It's hilarious that bribery is needed at one of the "prestigous" football schools.
I think it has a lot to do with the remnants of the Rich Rod years. Now I'm a diehard, so I was at every one of those games at least an hour early, but a lot of people weren't. I think some of that attitude was kind of left over in some of the students here now. A HUGE part of UM's student base is out of state, so many don't grow up watching UM games and dreaming to be there, they have to learn to love the team. If you start off with Rich Rod, it might leave a bitter taste in one's mouth. Hopefully it gets better as UM gets their sh#t back together.
GA will at least reward the kids who want to be there.

I'm glad this happened after I graduated but it's a good thing. Student section was a god damn embarrassment last year.

Good for him. IMO he was better than Robinson and it makes me wonder what your staff was thinking when they sent in that other QB?
Yeah, we all were. Devin had been playing receiver all year and hadn't even been getting snaps at QB several weeks prior to the NU game. Turns out he is actually much better than Bellomy, who would've thought?!
Coaching staff made a big mistake there. I'd rather see Devin improvise the playbook and lose than watch the disaster that Bellomy brought upon us.

Great game guys. Wasn't expecting such a slow, hard-fought game. You guys just need one or two more viable scoring options. I know, easier said than done.
-
If UM shoots like they did in the second half of the Iowa game then UM -22 is easy money.
-
Burke for nothing.. It will be a nice challenge for you guys
Well that doesn't sound like a very good trade...
-
I'll take Warren Buffet. Non-negotiable. Oh and some Fun Dip.
-
I'll trade you for Burke? That should make the game slightly more fair.
What are you offering, sir.
-
This should be fun.

The Clowney hit was huge, I'll give him that, but that doesn't change the fact he was nearly invisible for the most of the game. From what I saw, Michigan and Nebraska moved the ball fairly easily against USC and UGA, just a few breaks didn't fall our way.

I felt that the decision to move to the Big10 was wrong from the beginning. We left all of our tradition behind and went to this overrated conference. NU made a hasty, emotional decision
after an another ill-fated venture to the Big 12 title game. Bo's team was built to stop teams with speed (Mizzou, OU, Ttech, Okie Lite, to name a few). Wisconsin was shoving us around all day
on Saturday. Their offensive linemen dwarfed our front four. Taylor had no protection up front to speak of. His big run was a fluke scramble. Sure it was a good play but cmon man he cant pull that out of his butt more than once a game...
And now look, the big dogs in the Big 12 are shadows of their former selves. Texas is mediocre, OU is much weaker than they used to be. KSU is overrated we would've ended their season before it started.
the rest of the Big 12 is laughable. Give me Kansas or Iowa State before Michigan State and Wisconsin. Sure some will say that those teams have beaten us in the past. But the fact is the bottom feeders in
the Big12 are much more beatable than their counterparts in the Big10. Some say that Texas was too greedy and we had to go. This is true, I hate Texas with a passion, but we still could've negotiated with them if we would've manned up and took care of our business. We could've said give us a Cornhusker network and you can have your Longhorn network. We could've had our own profits and they theirs.
Yes Texas is a greedy sumbitch but we could've even negotiated a Big 12 network or something. No, we had to take our woes on the football field and we put them on the negotiating table. The Big10 pays their schools a lot more but I bet all we are doing is paying Bo and his idiot staff.
I'm glad I've read this board for awhile so I know that you don't represent NU's fanbase. Very pathetic mindset.

Well I was going to cheer for you guys tonight. After this thread, though...
Amazing run by Taylor, though.
See...I'm enjoying most of this thread....
Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks I guess
Haha honestly I love the hate as well. I'm just ribbin'.

Don't like the B1G.
It's nice to be away from the stench and corruption of texa$$, but the football is terrible, the baseball is worse, we have to play away games much farther away, and many of the fan bases (PSU, Iowa, Wisconsin) are horrible to deal with. The new rivals are fun, at least for a couple of years, but if we stay in this conference, we will likely never win another MNC.
In retrospect, I would have rather went to the Pac-12, even if we would have gotten smashed this year. Better football, better baseball, not quite as good in basketball, and we get to play in Cali, which is better recruiting grounds.
? if you want to win a MNC, then go undefeated. If OSU weren't ineligible they'd be two games away from the MNC game. Win all your games. You're Nebraska. If you go undefeated, you go to the title game.
The relative weakness of the B1G this year will not prevent that.

Really, NU needs to shift their focus from baseball to basketball. Once you guys can field a decent bball team (and I think you've made the right step with Miles), the move over to the B1G will be even better.
This is a crime just saying this, I will be shocked if your not banned from just posting this.
Baseball in Nebraska is a tie for second. Omaha has the college world series every year and it is sold out for every game (I believe, been awhile since I been there, but my cousin goes every year and gives me the high lights). That series is what hockey is to Michigan. NU just needs to get their team back up to the ranks.
Basketball is our worst sport and barely gets the support. It will be awhile before it does. We are hoping that the new arena helps out, but I doubt it will.
Football, Baseball and womans volleyball are our top 3 sports and don't see them moving anytime soon.
Well, I'm not saying abandon the baseball program or anything. Despite what you hear from fans in the B1G for UM it is: 1. football 2. basketball and then hockey at 3. Basketball will generate more revenue than baseball and will garner more national interest. Obviously I understand the legacy of baseball in Nebraska but shifting focus slightly from baseball to basketball should be a part of making the move to the B1G.
-
The B1G is always going to be behind the south in terms of baseball, simply as a by-product of their location.

Btw, I'm going to just make this thread every year from now on. Look forward to to 2054: "How do you feel about the B1G implementing hoverboarding robots?"
As coaches, obviously. The players will clearly be amorphous blobs at that point.

Hey guys,
Just curious what your thoughts are about the conference in general, all of the specific fan bases and campuses, all that jazz. You've had an opportunity to either host or visit most of the universities in the conference now and I'm just curious if anything has changed since year 1.
Love this board and I thank you guys for having me. It's so fun to have a great program like yourselves amongst us now and I love hearing about all the teams that I've known all my life from a different perspective.
P.S. Understand this might belong on the B1G board, hope it's not a problem!
P.P.S. I understand the season isn't finished yet, but you get the gist.

I know the competition has been weak so far but UM has been looking great and has not been this athletic and exciting in a LONG time! Love me some college BB.
-
Let's hope so. Some very intriguing match ups this year.
-
Le'veon Bell is an awesome running back. He should stick to doing that. He'd get more respect if he made his statements on the field.
Really? Honestly I think he's one of the most overrated players in the country. He dances too much for being so big. Makes him easy to tackle. Yeah he got like 190 yards but seems to be a poor man's TJ Duckett.
-
were fairly good, I thought. Pretty fair, didn't have a pre-set list of talking points to force on the game, but let the game come to them. My only minor complaint was Spielman saying "Sparty" all the time seemed un-professional. Seemed to make an effort to figure out how to pronounce names.
Love it. Most MSU fans hate being called "Sparty". Kind of like us and "Big Blue".
Whoops. Shouldn't have admitted that.
-
everybody here sure seems confident. hope the game lives up to it's billing.
