  1. It's been a while since I visited Huskerboard! I had a couple of family health issues to deal with the past several months, but things have calmed down for a while, so thought I'd check things out! There are lots of familiar names and lots of new names too. Good to see you all! Seems we've all been disappointed especially this past weekend. I've been a fan since the late 60's so I know the ups and downs! I guess the older I get, the less angry I am. We loved listening to Lyle Bremser on the radio and how he described each play! We've been blessed with so many good players and coaches through the years. A lot of you probably don't remember those days, but they were good! Back to back National Championships! I have always been proud to be a Husker fan. Of course disappointed lots of times, but never ashamed to be a fan! I know I am just a dumb, old, female, but I will support this team unconditionally. I don't like the way some things have gone these past few years, and I have some opinions of my own. Those players don't want to lose! The coaches don't want to lose! I have been lucky enough to see lots of home games and several away games. Went to the Gator Bowl a few years ago. I wasn't too thrilled about joining the B1G, but living in Ohio, we've been to Michigan and Purdue to see games! Living in Buckeye country hasn't been so easy, but I still proudly wear my Husker clothes every chance I get. I'll be heading to Lincoln for the Michigan State game. It'll be the 10th "Mother-Daughter Football weekend"! My Mom is 82 and is one of the biggest Husker fans I know! Guess that's where I got it! Go Big Red!

  2. I am leaving Ohio at 3:30 am to get to the airport in Columbus. It's our Mother-Daughter Football Weekend! Looks like it's going to be a perfect afternoon for some Big Red football! This is our 9th year and hopefully we get a few more years in. Mom is 81 but will be the first to jump up or yell for our team. There is no sitting still for her! She has been going to games since she was a young girl. Our seats are in Sec. 35, Row 20. Would love to say "hi" to any Huskerboard members! It's been a while since I've seen some of you guys! Go Big Red!

  3. OP, Where have you been for the last year and a half?...

Relax francis. ohiohusker is a great lady. she's curious. she asked a question. she just wants an answer.

Thanks! I don't have a chance to get on here every day.....work a full time job and volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Takes up a lot of my free time. Sorry I asked a question that had already been addressed. It made me think of my boys and thier superstitions. My youngest had to have Count Chocula cereal before he wrestled!

  4. Thanks! Since I live in Ohio now, and only about 90 minutes from THE Ohio State University, I was just hoping that I can find a season ticket holder who would want to buy and sell me their tickets.

OH HSKR FAN.....what part of Ohio are you from?

  5. I am all for woman and sports, but have to agree....she was horrible! As far as Joey Galloway....he is from a small town about 20 minutes from where I live. He was a standout in a few sports, but excelled in football. He has contributed back to the Ohio Valley and just recently surprised his high school coach with a brand new Cadillac. His coach was being inducted into the OVAC Hall of Fame. His reporting was not great either! I don't think anybody can ever compare with Lyle Bremser and the good ol' days though!

  6. It's almost time for our annual Mother-Daughter football weekend! So.....I am looking for tickets for the Michigan or Penn State games.

Mom turned 81 in February, but is still going strong, but the North Stadium seems to work much better due to the fact there are railings to help us out.

Would appreciate considering us if there are tickets out there for sale! Thank you and GO BIG RED!

PS....Mom is up and down cheering and yelling for the entire game! Not the typical 81 year old!

  7. I am sure most of these people are good, working class folks that probably live very similar lives to most of you here. It's just that a lot of these people know how to flip a switch when game time comes. It's what Saturdays are for. Go have fun. Get loud, get goofy, back up your team and try to help them as much as you can. As long as nobody gets hurt, we are all big boys and girls and can handle all the other stuff. Can't we? Maybe that's the part I'm wrong about, hell I don't know. These players flip the switch when the game starts. They do and say some obnoxious things out there. They take some shots and dish some out. They get hands jammed into their faces and jam their hands into opposing teams faces. At the end of the game, we shake hands, say good game, and go on with our lives. That's football. Ndamukong Suh looks and sounds like a pretty ruthless crazy dude out there on the field. Seems like a pretty damn nice guy outside of that few hours every weekend though.

I agree....most of those people are good, hard working people similar to us. I am definitely a big girl, but I guess I just don't understand what name-calling, insults, and obnoxious behavior have to do with college football. Saturdays ARE for college football, fun, getting loud, and backing up your team. I've been doing it for 45 years....probably much longer than you have. I am still hoarse this evening from yelling and cheering. And at the end of the game.....we did stand for our Huskers, and we chatted back and forth with other fans. As for the drunk, rude guys behind us? They stumbled down the steps before the game was even over.

  8. Badgerfan, as a Husker fan, I have to say I am in complete agreement with you. Away games are supposed to be hostile environments! That's why it's called home field advantage. It's why Nebraska will continue to get their asses stomped in Wisconsin and Michigan and those teams will come to our stadium and feel like they never left their own back yard. Nebraska fans come to the game to sit and enjoy the show. That's fine, but they have to understand that most fan bases understand that they are part of the game. Fans can affect the outcome of games people. It's when Northwestern comes into Nebraska and beats our ass that the Husker fans should realize they did not do their part. Offenses like that can be hurt by lack of communication. Northwestern had no trouble communicating. The two loudest, most hostile fan bases we've seen this year, Wisconsin and Michigan, the worst two panty waist ass beatings we got slapped around like girls were...........hmmm? Coincidence? I think not. This pissing contest between Nebraska fans and everyone else is getting old. You all said the same sh#t about the Big 12 fans too. Getting mad at other fan bases because they choose to be vocal and aggressive in their duty to help their team? Get over it. I completely agree about personal attacks, cursing in front of children and any of that out of line crap that grown folks shouldn't be lowering themselves to. Getting angry because a fan base is loud, obnoxious and in a way sticking the flag into their own turf for all to see, well how can you get mad at that. Jealous maybe? I think so. I think a lot of Husker fans were shocked by what a 'real crowd' can do to change a game. We got a bit offended when we saw how much Wiscy and Michigan fans reflected the aggressiveness of their football teams. Those teams came out and hit us in the mouth and spit in our face. The same way their fans would if you came to their door and tried to beat them on their doorstep. Well I see a Nebraska team that would invite you in for coffee, offer you some fresh cupcakes they just baked, and pat you on your back and say have a great day thanks for stopping by. This team plays with the same lack of passion and aggression that their fan base represents.

I was only giving my opinion on my experience at the game. On average, most of the fans were nice to us. I didn't really notice any exceptional loud fan base though. Obnoxious? Some were. Am I jealous? Absolutely not! Michigan fan aggressiveness? Is that why there are SWAT team members at all games?
