    Enjoy!

    1. NEBRASKA

    A look back at 2010

    10-4 overall, 6-2 Big 12

The emergence of Taylor Martinez gave Nebraska a promising start and a top-10 ranking. But things fell apart the last four games, bottoming out with a 19-7 loss to Washington in the Holiday Bowl. The Huskers just missed a Big 12 championship for the second straight year.

    Building blocks

As usual, the Blackshirts should be solid. Jared Crick, Lavonte David and Alfonzo Dennard give NU a standout at each defensive level. Rex Burkhead and Kyler Reed will be key components of the offense.

    Questions marks

Martinez's sluggish finish opens the quarterback competition, creating the possibility that Nebraska puts a new starter in the huddle for the fifth straight year. The offensive line was hit-and-miss all season. Without guards Ricky Henry and Keith Williams, young players must step up. The receiving corps is perhaps the greatest area of concern. Only Brandon Kinnie had more than one catch last year.

    Schedule

Unyielding. After a nonconference slate that requires Nebraska's attention, it opens Big Ten play with Wisconsin and Ohio State. November features road trips to Penn State and Michigan. Fortunately, the biggest divisional games — Michigan State and Iowa — are in Lincoln.

    Our take

Even if Bo Pelini solves his offense, there are too many tough tests to think about a national title. But this division is winnable, even for a flawed team. Look for Nebraska to earn a Dec. 3 date with Ohio State or Wisconsin.

    We won't win the division.

those are my thoughts too.... as it stands now I think we end up 7-5,8-4 I just dont see to many guarnateed wins on our schedule. But who knows, 4-4 or 5-3 might win the division.

Until NU gets a legit D-I QB and an outstanding OC, we can expect to see 7-5 and 8-4 for several years to come

That's pretty harsh. We do need to improve the offense no doubt, but I think seasons like this would still be the exception and not the rule, especially when our schedule gets quite a bit easier in 2 years. But to get to consistently winning CCGs and getting to BCS bowls & title games, yeah, we need offensive improvement.

  2. Wisconsin, they play hard nose big guy football like we do and they have a similar fan base, fanatical for the love of there team but also respectful of other teams and there fans. OSU fans im not so sure about...

Sorry, but wisconsin's fans... little iffy. Not respectful, at all.

raja that.. check out the thread on how they treated TCU fans and their chants during the game.. .sounds like they suck

Been to a game at Wisconsin with my cousin, it was disgusting. Student section chanting, LETS GET WASTED, and words Suck our ****. No WIsconsin is NOT who I would compare NEbraska fans too. Youtube it baby.

This. Wisconsin seems like a nice program and all but their fans are total sh#t. They are open about it too, they don't take cheap shots and throw beer like CU. Wisconsin fans are just openly downright nasty. I would say Iowa, but we don't get along with KSU or Mizzou or CU so I don't see us making nice with another border team. I can't see us getting along with tOSU either, they are effectively the Texas of the Big 10 (with much less control of the conference obv). Perhaps we will form a friendly little rivalry with Michigan or Penn State. (PSU's fans are known to be nasty though too. We'll see)

  3. Ive been reading up on his history at Pitt (since I was young in those days)...turns out that this man LOVES destroying the tradition at proud universities. From wikipedia:

He removed several employees of the athletic department and In the spring of 1997 changed and standardized the athletic uniforms, colors, and logos used by Pittsburgh Athletic Department to emphasize the heritage and location of the University.[3] This involved demphasizing the traditional use of "Pitt" in preference for the use of "Pittsburgh" to refer to the school in press releases and in signage. In doing so, he also abandoned the use of the traditional "Pitt script" logo that had adorned football helmets since 1973. New logos designed by Peter Moore that utilized a "torch-cut" font, which alluded to the heritage of Pittsburgh's steel industry, were introduced along with a new Panther logo with a similar torch-cut style. The blue and gold shades used by the athletic department, previously royal to navy blue and yellow to mustard gold, were also changed to midnight blue and vegas gold. In addition, the existing Golden Panther booster club organization was scrapped and replaced with a new club termed Team Pittsburgh. These moves were controversial among fans, boosters and traditionalists of the University of Pittsburgh athletic teams.

Simply incredible, how this man even got his Pitt job back is mind-blowing.

  4. Wow, those of you that are sticking up for Cotton by saying that "they got confused" ---THAT IS COTTON'S JOB! He's the offensive line coach, he is supposed to teach them how to deal with different blitzes and different looks. Also, #74 bull-rushed right through 3 linemen and then Helu. Pretty pathetic both physically and mentally.

  5. Pedey is so lolbad, the Haywood hiring was funny as hell. Hiring Watson away would be the best thing he ever did for Nebraska, and actually not a bad hiring for Pitt either though.

  6. Is it safe to say he's the greatest kicker in college football history? Because that's what I've been saying.

Statistically, in every single category, Henery is the best kicker in college football history. Absolutely invaluable to our team the past few years. We're going to miss him. A lot.

Is anyone disappointed that we didn't give him a shot in the CCG to kick a 62 yd fg towards the end of the game after our QB took a sack that knocked us out of fg range? He was booming the ball that game, plus it is indoors and on turf. I just feel he was underutilized a bit this year. A Kicker like him doesn't come around very often.

With the way our offense was playing at that point, you have to give him that chance. Really think he would have made it.

Good luck Alex, you'll be making big bucks in the NFL next year.

  7. One sentence: Zac Lee should have been the starting quarterback this season.

Which was a lot harder to say when Taylor was murderating K-State and Washington.

    I agree with Husker_X.

Do people even remember all the hate Zac was getting last season and that we wanting a new QB? Do people remember Taylor surprising EVERYBODY during the opening game with his 3 TD's and then to back that up against K-State, UW, and Okie State? Does anybody realize how much love was going Husker Nation during Martinez's first 7 career starts?

Got a bunch of hypocrites on this board

Hindsight is 20/20. I realize that I was a Martinez fan, but looking back, all of his good performances came against absolutely terrible defenses. Against good defenses where we really needed some experience, a decently accurate passer, and most importantly, a game manager, Taylor failed. Badly. People need to stop using Western Kentucky, K-state, UW, and Ok. St as examples.

If Zac started all season, I fully believe that we would not have beaten down UW and K-state as badly, but we could have had a much better chance to win the 4 games we lost. Probably like a 12-2, Fiesta Bowl season.

Yes, all in hindsight. I'm not pretending to have been calling for Zac Lee all season, and I'm not pretending that I didn't love Martinez at first. But this is what I believe now. I'm allowed to change my mind.

  8. Seriously.

If we're gonna ignore the fact that the Big TEN has 12 teams, then lets just go with the North and South divisions. Is that so hard?

Then what would you call it when Big 12 is taken and you know Beebe will use the excuse of adding two more teams in the future.

    You completely missed my point
