    Then who is 1A?

Maurice is going to get the most amount of touches from all the RB's.  Frost wants the big-play ability and versatility, and Washington brings that to the offense.

I think MIlls is probably your 1A, IF he keeps his nose clean.  He is your down hill inside power guy.  Washington can do some of that, but his runs will be different.

What do you mean by "Where is Washington gonna be"?  Maurice is the clear #1 at RB.

Ummm I dont think so, I think he is more like a 1B.  I think you see him playing in the same role he was in last year, but with 5-8 more touches.

  3. Maybe I should change this topic to the RB Depth Chart now...Ha ha.

I think that moving forward you wont see 1 guy get the lion share of carries.  As the depth forms, you will see this staff use the kids according to their strengths.  Thats what good leadership does.  Also, with this offense you cannot really think in terms of carries as much as touches.  Yes, there will be a guy who leads in carries, but I think the idea is to have 2 or 3 guys who can run the rock.

Based on the depth chart and playing time at the end of last season, I think Mazour will be the backup at the beginning of the season and Mills will get more and more carries as the backup as the season goes on.

Also Mazour as a back up? Where is Washington gonna be? Bradley? Johnson? I think it will be amazing if he makes it as a 3rd option.  That stable is filling up, gonna be a tough room again.

Not if they stay healthy it's not.  What 3 teams stand in the way of 10 wins?  Trending down Wisconsin?  Urban Meyerless Ohio State in Lincoln?  About to be put back in their place Iowa?

Ohio State was Ohio State before Urban Meyer and they will be Ohio State after as well. We won 4 games last year, we have no business looking down our noses at anyone. Its an uphill battle for us. Thing is, we have the staff to do it.

So because bell was a failure we should scrap the juco process?  Many schools (including bama) recruit juco players.  If a highly rated recruits a bust should we stop recruiting highly rated recruits too?

    Ha ha. Nailed it.

The coach was still there for their championship game.

I don't know much about Juco ball but it sure wasn't a game that indicated he could do anything at the P5 level.

And I don't really care if a guy smoke pot or not but it can be indicative of some undesirable traits. Commitment, focus, self control, to name a few, especially with a guy who apparently is struggling with grades and is at a lower level trying to make it to a higher level. He can smoke all the pot he wants, but it don't look good on his resume imo.  I hope he isn't all that important to this class because there are a lot of unanswered questions.

His grades would be a stronger indicator than his use of marijuana.  No one puts "pot smoker" on their resume. Sounds more like he has some things to clean up rather than "unanswered questions".  He would be a huge addition to the team.  Probably why the staff hasnt written him off yet.

I’ll repeat what I said before, Nebraska is always ranked #1 in recruiting in the West, even though we don’t win the West. Why aren’t our recruiting rankings dropped and Wisconsin’s or Iowa’s raised above us?

Its still just recruiting, player development has been extremely poor here in the last 8-12 years. I would also say that as badly as Wisky and Iowa want to be bluebloods they just arent.  We are.

Teams make their biggest jump in year 2, we saw that already happening this year after the worst start ever.  Our Freshmen QB played like a Heisman candidate.  Our 1,000 yard rusher was basically an afterthought under the previous regime and he was heavily criticized on here by many smart posters, our 1,000 yard receiver wasn't the only uber talented player to catch balls, and replacing starters on the O Line isn't exactly the worst thing in the world perhaps.

This is a 10 win team in 2019.  There is zero reason to not see this team going up big in year 2 compared to Riley's smoke and mirror Year 2.

10 wins is a bit much.

  9. You can compete for national titles without top 5 classes.  Its the age old question of what came first, the chicken or the egg.  Offers from certain schools will make a players rating go up.  10 years ago, no one cared about who Clemson was recruiting and they were 36th in the nation (although they did snag Tajh Boyd that year), and now they are 5th i the nation. As this staff proves that it evaluates talent well, you will see an increase in our ratings. We will still be bringing in the exact same type of player, but because of clout and prestige, we will get hire rankings.  Yes, its dumb.

IDK, he just didn't stand out like I would expect the #1 Juco RB to stand out. To be fair, his offensive line seemed to be severely overmatched against East Mississippi, so I can't hold him fully accountable. I probably went into it expecting too much which may be tainting my impression. But, imo, he didn't look big enough and it just struck me as surprising that he was the #1 Juco. And they leaned heavily on the running game because his QB couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. They mentioned something to the effect, on a pass play in the 3rd quarter, that it was only his 20th attempt (or completion) all year. I guess I got the immediate impression that if they run the ball 98% of time, of course their featured back may have some gawdy numbers. Like I said I probably shouldn't have chimed in because I don't know much about him or that level of play, but I was pretty disappointed.

BTW, I'm glad somebody finds it funny that I wasn't impressed with him in their natl championship game. I hope I don't know what I'm talking about if he's headed our way.

Its JUCO ball, half the time those guys arent even on the same page.  Plus, didnt their head coach leave?

    This really sucks

He de-committed from UCF to come to Lincoln, I would have never guessed that he would leave.  With that said, it doesnt suck.  Just another opportunity to go get another player.

  12. you cant "block a man" the option, you block a zone.

    This is an incorrect observation.

He is in a zone blocking scheme, thats why his eyes never go out there.  If he tries to reach block a player who is essentially 2.5 yards out side, it will create a window for the LB to run through and disrupt the option at the mesh. This would have caused the option to string out to the side line, which is exactly what the defense wants.  The end rusher knifing in makes the edge shorter, the QB just has to make a quick read.   In hindsight, the QB should have handed off  as they had numbers to the field side.

I think we have some confusion: my initial thought is that Jaimes is supposed to block the DE that Foster ends up blocking, and that A-Mart's read on the mesh is the corner that crashes. That's what causes Martinez to keep. Had Jaimes blocked him, it allows Foster to reach to the MLB that eventually makes the tackle.

With flow away, foster never makes it to the mike.  Some where in the scheme, the T or G missed and assignment though.  Hard to know what rules they are playing.

I feel like Jaimes screws this up. I think the CB that's cheating towards the line is the initial read, and then the linebacker that he tries to block is who should be pitched off of?

Shea Peterson has a 171.19 passing effeciency, he puts the ball right where it needs to be. Our secondary is going to have to cover better than they have so far. The rest of their offense is average. Our d line should have some chances, Michigan has given up 11 sacks in 3 games. They also are penalty prone, like us.

Noon start is their bread and butter, Lloyd Carr used it snivel about any other starting time. I'll be in Row 714 in the sliver of red at the Big house.

I'm not sure if it's more concerning Nebraska is off to its worst start in 61 years or so many people don't care Nebraska is off to its worst start in 61 years.

This is the "New" Nebraska fan.  Its starting to be really annoying.

What happened 61 years ago will not determine what happens this year.

    Some positives:

    1. That happened with our backup quarterback. Martinez looked like a stud game one and he'll be back.

    2. It looked like a breakdown from everywhere. That won't happen most games.

    3. We are undefeated in conference play.

    4. LSU lost at home to Troy last year and went on to beat ranked opponents and look really good year two.

    Just trying to be positive

Adrian Martinez had an INT and a fumble lost if I remember correctly.

  17. How should the Blackshirts be distributed throughout the season?

Do you have to play a perfect game?

Can you lose them if the defense plays poorly as a whole?

In my opinion, I like how the staff is handling it. If you get them, you have to earn them every week.  If we give up 40 points, everyone should lose em.  Hopefully guys would give them back to show that they dont deserve them when that stuff happens.

    What are your thoughts?
