  1. Wear the Wisconsin shirt without the X. High-five Badger fans all game long. Then when Nebraska is in the victory formation icing the win, tear off the Wisconsin shirt Hulk Hogan-style to reveal the Husker shirt underneath and that you were a Husker fan all along. They will be embarrassed but also impressed.

  2. Rumor is Bo will be on Purdue sideline this Saturday in a "tryout" as new Purdue head coach. They want to see how he can do before officially offering.

:ahhhhhhhh Might be tough since Youngstown has a 3:00 PM kickoff at SDSU. :laughpound

    Obviously that's a joke.

  3. That blocked punt was just atrocious. If you see them pinching down to blow up the middle you should probably shift in to a max protect. Not rocket science.

What is up with that goofy spread punt formation where we leave the huge gaps next to the snapper? Does any other team in the county line up like that? It's the second punt we've had blocked from that formation. It's the only time I screamed at the TV all day. Baffling.

Does any HS coach in the country run a spread punt formation backed up to the goal line? We got lucky it only cost us 2.

  4.

Wisconsin's defense is really good actually. People thinking we won't have a problem with them are crazy. Not saying we can't beat them. But we better play a hell of a lot better than we have so far.

Tommy will sling it all over the yard against Wisky. Mark my words.

I love the optimism, but the O/U for that game might be 12.5. Just realized I may have taken your post the wrong way. We may throw it a bunch out of necessity.

Still, lets get by Indiana and Purdue first.

If Mike Riley loses this game today, he's done at Nebraska. You can't lose to Illinois at home, in your 2nd year. Not when your 1st year was an utter failure.

One can hope. After forty years of rooting for the Huskers, I'm now boycotting the team until Riley and the anti-American players are no longer part of the football program. Let's go Illinois!

Awesome! See you around in a few years. Don't let the door hit ya and all that. :lame

  6. Nebraska football represents the state of Nebraska. I do not care what people do in their own time. This "platform" that players think they are entitled to doesn't belong to them. These players do not speak for every person in Nebraska. Therefore keep this crap in your personal time.

MRI said a lot of good things at the press conference. Why couldn't he say those things and not bring a negative aspect into it? Why couldn't he speak about this issue without first pissing people off?

This is the perception: I don't live in Nebraska anymore. People at work say "hey saw those players on your favorite football team didn't stand for the national anthem, looks like people in Nebraska are unpatriotic people." Is that true? No. But that's the perception when individuals represent something larger than themselves.

No one where you work has ever said that.

  7. Ill continue to take this stance on this. I really wish it werent made. Im tellin ya. Theres gonna be stuff exposed-well beyond the Phillips stuff-that is going to darken this era for some folks. Wed be better off just continuing on our way remembering it like we already do. This series is about contrpversy. Plain and simple. Gonna be a lot of folks wishin theyd just stick to youtube games of the 90s for memories after this is over.

I can see some stuff being new to a national audience, but what could possibly be new to Husker fans?

  8.

I would be happy to perennially finish in the top 10-15 while being in the playoff conversation late in the year. Maybe make the playoff 1 out of 5 years.

Some people have mentioned the advantages we have. Other than "history", what are those advantages?

A LOT of money and the most fervent fan support of any school in the country, to start. Elite facilities and a fantastic academic support system as well.

I'll give you fan support, but not the others unless Buffett has made a major donation to the athletic department I don't know about. Depends on who you are comparing us to. At one time we had a huge facilities advantage, but many schools have caught up and passed us.

  9.

    Transition to who?

I think that's wishful thinking. He either does well and is here another 8 to 10 years or he fails miserably and is gone by 2018.

In either case, what's the transition?

A better coach? If I had to guess which coach, I would guess, and this is just MY guess, Scott Frost.

I believe Scott will be coaching here in the near future, that is unless he falls flat at his new job.

I don't think he's even on the current ADs radar. If Riley is fired before 2018, I don't see frost coming with only 2 or 3 years HC experience. And by 8 years from now, frost will either have failed or will be a HC at a better resourced school.

He doesn't need to be on his radar when he's right in his rear view mirror. Boosters will make sure he's well aware of what Frost does at UCF. The UCF situation could go either way.

  10. From a football standpoint I just don't ever see Oklahoma breaking away from Texas. Too many OU football players from that state. Right now they will play at least a couple of games a year in the state of Texas. Not sure Texas would agree to keep the RRR if OU bolted. Maybe they could fill their OOC schedule with Texas teams.

  11. You can argue there are too many bowl games.

With the current setup it is just awful that the NCAA uses academic performance to fill the "college" bowl game spots when not having enough eligible teams. /sarcasm

I wouldn't be upset if they reserved an annual bowl game for 5-7 teams based on academic performance. Give the schools a bonus for graduating players.

  12. On a side note have we seen the last of Newby? He looked good as a decoy motioning out of the back field. Lol

I don't think so. He can still play a role in this offense. 3rd down/change of pace back. He did seem to want to hit the holes faster last night. His TD run was nice, and he could get better next year. Never hurts to have extra running backs. :)

  13.

Hopefully Langsdorf has realized that a couple of stuffed running plays does not mean the running game has stopped working. It still serves a huge purpose. Shortens the game when your own D might be suspect, wears the opposing DL down, forces the opposing D to commit more players to the box, and opens up the passing game.

I agree. It was especially concerning to me when he called a pass play in the waning moments of the game and killed the clock after a negative run play. That could have backfired on us but it didn't so not a lot of people are talking about it. I'd like to believe Langsdorf has learned from this season not to take play calling for granted and is able to manage a game better.

Agree. The 3rd and 1 pass play on the drive that resulted in the field goal had me upset. We were bulldozing them and could have had 1st and goal from the 2 while taking another minute plus off the clock.
