He wasn't in the video and didn't make the video. He should have deleted the video, but people on here are acting like those things are one in the same. It sounds much worse than what he actually did IMO

I agree!  stop acting like he was present and committed the act!

What do you  need?  The officer who he put in the hospital or any of the number of LPD officers who were sickened by the lack of punishment?  Not like the officers have a reason to lie about something like that now would they?  Like I said, not like it was so far under the rug that it did not see the light of day.  Juvenile court is great that way, even if he was weeks away from being 18 years old.

Yeah, there is a LOT of evidence that Scotty Frosty is willing to look the other way when it comes to character of players he is recruiting.  There is a preferred walk-on from the 2019 class from Lincoln Southwest that beat police officer, seriously injuring him and putting him in the hospital, during a drunken brawl at a high school party.  Since he was 17 at the time, the parents fought like crazy to keep it in juvenile court and succeeded in doing so (a family friend is a police officer, so this is all straight from him).  In the end, he never was held accountable at his high school for this or by Nebraska who brought him in.  It is not like things like this were not discussed or widely known.

So yes, there is strong evidence that character can be overlooked when it comes to players.

This is one side of the story.  I know cops usually get to tell their side and thats the one that counts, but if the kid is underage he is underage. Can you provide articles or facts for this story?

He sent a video of the assault to the victim. That's at least the same level of wrong as recording the video.

This is absolutely absurd.  Not even close to the same level.  He was never present.  If he had be present, recorded it, and didn't stop it then absolutely he is culpable of sexual assault.

Washington isn't being charged with a sexual assault, though.

Yes I realize that.  I am saying that at the time that he sent her the video, she had never filed a report.  As far as he knew, he was just sharing a video to be mean.  Its possible he didnt know he was sharing a sexual assault that was recorded.

Agreed, which is why I'm generally alright with him playing last year while it was merely an accusation.

Now? Action needs to be taken until the court case is settled.

I am OK with him playing too....its an incident where he didnt record or commit the act of sexual assault.

  7. I hate how they do these headlines....they are SO misleading. Almost makes it seem like he is preying on children.  Cant just have a knee jerk reaction to the situation. 10 years ago he had broken no laws.  He absolutely should not have sent the video after he received it, but like most 17 or 18 year olds I am sure he didnt know that it would be a felony.  It happened before he got to campus too? March 18? The staff seems to have found out about it in the fall.  Can t suspend/remove a guy if he isnt guilty of anything.  It has to be a wait and see.  Frost seems to be committed to his players, but at some point that may change is the story develops.

  8. I see that we signed Demariyon Houston out of OKC, so it looks like we have 3 spots left.  I know we are in need of a pass rushing OLB, but there doesn't seem to be much buzz out there about how we get to 30 for this class.

Anyone got solid leads on who those next 3 might be? (And by solid leads I mean "dreamy wonderland wishful unicorn" thinking is accepted.)

I think much of what happens at the professional level of sports is unfair, but Taylor is a shiny new offensive toy that spent two years under the current shiniest toy in the NFL. There are a lot of franchises (particularly the Bengals) sort of floating in this nebula of mediocrity that are willing to take a risk like this in order to put fans in the seats and try to capture some of the McVay magic.

I think you make a valid point.

We're Back Baby! Haven't had players ticketed like this for parties and disorderly since the 90's. Closest thing was the Riley era when a case of ice cream sprinkles got scattered in the middle of 14th.

Exactly what I was thinking!   When you are trying to throw a good party, you can have no fear of failure.

I was just going to say that same thing lol. We have a decent stable of talent at RB and with injuries /guys leaving etc.,  even someone like Bradley might emerge as the guy . We don’t know . Not many were counting on Ameer , Ozigbo, Helu, Rex etc to be as good as they were either, they proved themselves in practice and games . It’s fun to share opinions but it’s far to early to be saying this will happen,  or this won’t,  IMO.

I had a caveat that stated this.

Having more in game plays doesn’t mean you’re in better football shape. Zach Duval and Husker Power > whatever Mills got at a juco. I would bet $ Mazour is in better football shape than Mills.

That said I think Mills will be ahead of him.

No, the GCCC Strength Coach is probably not as good as Duval.

And the same gap between GCCC Strength Staff & Duval is likely the same between the talent of Mazour and Mills.

You're acting as though I'm saying Mazour will be up for the Heisman. I'm merely stating I think he will get reps early in the season based on the reps he will get in spring and his position on the depth chart at the end of last year. Also, if your saying Mazour doesn't have the production, averaging 6.9 ypc isn't too shabby - but I digress.

Perhaps you should watch the hudl films of both (with double screens) if you are trying to say Washington and Mazour have the same running style/body.

Also, did you really just try to compare the films of a HS senior to that of a Junior College RB? Come on man, I can't do this with you today. LOL.

Perhaps you should re-read my full post. I clearly think Mills will be a better running back than Mazour in the long run. I'm just not convinced that Mills will come to fall camp in-shape and in a position to know the playbook well enough to overtake reps from Mazour in game 1. That is all.

In shape?  Mills played way more football than Mazour last year.

    Mazour: 11 Carries 76 yards

    Mills:  236 Carries 1358 yards

I dont think you think he will be Heisman at all. You said he would be a #2 would be tough to unseat.  I am stating that assumption is false.

Also, its Running Backs bro...run left...run right.  Some of the plays never hit where they are deisnged to go.  While Mills can probably catch, I dont see him as a huge threat in the pass gate out of the gate.

I think we are done here.

LOL all you want - but Mazour was getting touches as the 3rd back last year (albeit in mop up time). Mazour will go through spring getting the 2nd touches. I think Mills will be a stud for us, I just think it will be tough for him (Mills) to come in and take reps from Mazour from the get-go when hes not here in spring, especially considering they have similar running styles. Now if Mills was here in spring I think its a different story.

Oh... Dear... Lord....Did you just say that Mazour and Mills have similar running styles?  I cant do this with you today! LOL.  Im not sure Wyatt Mazour even has a hudl account.   Just checked...OK he does. I hope you have double screens.  Open both videos...watch simultaneously and if you dont laugh at what you said above, you are not being honest with yourself. Derick Mills is stiff arming kids to the ground....in GA.

Spring reps DONT matter.  How many spring reps did Washington have last year?  I think he showed up like 3 days before the opening game and played his first game barefoot because they didnt have his size yet.  You think we was worried about Wyatt Mazour?  STOP!

I'll have to see it to believe it, but I hope you're right on this.... Keep in mind, if Ozigbo was given the reigns to begin the year, he could of ran for 1,400-1,500 yards last season.

He is a better talent, how the staff develops him remains to be seen.

It seems you're going under the assumption that Mills is going to be just as good as Ozigbo out of the gate, and that Washington won't improve any from year 1 to year 2.... I don't think it's safe to assume either of those things.

Its February, we are talking about September...assumptions is what the husker board is built on.  LOL

I think Washington will get bigger and stronger and faster, I still dont think it will change how they use him.  He is a incredible talent, but so is Mills. He isnt as good as Ozigbo, he is better.   Yes he could be another Greg Bell, but I also doubt that.

Washington will be the starter. Mazour will get 2nd team reps at the beginning (as he will be more familiar with the offense and fulfills the between the tackle RB role) but Mills will overtake Mazour's reps as the season goes on. Mazour was essentially 2nd team last year as Zig and Washington split reps with the 1s and Mazour was out with the 2nd team when mop up time came. The coaching staff likes Mazour's leadership and work ethic and will be tough for Mills to unseat as the backup as Mills is learning the offense in fall camp.

I agree with you that touches will be split up among many players and positions.

Leadership and work ethic are great, but production/ talent is a different ball game.  Wyatt Mazour had 11 carries for 76 yards last year.  He can be a leader in the weight room and on the practice field.  That doesnt always equal production, no matter how bad you want it to.  With that said, I think he gets some spot runs, but let be clear....he has no seat.  He is a 3rd option ar running back at best.   Now if there are couple of injuries, I could see him getting a few carries.    There is no first and second team at RB, you are either getting touches or you arent.  You cant call him a second string running back.  LOL.  I think he is a viable option due to injury, but with all the new talent coming in, there may not be a spot for him on the field.
