  1. Lots of talk about the QB play. It's significantly improved, no doubt. If Taylor remains beat up, they should start Armstrong or Kellog, even in B1G play. If Taylor gets healthy, I'd be fine seeing what he brings to the table.

That said, lots of fans are missing the biggest difference in the offense today: the offensive line. They are obliterating SDSU's defense so far.

  2. This game is the SuperBowl for the Jacks and you gotta believe they will be playing with fire in their hearts which cannot be said for our team. Am I wrong?

You are wrong about one thing - this isn't their Super Bowl. Next week, they play North Dakota State. That's a bigger, more important game to SDSU fans and players than Nebraska.

Frankly, I'd rather have Nebraska be their Super Bowl. The way it is now, they'll play with a lot of fire, passion, and they'll really want to beat us - but they're not going to be tight. They'll play loose.

The original article mentions that Nebraska was ranked #6 when the Jackrabbits gave them a scare in 2010.

Serious question: is the 2013 Nebraska team that much different from the 2010 team?

I think the 2013 team is worse...

  3. Wouldnt you be excited if you found out who recorded what you perceived as a private conversation and rant? And then released it causing damage to your public personna and grief to your family? I sure would be.

No I agree, it's just the wording and the image I got from it that I found funny. I see Bo looking something like this:

And the tipster's reaction when he finds out that Bo knows he was the leak:

  4. How are some of you gonna feel if Scott Frost spits in our face if we offered him the HC job at Nebraska?

Not going to happen. We're not going to offer the job to a guy who's only been a coordinator for a year, but if he were to get that offer, he'd be absolutely nuts not to take it (or he'd have to know that he's a few short years from the Oregon job).

  5. Whoever is or will be the head coach at Nebraska, the most important thing is that he gets it. Gets the program, gets the state, gets the culture.

That's why I want Bo to succeed. He gets it. That's also why people entertain thoughts about Scott Frost and Craig Bohl - they get it, because they're from here.

Whoever it is, they don't have to be a Nebraska native, they don't have to have head coaching experience, they don't have to necessarily be a proven, elite coach, although all of those things would be great assets to have. More than anything, they have to belong, and they have to want to belong.

THAT is why finding a successful coach at Nebraska is different than other programs. We're not, and we shouldn't, find a Nick Saban, a Mack Brown, a Chip Kelly, etc. Other schools just simply do not have the same culture, and so it works for them to find whoever has the most championships or the highest price tag without any consideration of cultural context. Sometimes some schools are close and go through something similar, such as Michigan with Rich Rodriguez, but for the most part it is entirely unique, and when other schools don't take those considerations, what keeps happening as a result? Sanctions, vacated wins, scandals, and probations.

    Not here. Not at Nebraska.

That's why I believe Darin Erstad was a great hire, despite zero coaching experience. That's why enough people still support and want for Bo to be the guy that gets us back. That's also why the last decade has been so rough - we have gotten away from our identity.

I'm not in total disagreement with you, but Bob Devaney wasn't a Nebraska guy. If you find the right guy, they can fit the culture irregardless of whether they've been here before or not. Shawn Eichorst is an example of that - he's not a Nebraska guy, but so far he seems to understand what it's about much better than Pederson.

  6. For the record, I've never heard any one drop a racial slur at a game. Never.

If I did, not only would I turn to them and tell them to shut the hell up, but I'd be willing to guarantee that about 10 other people in the area would do the same. Hell, most of the people in my section get mad just when people who clearly know nothing about football start criticizing players or coaches.

If someone is dropping racial bombs, do something about it. Don't just sit there.

  7. Stuff like this is why Bo should probably just have a social media ban. At this point, it's not that his players make mistakes on social media. Very rarely do we see a player tweet something that deserves to be taken down, but clearly the players (and coaches) are unable to filter the criticism appropriately. They're reading too much about themselves, whether it's positive or negative.

The overall vibe of the fan base is no different than it was in 1996, when they booed Scott Frost. But back then, you couldn't just pop onto Twitter after the game to give an earful directly to the kid.

  8. Oh, Tom is responsible too. It's why he left.

But Harvey lying to the media about this is more disconcerting. I heard rumors about this existing last summer. There's no way in hell Harvey didn't know.

Do you think that this is all that there is? I'd be somewhat shocked if there isn't more to come.

There might be more out there, but I doubt it gets released. If there's someone that people are more pissed at than Bo, it's the guy who leaked this.

  9. Technically Bo was just saying it took everything in him not to say "Eff you, fans" as they were leaving the stands. So he's talking about the ones who left early, and he's talking about holding back from that. Which he did. So I guess he felt it, he just didn't say it. But he said that he was gonna say it, although he didn't say that publicly. Although now it's public. If that matters.
