  1. Welcome to the Board. I see you've met WCHusker, who is pretty cool but doesn't hide his opinions. Like most of us, I guess. Don't be a stranger. Good luck to Michigan this year. Thanks a lot for the welcome. I've been lurking for a little while since you guys joined the B10. It's fun to hear some different viewpoints. In response to the 15% unemployment, well, that's what happens when your economy is so reliant on one industry. The whole state of Michigan pretty much lives and dies by the auto industry. Greed and bad decisions have put a lot of people in a really bad spot. Even if it is the "butthole of the US" I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Plus it makes me sound like a gangster when I say, "I'm from Detroit, bitch". Anyways, I hope Suh can live up to his hype. The B12 championship game made me instantly want him on the Lions. With Suh and Jahvid Best added to the roster, there's more excitement about the Lions around here than there has been in awhile (even though, as crazy as it sounds with the Red Wings, Detroit is a football city). I just heard on the radio today though that his agent said something along the lines of "We're glad it's a 5 year deal so he can get to free agency sooner". Needless to say that rubbed some people the wrong way around here. Kinda sad I'd rather talk about the Lions than UM this pre-season!
  2. Tell us how you really feel. What part don't you agree with? It's the butthole of the US. I guess it depends on your perspective. From my perspective, I could easily say that living in the middle of an endless cornfield is the "butthole of the US." I'm also assuming that since you're so sure of this you have been you Detroit.
  3. Doesn't M*ch*gan have the highest unemployment rate in the United States? Columbus is not a rust belt city; it is very modern, home to many large fashion, communications, and finance companies and has a vibrant cultural scene (especially our German town) and great places to eat. People in Columbus are great. OSU has a reputation for rowdy fans, but obviously, as scUM, you would be on the worst of the receiving end of everything - and I've experienced the same by M*ch*gan fans even as far away in New York. On the whole, OSU fans are very involved with their teams compared with other schools and very passionate about the sport. It is a religion in central Ohio for many people. The thing that irks me about so many M*ch*gan fans is that most never attended UM, but unlike fans in Ohio, are incredibly arrogant about being more intelligent or more academically inclined because they're UM. It's one of the snobbiest trends in sports. People live vicariously through UM even if they never went there. If true, this is ridiculous... It happens all the time. Standard response is to just ask them what year they graduated from UM, and watch them flounder looking for a comeback. The worst example was the Mexican guy cleaning the floor in my apartment building. Barely spoke English, but was able to call me a stupid Buckeye, and ask me how I liked working at McDonald's. At Michigan State, such people are known as "Walmart Wolverines." You can't help but laugh about it. Awwwww. I love when the Sparties try and talk trash. Sooooo cute.
