  1. Just got this email from one of the alumni groups in Texas...

"The three Alumni Chapters in Texas (Houstonians for Huskers, North Texas Nebraskans, and the Capital of Texas Nebraskans) have collectively worked to get official specialty license plates for any one that would like to obtain them for their vehicle.

My Plates is the organization that will be providing the specialty plates and you may review their information at the web site below.

Anyone interested in these plates should go to www.myplates.com/nebraska and “pre-register” for the plates by filling out the questionnaire. This provides My Plates a record of all the people interested in purchasing the plates so My Plates can send out an e-mail confirming the exact date and any changes there might be.

The release date for the plates is estimated to be mid September. Providing the pre-registration information will expedite the order process upon release of the plates."

  2. IMO, johnson for A&M is by far the best overall athlete, but I thinK Gabbert hasd the most probable success. Except in "Lincoln!

Agreed. I think Gabbert is the best overall QB.

I hope that Lee proves he can move up this list a little bit. I remember before the 2009 season when people were so enthusiastic about what they'd been hearing out of training camp and whatnot. Big arm, quick legs, etc.

I have a pet theory on Lee, though. Ever see the guy's parents during games? They look like they really couldn't care less regardless of what's going on down on the field. Lee throws a huge bomb for a TD, Dad's face says, "Meh." Lee gets the snot hit out of him by some pass rushing lineman? Dad's face says, "Meh." I wonder if Lee is sort of an eager beaver type who tries too hard to please Dad. Maybe that's completely off base and just baseless speculation.

    But think about it.

It makes sense per his erratic decision making.

Anyway, I digress. I can't wait to see the guy prove himself more this fall. I'd love to see him split PT with Martinez.

  3. The only bad thing about DeJon Gomes is that we only have one more year of him. If only he'd have been here his whole career. Bummer.

    Very true.

Although, the bright side of that is that Bo is good enough at spotting defensive talent that I think we're going to be seeing a lot more guys like DeJon Gomes. What a BAMF. :throwdabones1:

  4. What a load of hogwash!

Although last year's pre-season poll was not that far off.

With USC ready to tank, I don't think some of the wacky Pac-10 predictions are all that impossible. I don't think Lane Kiffin is going to do much of anything with the players that do stick around... I think the Pac-10 is wide open this year and anything is really possible. Say Washington has a great year (with only a loss to the Huskers). Winning the conference would propel them up the ranks pretty quickly. Not out of the question.

Like someone said earlier, I too think this team has an outside chance of earning a #1 ranking by the end of the season if we go undefeated... but a preseason #1 is just silly.

Hopefully we'll be a in position before too long to warrant preseason #1s.

  5. main question i have is.....are there 2 carlfences???

I just registered here a little while ago and have never registered on this forum before. I must be a different carlfence. Why is the other guy not here anymore?

Oh . . . I'm still here. From your posts in this thread you are like my uncynical and optimistic alter ego.

    Did alternate universes just collide?

No, I just misspelled my username.

    Oh well!

  7. Ok so the season is sneaking up on us, and I was looking at some stuff and I noticed something interesting. Follow me here...

    Roy Helu Statistics:

    2007- 209 yards

    2008- 803 yards

    2009- 1147 yards

    Total- 2,159 yards

Which currently ranks him 22nd in Nebraska's record books for career rushing. Now lets say Roy rushes for 1,000 yards in 2010, that will give him 3,159 yards. Which would rank him 4th in career rushing yards behind Mike Rozier, Ahman Green, and Eric Crouch.

Granted we will have to see whether or not he can obtain that 1,000 yards this year, but that is some impressive company. I know a lot of people fell in love with Rex, but I still think Roy is our best option at RB this year and I hope he gets enough touches and stays healthy to put up at least 1,000 yards.

Call me crazy but I think we will be afforded the luxury of having two 1000-yard rushers this year in Helu and Rex. We have a unique opportunity for a great name for our two-headed rushing attack... Helusaurus Rex.

We'll have three 1000 yard rushers if Martinez starts at QB.

Oh man how I want Martinez starting at QB. I could easily deal with four years of that dude.

  8. They are idiotic for not accepting that offer. Get out from under Texas' shadow, Texas would still keep that rivalry, it could only have increased prestige and income for all those involved. aTm needs out of debt, too.
