Ah, Huskers, we meet again.

I think ESPN just likes pitting us against each other lol.

Hell of a last day, gents! Cant believe yall even outvoted us again yesterday.

I agree--always fireworks when Aggies and Huskers go head to head.

What if the delay in announcing a winner is because at the end of the voting the scores were tied?

Then we should have a commercial featuring both schools talking about how we are better off in our new respective conferences and that the Big 12 sucks.

This would make me DAMN happy--two of the best fanbases in college football featured soon after ditching the worst conference in the nation. Would be so effing perfect.

And by the way, good show, Huskers. Win or lose, that was a lot of fun down the stretch.

The thing I can't figure out is, if you're an Aggie, do you view that 9-6 game as a fairly-officiated contest? What do they say when they see 16 penalties to 2? Did they condone the nut-grabbing?

I wonder stuff like that in those types of games too, or even in super close games. For instance, I've never bragged about beating Missouri in '96 because it was such a good game and I felt kind of bad for them (even though more recently that team and its fans have annoyed me). So if I were a Texas A&M fan I'd like to think I wouldn't brag about beating Nebraska 9-6. I also haven't bragged about beating Ohio State. I'm proud that Nebraska came back and, whatever the circumstances, it was valiant, but we know what those circumstances were. I think the game probably would have gone into OT if Miller hadn't been injured but who knows what would have happened then?

 

So in short, if I was an Aggie, I wouldn't view it as fairly-officiated and I wouldn't ignore the fact that Nebraska's QB was injured.

Not to discount everything that you said, but there were a ton of factors in play on our side during that game, as well. First, general frustration with Texas A&M football by the fans after the Fran years and the first two campaigns of the Sherman era. It was a make or break season, and (at the time), the program seemed to be turning the corner. To play well in a hotly contested, nationally televised primetime game with the largest student section on hand for the final home game of the season made it a showcase of sorts for A&M. That was my last game as a student there, and the buzz on campus the week before the Nebraska game was palpable.

Regarding penalties, I'm not going to say the game was fairly officiated AT ALL. BUT, you won't hear most Aggies apologize about that night. In our previous two games against OU and Baylor, we could not BUY a call. Two of the worst officiated games I've ever attended. Baylor got away with murder in Waco and the zebras allowed them to keep that game closer than it should have been. OU got every call two weeks before, and on OUR field, no less. Yes, the Ags won those games, but the penalty discrepancy was appalling. Nebraska was viewed as a game where we finally got respect from the officials, regardless of whether other factors were at play.

And lastly, yes, that makes Aggies hypocritical, but what sports fan isn't? And don't think we haven't been on the other side of the fence with that, too. Our last Big12 game against texas featured an unbelievably ridiculous unnecessary roughness penalty that allowed the horns to continue their drive for a game winning fg. No, the game shouldn't have been close, but same situation as y'all against us in 2010, it's hard to believe our imminent departure from that joke of a conference didn't play at least a part in how the game was called.

At the end of the day, though, gotta put that behind us--y'all are B1G, we are SEC, and hopefully our programs can find long term success in their new respective homes. Miss playing y'all and hobnobbing with Husker fans.

Howdy y'all. First off, I want to say good luck this Friday and I really hope you win the B12 this year (unless we somehow backdoor into the game, of course!).

 

I want to say thanks for all of the awesome visits that I have had up to Lincoln over the years and I am going to miss that. Did my part yesterday by doling out food and beers to any Husker fans that went by our tailgate... Special shoutout to the 'Mad Hatter' NU fan from Des Moines that shared his "Big Red Apple Pie" hooch with us...

 

As far as the game, being at the game, I guess I still haven't seen some of the things that you guys saw on TV. I can tell you that I was very surprised at the # of calls that went against NU as compared with the # we got. The only one I remember being blatantly bad was the roughing the passer at the end and, unfortunately, that led to our game-winning FG.

 

That said, A&M fans know how you feel - we have been on your end of those ref screw jobs for years and have had to battle through that a lot this year, too - esp. against OU and Baylor.

 

I guess we are lucky that you guys chose to go to the B10 this year and the B12 refs are *apparently* incentivized to make it as hard for NU to win games as possible.

 

At the end of the day, as a fan, I know that a win is a win and I'll take it, although I wish we could've done it under better circumstances.

 

Anyways - beat the hell outta CU and OU/OSU - and good luck next year in the b10!

 

 

I will agree with Most on people on this board. NU got shafted last night. I was sitting there watching the Game And asked my cousin Who is as big of A&M fan as i am a husker fan, if he was seeing what i was? And he asked Are u talking about the continues Holding #71 for A&M is getting away with, which yes it was what i was talking about. The roughing the passer call Cmon How do u call that seriously? And the PI call where they picked up the Flag your kidding right? Go back and watch the PI call dennard got called for and tell me the reciver was not shoving dennard all over the place Or at least trying to. best of luck to all of you, But the BEST team DID NOT WIN that game

Agree with everything you said save for your last sentence. This was ultimately a death match between the Blackshirts and the Wrecking Crew, and the better team DID prevail.

Great game, huskers--sorry about the officiating. I promise you it's not because y'all were playing us, though--we've been getting screwed by calls like that against OU and baylor the past two weeks in a row.

Still think y'all are some of the best fans I've ever run across.

Honestly, I was cheering the defensive play--I didn't even realize Martinez was hurt until well after he'd been on the ground (I was at field level). My only clue was students behind me yelling "Off the wood," (i.e., get off the bleachers and shut up because there's an injured player).

Would never cheer an injury.

Call me crazy, but if it comes down to the Aggie offense or the Aggie defense having to win this game, I'm going with the Wrecking Crew every single time. Much more confidence in them than our hot/cold offense, tbh.

And yeah, quite serious. I don't think we're going to blow you out, but I think a lot of people are underrating A&M on both offense and defense and if we're sharp I think this could be a heck of a game.

Hoping for an injury free game myself. Tannehill is one tough son of a gun. Here's hoping for a defensive showdown between the Blackshirts and the Wrecking Crew!

Not sure if they'll be a place at Northgate showing the fight, the two places I would call and check would be Buffalo Wild Wings on University Dr (It's between Texas Ave and Hwy 6) and Wings N' More which is on University too.

Or maybe Fox and the Hound?

Eh, idk about Fox/Hound--I think Buffalo Wild Wings would be your best bet.

How many of those student tickets do you suppose have been scalped to Nebraska fans? A lot of us students used to do it especially the CU game the day after Thanksgiving. We could sell those tickets, pay for our entire student tickets for the year, and typically have money left over.

 

If you're a Nebraska fan and got scalped a student ticket you'll be in for a suprise on gameday when you get to the gate and don't have a TAMU Student ID to accompany that ticket and they turn you away.

 

A few things to consider:

 

Nebraska has sold out more than 300 consecutive games, one of the most impressive stats in all of sports. Because of that you have a high demand for tickets and you can limit your student allotment. A&M in recent years (we've been pretty average to down right poor for the last decade) probably sells out 2-3 games per year (Texas, Texas Tech, OU, Nebraska, etc.). Therefore the Nebraska athletic department can do whatever they want to limit their students and shove them up in the corner of the South endzone at Memorial Stadium.

 

AS a previous poster mentioned, the 12th Man (students) get prime seats at Kyle Field, right behind the visiting teams bench from goal line to goal line bottom of the stadium to the top. The band sits right behind the visitor's bench between the 20 and 40 yard line. I haven't had as good a seat after I graduated than I did freshman to senior year, and that's the way it should be! Those are the students classmates that are competing and everyone that wants to should have the ability to go and support them on game day. This of course means that former students and other fans have to subsidize the student body. Do you know how crazy it drives $Bill Byrne that he can't charge premium rates for 50 yard line seats for half the stadium? So everyone else ends up fitting the bill, A&M has the highest season ticket prices in the Big 12 and I'll be glad to keep it that way if it means tradition is upheld and the 12th Man continues to be a factor during games.

Can't tell you how much I agree with this statement. Hard to put into words how much it means to me personally to be within shouting distance of the players on the field (especially since my little brother is a walk-on freshman this year). This is going to be my last time standing with the 12th Man, and win or lose, it's been an honor and an experience I'll always cherish.

Had to camp out in front of the ticket office at 4AM today to get tickets for my girlfriend's Corps outfit (It paid off, we're gonna be in the front row. Whoop for being a senior!). The demand is absolutely ridiculous--gonna be the most packed Kyle's ever been. Win or lose, if you're a college football fan, you're gonna love the atmosphere!

What Gig'emAgs04 said lol. You won't find the arrogance of longhorn fans or the dewshiness of texas tech fans here in College Station. Just a ton of Ags, young and old, that are excited to see this team finally start to stand up for itself. Aggieland prides itself on being a good host--I hope y'all have a great time in Texas!

The Arkansas game was actually a neutral site game in Arlington--other than that, this schedule is pretty much the same one we played in 2006 (my freshman year).

Not necessarily--y'all's game was hyped as a potential revenge matchup. Ours is more about welcoming a ranked team back to Kyle Field for the first time in too long.

In other words, it'd be a huge game regardless of who's on the schedule. Glad we're playing y'all though! Just adds to the atmosphere.

The outpouring of support on campus has been phenomenal so far. Through two days, the students have broken the record for pulling tickets that was previously held by our matchup against texas in 2007. The atmosphere should be fun!

Tannehill or Johnson fan?

Both. They're both class acts and quality players. Johnson's offseason shoulder surgery put a damper on what could've been a special season (he broke the A&M record for TD throws last year), but instead of a potential QB controversy, JJ has shown nothing but class. He's still highly regarded in the locker room, and represents the team well as one of the captains. Tannehill hasn't shown any cockiness since being given the starting role, either, so I have to say it's a push between the two for me.

Just wanted to let y'all know how much I'm looking forward to this weekend! It will be my last game as a member of the 12th Man (student section @ Kyle Field), and regardless of the outcome, I know it will be an enjoyable experience having y'all make the trip down to College Station. My favorite fans in the Big 12 by a wide margin, and it's not close. Will be sorry to see y'all go.

Now, on to football!

I wouldn't have said this a few weeks ago, but I believe y'all may be in for one of your tougher tests when you visit Kyle Field. After a tough losing streak, the switch at QB seems to have ignited both the team and the fanbase. I'll stop well short of calling Ryan Tannehill a "savior," but his demeanor and leadership under center has been infectious as the season wears on. For those who don't know, he's played last season and half of this season as a WR, so he's no stranger to the field. Our RB, Cyrus Gray, isn't necessarily going to wow you with speed or bowl anyone over, but time and again he finds ways to get his yards and wear down a defense. He's rushed for 100+ yards in four consecutive games--it will be interesting to see if he can keep up that torrid pace against the Blackshirts.

For those who haven't seen Jeff Fuller play, let me just say that he is a physical specimen of singular talent. He plays vertically--a tough 1 on 1 cover for any defensive back. OU had some success keeping him doubled, but the rest of the receiving corps including Uzoma Nwachukwu and Ryan Swope, is extremely opportunistic. If anything, Tannehill is a very smart QB who understands the spacing of the defense well.

The defense (our "Wrecking Crew") is really what has Aggies excited about football in November for the first time in too long. Though not the original Wrecking Crew of old, this defense has really stepped up to the plate and given us a chance to win every game we've been in this season (with the exception of Mizzou). Their performance against OU featured no less than 3 goal line stands inside the 5 yard line, in addition to shutting out the OU offense for the entire 1st half. Against Baylor, they rebounded from adversity in the first half to pitch a second half shutout, allowing the offense to win the game. The unit is playing with confidence beyond their years--they'll have to show a ton of maturity once more if they hope to slow y'all down.
