No, that's not how it works in the Marine Corps. Whether it's for Family Day liberty or for graduation, once their senior drill instructor dismisses the platoon, they're free to move as they wish. I would definitely recommend doing your best to get to your son quickly, though. There will be thousands of people there and it's pretty overwhelming after having not socialized for three months.

The day before his graduation day is called Family Day. The graduating company goes on a moto run, where you'll get to watch them run and do cadences and such. After the run, there's about an hour of break and then they march down to the theatre and have liberty call. That's the first time you'll get to talk to him. Liberty lasts about five or six hours, I think. The new Marines go back to their barracks for the night after that. The next day is graduation day. It starts around eleven and takes about an hour. After the ceremony is over, he's officially done with boot camp and can start his ten days of leave.

Is he going to San Diego or Parris Island?

This definitely need its own thread.

Sagarin's rankings are notoriously inaccurate until the end of the season. It might be better to revisit this topic in a few weeks.

Barring some sort of catastrophic injury or something bad happening at the Combine, Randy is going to be a top five pick.

I didn't cringe on every pass Joe Ganz made I guess....
He had a good motion, but Joe threw a lot of interceptions.

We can win games on special teams and defense. This isn't the same team that Nebraska has fielded in recent years. Tim Beck is just... I don't know anymore. Some of the worst playcalling you'll ever see.

I like to compare Tom Brady and Peyton Manning to Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell. Peyton is Wilt and Tom is Bill. Wilt was, without a doubt, the better player, but he played on much worse teams than Bill did. Bill won tons of championships because of his great teammates, but was certainly not as talented as Wilt. Likewise, Peyton has played with less talent around him (on the defensive side, at least) and is more talented, while Tom has played with much better teammates and isn't as talented. With that said, I'll take Tom Brady any day of the week.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that they would probably be shot to death by some combination of police, FBI, and military.

I mean, I'm all for passing to Westy in clutch time, but if Hovey doesn't run into the defender, we at least get a first down and possibly a touchdown on that play.

For comparison, Leslie Smith was injured a month before Rose. He's hoping to play in January (right at six months).
I would imagine basketball players like him could probably come back a little quicker than a football player
It's the opposite, actually. Ligament and meniscus injuries in basketball usually have a longer recovery time than those for football players. A football player can be expected to return from an ACL tear in about 6-8 months, while the time frame for basketball players is usually somewhere in the neighborhood of 7-12 months, or longer.

The Hyatt Place in the Haymarket is pretty new and nice, from what I've heard.

#ExcusesI learned this team continues to improve. Michigan State may be on a higher level than us, but that's only because they started higher. We're getting there, and there's reason to believe we'll get to the top of this conference this year.
IF we stop losing guys to injury.
Pretty legitimate actually. If you lose key players or at least a large number of players and expect to win a championship, you're delusional.
I think you missed the sarcasm.

Where's the idiot that kept saying Randy had Clowneyitis? He had 2.5 sacks, this block, and a tackle on a WR about 20 yards from the LOS. I think he's giving it his all.

After four games I must say that I am very impressed with the intensity and emerging talent on the defensive side of the ball. With that being said, I have been and continue to be completely unimpressed with the Defensive play calling of John Papuchis. I find myself often wondering if he is fit to coach a high school team and if he could get any job on his own merit instead of because he is friends with Bo.
Papuchis changed the coverage immediately before the snap on Kalu's interception.
Papuchis said Nebraska changed coverages right before the snap on Kalu’s interception. The true freshman dropped into zone coverage, and was waiting for the Brad Kaaya pass on fourth-and-4.Another article I read gave Papuchis direct credit for moving Kalu on that play.
Also remember that Papuchis is calling a defense without Aaron Curry, Charles Jackson, LeRoy Alexander and Michael Rose-Ivey. One third of his projected starting lineup for this year's defense is either hurt, suspended or transferring.
So maybe you could cut him a little slack on this, huh?
Why would you include Aaron Curry on that list? He supposedly transferred because he fell to number five on the DT rotation.

The right side of the line has looked extremely impressive. I don't think I've ever seen a large part of an OL not commit a penalty this far into a season.
-
I really like Kalu. It might be interesting to see if he can beat out Cockrell for that nickel spot by the end of the year.

like i said....Randy wasn't helping things though. A couple times he was close to taunting, clapping in a guys face as they walked down the field. Jawing is fine but you keep it in check.
But the issue here isnt jawing. Its pushing and punching and cheap shots? Who crossed that line? Surprise surprise.
Uh. Both teams did.
Randy Gregory and Josh Mitchell should be thanking the NCAA that they didn't get ejected. Especially Josh - he was digging his hands into the facemask of a Miami player.
The NCAA would not get involved with something as trivial as the stuff that happened last night. The B1G might, but considering how much players like Taylor Lewan got away with last year, you pretty much have to commit murder to be suspended in this conference.
William Ghoulston got suspended for this stuff a few years ago, which was worse but not a lot worse than what we saw Mitchell up to last night (although the situation is different when everyone is getting into it instead of just one player):

Like you said, the situation was completely different. If Josh Mitchell had done what he did after a normal play instead of during a large scuffle, he would be suspended.

Man, you post a lot of dumb threads. If you honestly think Randy didn't look good last night, I don't think you understand how football works.

I think we can all finally agree that Josh Banderas does not deserve to be a starter. He wouldn't have beat out Michael Rose for the job and his play has not shown that he deserves to start over Trevor Roach. I'd really like to see Roach starting from now on. Unless Banderas can show that he can get his head in the game, he has no right to be out on the field.

The bricks on Camp Lejeune. Crappy state, crappy base, crappy barracks. Barely any A/C, no heat, and the room was small as hell. Had to share it with two other guys, too.

Tommy has certainly had his struggles, thus far, but he there is no question about his starting spot. Tommy is the best quarterback on the roster, hands down. I don't know what the hell some of y'all are seeing out of Ryker Fyfe that makes you think he's more capable than Tommy.
Question for prior Marines

I don't know about the only walking on the left thing. I graduated three years ago and they didn't have us do anything about people walking around us. The only thing we really had to watch out for was that we couldn't hold hands with anybody. You had to hold arms, instead.
