  1. Okla State has a better offense. Gabbert is a better QB, but Weedon had more weapons, namely Hunter. Gabbert and MU's offense are one-dimensional. It's a good dimension with Gabbert throwing a TON, but it's still predictable. I look for Gabbert to get picked on tipped passes a few times. The Husker offense will keep rolling. MUs defense is good, but it's not that good. If you read what this guy has to say, he says that Texas is awful. What does that say about OU? Oklahoma has two wins that are worth talking about, FSU and Texas. Florida State nearly got beat by Boston College. And, remember now, Texas is horrid. Add to that, Oklahoma was in close games against the likes of Utah State and Cincinnati. So Missouri shut down Oklahoma. So what. OU probably is not the greatest team in the world. And neither is Missouri. If the Huskers simply execute their game plan, they win.

Nebraska isn't the greatest team in the world either.. you can't lose to Texas, this year, and be considered a great team.

Will be a great on on Saturday.

  2. what a joke huskers are getting suspended for hitting people too hard on the field. while Okie receivers are getting dewies and attending pro football games(probably given tickets by an agent) a clear NCAA violation. Beebe is a joke and im glad we are leaving the Big 12 because it will go downhill once Nebraska leaves. Big twelve north has been fading for years and once nebraska leaves it almost non existent. Good luck big twelve you will turn into the Big east very soon.

Not exactly correct, Martin suspended for illegal helmet to helmet contact. This is a point of emphasis on every level of football. Martin, in the Big12's opinion, used his helmet illegally on an offensive player, considered to be in a vulnerable position, therefore he was subject to league discipline.

I wouldn't try to correlate the Blackmon and Martin issues, not apples and apples.

I can understand the frustration of NU fans

  3. The Texas defense is the best defense Nebraska will have faced in the regular season hands down. They have better athletes and a better DC than Mizzou. Is Mizzou better this year defensively? Absolutely. But, they're still not Texas which is why I think Nebraska will have a lot more success.

Furthermore, why is Missouri the better team? Because they're undefeated and beat OU for the first time in years? Please. Missouri is a good program but my God. Was it not just weeks ago that people were calling for Yost's head? Missouri looked good Saturday but they have also looked equally as bad in other games. One game won't change that perception for me. Obviously Nebraska isn't unblemished this year, but using this one game against OU as justification over an entire half season's performance so far is laughable.

I know you say Texas has the best defense Nebraska will play, and that may well play out by the end of the season, but right now, I think you have a problem proving that with on the field play up until now. Missouri has proven itself to be much more formidable than Texas at this point, I guess we will see what play out on Saturday.

  4. I think we should be focusing on somebody else to have a good game instead of Gabbert and Martinez and that somebody is Nebraska's D-Line.

In order to win this game we have to put a lot of pressure on Gabbert to force him to make some bad throws and allow our secondary to capitalize on Gabberts mistakes. The D-Line hasn't had a SOLID game yet and they need to step it up against on of the best offenses in the nation with a good QB. The D-Line needs to play their best football this Saturday because whether you want to admit it or not this is probably Nebraskas most important game of the season because whoever wins this game will be playing in the Big 12 Championship game.

Huskerjock, I think you hit the proverbial nail on the head, the line play will decide this game. The only change would be if Martinez gets a couple of big plays even if MU is holding him to 1 or 2 yds per play, Martinez has such explosiveness, he can turn a game around in one snap of the ball.

But, that being said, if MU can control Nebraska's front four, and make Pellini take some chances with the Blitz, Missouri may be able to spring Jackson or Moe for some big plays down the field.

Wow, only Wednesday, can't wait for kickoff.

  5. JTrain, this is one of the things that gets MU fans hyped. Nebraska has a great program, with great tradition, with multiple national titles, multiple Heisman winners.. great great historic wins..

And you know what? Most of the Athletes on Missouri and Nebraska were not even born during most of those Nebraska Wins.

Most of these athletes weren't born? Nebraska's last National Title was only 13 years ago. They played for the BCS NC 9 years ago. Most of these guys were born in the late 80's to early 90's, and since then, Nebraska has played in a National Title deciding game 5 times and has won it 3 times. Also since then, Tommie Frazier and Ndamukong Suh were both Heisman finalists and Eric Crouch won the Heisman.

Not saying all wins.. just most...lol.. easy Lenberg, I see your point.

  6. heres my honest question.

I have watched a good number of NE games this year and NE has not been able to generate much pressure at all on QB's. And as about 20 different posters have mentioned they believe the key is to pressure Gabbert. Then they go on to declair a Nebraska victory, most by double digits. Well my qusetion is, Mu possibly has the best O-line in the big12, and Ne hasnt really presured anyone, what makes you believe with such confidence that you will be able to this week?

It's ok Gabbert will be throwing the ball to receivers perfectly blanketed in man to man coverage. Gabberts going to have at least 2 interceptions. :)

The funny thing is MU lives on the fact that our 5 or 6 is better than yours. If you turn you backs in man, we will run on you. You try to double moe or egnew, then jackson or kemp beats your 3rd or 4th best.

it will be interesting. The single biggest factor in last years game was the ability of NE to put immediate presure on Gabbert.

And this is why I hate mizzou fans you guys talk more crap then anyone else in the big12. Just mad becuzz the big 10 didnt want you :LOLtartar still think you guys beat us in 98 lmao when it was a catch

I don't see anyone "talking crap" looks like just good football debate.. and as a Missouri fan.. who was at the game in '98, that was a catch, it sucks, but it was a crazy play and great reflexes by Davison.. can we move forward to this week now?..lol

  7. 1. I have a feeling martinez is going to make A LOT of freshman mistakes this game. MU brings a lot of different blitzes and i have a feeling he will force some throws that will get intercepted and be rattled by the pressure. Texas didnt blitz all that often while missouri does. I dont think he has seen a defense that has blitzed as much as mizou

    2. I do not feel that our dline will get enough pressure on gabbert and he will have all day to throw. They do run a lot of 4wr rand 5wrr sets, that being said, I feel like gabbert will break down our d if we have to blitz to create pressure.

    3. They are underdogs and most people expect them to lose which eases a lot of pressure off of them to us. I feel like we do not do as well when we are the favorites against a team.

    4. Our oline isnt the greatest and i think their dline/blitzing will cause a lot of mental mistakes and missed blocking assignments. Their D has looked pretty fast.

    5. We are at home.

In conclusion, I hope we beat the living tar out of missouri but i have a bad feeling folks (much like the ttech game last year and the texas game this year). I also feel the most critical aspect to this game will be the play of our dline. If they cant creat pressure by themselves then we are in for a longggg game. GBR!

One thing Missouri has been doing that has been confusing quarterbacks, especially in conference play, is running alot of zone blitzes. MU's DE's have a couple of picks and knockdowns where the QB just doesn't see them dropping into the zone vacated by the blitzing LB. MU could get a big play off of these zone blitzes as they did against OU.

Martinez is playing a more complex defense that is much faster and more athletic than the MU defenses of the past. I read somewhere on Huskerboard where a poster said MU's defense was poorly coached. I tend to disagree, seems to be a very well coached defense.

  8. I guess you can call me a troll now b/c I went to go see what Mizzou fans think about the game. I'm not going to post anything over there, I just wanted to see what opposing fans think about game.

From what I've seen over there, it is much like what we were saying week of UT game. So many people talking about how much they hate NU (sound familiar?), they will beat us into the ground on our way out of the Big 12, they are legit NC contenders (yes, some of their fans have actually said this), their defense is so good and they will stop Martinez and he will be pulled before the 4th quarter, this is our Super Bowl and we will blow it (even tho everyone knew UT was the game we wanted), TT will be a trap game after they blow us out, etc.

Even something about us changing our pregame routine and Carl Pelini saying they are a run first team is disrespectful to them. Also, their OC was quoted as saying they've been watching NU film and preparing since summer (no, its not Tim Beck). I mean seriously, it sounds like us during UT week. So many people here, including myself were drinking the :koolaid2: and we got our butts kicked and ate a lot of crow. Once this week is over, they will go into full meltdown mode and I will love every min. of it. Excluding the respectful Tiger posters here. It seriously reminded me of shaggybevo II. No intelligent football talk, just insults directed at inbred, cornholer, nubsuckers fans. I didn't want to make a prediction about this game b/c I can see it going both ways, but Im going too anyways. Im going to quote Jason Peter Sunday night on sports sound off: "We will beat MU b/c we are f***ing NU and they are MU." Nuff said. (Okay, he didn't say the f***ing part, but you get the point.)

    GBR! Shut the Tigers up!

There are knuckleheads everywhere, the vast majority of Tiger fans, are more than concerned about this game and know Missouri will have to play one hell of a game to have a chance to win. Most of those people are just morons who wouldn't know the game of football even if it hit them in the head. All fan bases have them, I don't care what the team is... you just have to ignore those, and not lump in all with the few.

  9. Really though, who cares? It's Missouri, what did you expect them to act like? Even with a loss we walk away from an occasionally boring, occasionally interesting and occasionally heated series with a 64-37-3 advantage... and Missouri won't play for the national title, this year or any other. They shot their wad in '97.

History means very little when it comes to the matchup Saturday, it just doesn't. Just as Missouri's big win last week against OU means nothing, "cum Satday" (small keith jackson reference)

Yes I agree, Tigerboard is a very poor place to go to talk football.. that is why many Tiger fans are here.. to talk about a great upcoming game and to enjoy the great sport of college football.

  10. I think you are underestimating Missouri. I agree Nebraska is quite athletic, that being said, Missouri is just as "athletic" as Nebraska. The teams are just athletic in different ways. Martinez a tremendous runner, quick, fast.. Gabbert big athlete, cannon for an arm and strong in the pocket with good speed. Both very athletic but different. Helu and Birkhead, strong big running backs, but not really with break away speed. Lawrence and Josey and Devon Moore, very quick very fast, ability to eat up 20 yds quickly.

The WR's of Moe, Jackson and Egnew, athletic, strong receivers and Jackson becoming his old self after injury. McNeil a solid tight end with enough speed to get up the seam, Pauls good speed and a deep threat.

Defensively.. MU has great athletes at LB with Gooden and Ebner.. Nebraska has their great athletes at DB and Lb... Missouri's defensive front probably a bit more athletic with Aldon Smith and J Smith..

Pretty Even from where I sit.. many of you will have a different seat..lol

  11. The last game against Nebraska for Missouri. Well, I for one will miss playing the Husker Nation. I have posted here for the past 4 or 5 years, I used to be SC Tiger, password problems, but wanted to wish Good Luck to the Huskers going to the Big 10. I hope the Huskers dominate, showing how really good the old Big 12 really was. Interesting that the North is dominating the South... finally, in the last year of the conference as originally designed.

In the long run, Missouri staying with the Texas schools is probably best for Missouri, MU, if it continues on this path, should place itself as the third best program in the conference, and keeps it's recruiting pipeline pumping from Texas. Nebraska? Great move for the Huskers, you have to take the opportunity to go to the Big TEN. The leadership of Delaney and the money involved is fantastic.

Maybe as things shake out, Nebraska and Missouri will once again be in the same mega-conference, until then. I will root for Nebraska to take care of tOSU and the rest of the pretenders.

As far as this week, kind of ironic that the series ends with a championship on the line, Missouri has been a formidable foe to Nebraska the past decade as Pinkel built a solid program in Columbia. Smith, Daniel and the rest brought Missouri to a respectable position by making Nebraska a program to emulate. Many MU fans won't say that, but it is true. MU is on the right path under Pinkel, who has done it the right way, brick by brick.

A game of contrasting styles, MU's spread, throwing around the yard, vs Nebraska's read option with an explosive freshman QB who now seems to have found his passing touch.

At the same time, Missouri seems to have found a rushing attack with 175yds vs Oklahoma. I am sure opens the eyes of both defensive coordinators going into Saturday.

Game to be determined by the usual, turnovers, line-play, and special teams. I am hoping for an epic battle.. determined on a Ressel 44 yd field goal for a Missouri win... I am sure you each have a different ending in mind.. lol

A very interesting game, full of great matchups, and unfortunately, from my point of view at least, a sad day as the Nebraska - Missouri series ends.

Best of Luck to the Huskers
