, Nunn, and Peterson are our top guys...from there on it's unproven potential. Am I forgetting anyone?

Hardy? He's a senior and has had his moments. But wow is he inconsistant. After that, yeah the talent is pretty green and raw......

  4. slit his fing throat

I know that this pisses people off, me included but calm down please.

yeah, yeah slit wrists, slit throats who cares? Done.....

back to the issue at hand. I think 6 games minimum but I would be surprised if Purify sticks around to get that suspension.

  5. slit his fing throat

I hope to god your not serious. That's horrible....absoutely f'n horrible. Yeah lets kill the guy because he screwed up. Makes f'n sense loser.....I hope you get banned you piece of sh*t!

F&cking A. Looks like someone shoved their tampoon up too far today. I guess I forgot the :sarcasm

f%&k%ing relax a bit and just reinsert properly.

    Midgets = funny

21 year old being told to slit there throat = not funny

    maybe that's just me....

    Purify cited for DWI

Maurice Purify was cited for DWI after being stopped by the State Patrol at 12:25 a.m. Friday at North First Street and Cornhusker Highway, according to Deb Collins, spokesperson for the State Patrol.

Reached late Friday morning, Purify said he hadn't spoken with Nebraska coach Bill Callahan about his latest arrest. Asked if he expects to remain a member of the team, Purify said, "I hope so." He declined further comment.

Purify was arrested May 5 on suspicion of two counts of assault, trespassing, failure to comply and resisting arrest. The charges stemmed from an alleged altercation at a downtown Lincoln tavern.

Purify's attorney, Jon Braaten of Lincoln, said Purify had been offered pretrial diversion for the May 5 incident and was in the process of deciding whether to sign up. Braaten said he was unsure how Purify's latest arrest might affect matters.

"It'll be something that needs to be put into consideration," Braaten said.

  7. Well this is certainly some of the worst news we could hear at this point. I'll not say that an entire season hinges on Mo's performance––or lack thereof––but logically progressing his career after what we've seen would indicate a monster receiver this coming season, a season where we probably cannot afford to lose anyone of value, particularly a monster receiver.

On the other hand we can try to see the sunshine behind the clouds and rejoice that at least this (alleged) drunken idiot is throwing his life away before fall camp and this coming season. How much more would this sting if it broke the Wednesday before we butt heads with USC?

What baffles me more than anything about Purify and his antics is this: he has the potential to make millions of dollars playing a game that he enjoys and what does he do instead? He gets in barfights and cruises around drunk. Rock bottom is a college education, as they say, and Mo seems to be doing everything within his power to see that any hope he has of a successful future is ruined. At this point I'm almost willing to classify him as nothing but a liability, and earnestly hope he's thrown off the team before he infects anyone else. Nebraska doesn't need to have its rep tarnished for this guy.

And USC must be raized to the ground.

Completely agree. Hell our reputation is still tainted from an incident 12 years ago. Boot him, move on and focus on the development of guys like Henry, Brooks, Holt and Paul

NU Football: Purify cited on suspicion of drunken driving

    WORLD-HERALD BUREAU

LINCOLN - Nebraska receiver Maurice Purify was cited early Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Deb Collins, public information coordinator for the Nebraska State Patrol, said Purify was stopped near North 1st Street and Cornhusker Highway in Lincoln. According to Collins, Purify was pulled over around 12:25 a.m. for speeding and failure to signal a turn.

No blood-alcohol level was released for Purify, 21, from Eureka, Calif.

Purify five weeks ago was involved in an incident at a Lincoln bar that led to charges of assault, failure to comply, resisting arrest and trespassing. Purify was believed to be headed for a pre-trial diversion program for that legal matter, and wasn't required to be in Lancaster County Court on Thursday for his scheduled arraignment.

It is not immediately known if the DUI charge would violate that agreement.

Purify is an All-Big 12 candidate who ranked as the Huskers' second-leading receiver last season, catching 34 passes for 630 yards and seven touchdowns. His last-second 9-yard TD catch on a Zac Taylor pass at Texas A&M gave NU a 28-27 lead.

  9. Well I guess I can answer my own question:

All-AZ pick in classes to qualify at Nebraska

    Richard Obert

    The Arizona Republic

    Jun. 7, 2007 04:01 PM

All-Arizona offensive lineman Jaivorio Burkes recently graduated from Phoenix Moon Valley High, but is taking a summer biology course with hopes of qualifying to play football at Nebraska this season.

Burkes was one of five west Valley players, including Big School Player of the Year Prince Amukamara of Glendale Apollo, who signed last winter with Nebraska.

Burkes, 6-foot-5, 315 pounds, was supposed to be taking summer school at Nebraska starting Monday, but now likely will play in next week's Arizona Coaches Association All-Star football game in Surprise, Rockets coach Roger Britson said.

    Burkes received a four-star rating by Scout.com.

"He graduated with a 2.5 (grade point average) and scored 810 on his SAT," Britson said. "He needed 820 to go with the 2.5. He took the test again last week.

"He'll probably take off (to Nebraska) the first week of July. He'll get into a summer program there."

  10. Can a brotha get a night game?

What in the name of Tim Duncan?!?!?!?Are you serious??? I'd say the very least amount of ROAD night games is a very good thing. The last thing you'd want to do is in your second game of the year, go on the road at night at a place that's not use to big games and will probably be extremely rowdy.....

Good point sir, I didn't think of it that a way. I'm hoping we have over half that stadium filled with Husker fans.

Well there stadium sits 31,500 so yeah I could easily see 10 to 15,000 Husker fans making it Memorial Stadium East...

  11. Can a brotha get a night game?

What in the name of Tim Duncan?!?!?!?Are you serious??? I'd say the very least amount of ROAD night games is a very good thing. The last thing you'd want in your second game of the year is have it at night. Especially at a place that's not use to big games, wants desperatly to be rowdy and is just begging to carry some goal post out of there stadium.......

  12. Just saw Bowman walking around the stadium with no limp, no crutches or any knee brace of any sort. What should we make of this? I know nothing of this injury or the timetable in which one could recover from it. But shouldn’t someone who suffered this injury nearly two months ago have crutches or at least some sort of noticeable limp? Thoughts out there??......
