  1. I think most of us agree that Tommy Frazier was the best QB to play for Nebraska

I hope this puts things into perspective. Its a team sport. I don't think Tommy Frazier would have excelled in this current offense

Obviously Frazier is Nebraska's greatest quarterback but do you think comparing Frazier's Senior season (those are his Senior year stats you posted) against Martinez's Freshman year is even close to being fair? Maybe I missed what you were trying to point out but two entirely different teams also from a talent standpoint. Tommy had a pipeline in front of him for one and Taylor isn't even meant to be a quarterback most likely for another. Anyway, maybe I missed your point.

My point was that people need to stop using Martinez as the fall guy. Blaming him for the offensive self destruction. Hes not a bad quarterback. Yea he made some stupid mistakes. Freshman mistakes. Tommy had a "PIPELINE" what happens when a healthy Martinez has a pipeline. Yes posting Tmart FR. stats to Tommys SR stats isn't fair. It isn't fair to Martinez who was plague by injures. Freshman vs Senior stats aren't fair in general.

I just don't think people should turn there back on Martinez just yet. He is a freshman putting up numbers like this. Just think of what a couple years could produce. He ain't a bad passer he just needs to work on his pocket presence. He needs to learn how to read defense better.

  4. You guys need to watch the high lights a little better. Our Oline is jacked up. No QB will look good without a good Oline. I mean stop blaming the guy for the offensive woes. We lack great recievers, we have a crappy coached Oline. An OC who doesn't make adjustments. Not a lot options when your a qb in the pocket. I think after Tmart tore up the field earlier in the season everyone held him to high expections. The 20 year old freshmen quarterback got banged up. Both physically and mentally. Now 80% of husker fans are calling for his head well at least it seems that way. He made some mistakes I give you that. But what starter hasn't. I would like to see him behind center next season. Tearing up the field again. These rumors are affecting the team IMO. The team is becoming a reflection of the fans.

  5. Dude, your expectations are way to high. How many coaches that have NC under there belt did it within 3 years of becoming head coach. Bo Palini isn't a wizard. It takes time. Yes this season was a let down but we won 10 games. Be patient.

I completely agree that changes need to be made on the offensive staff. That does fall on Bo's sholders. There are also a lot of politics involved. I hope Bo makes the right call.

  6. One sentence: Zac Lee should have been the starting quarterback this season.

Which was a lot harder to say when Taylor was murderating K-State and Washington.

    ...and Oklahoma State.

However, I don't think Zac Lee plays the LT spot very well, so don't now how anybody would have helped that much. He probably gets rid of the ball more often, but we lose the first downs created by Taylor's legs. I say it was probably a wash between the two.

He's just a bit undersized to play left tackle.

Once Martinez got dinged, his play went out the window. At that point is when Lee should have been moved to starter. Failing to make that move is just another example of Pelini's need to grow and learn.

Yea but didn't lee get hurt around that same time

  7. Ah Mangino? We already have the Palini brothers (hot heads) I don't think we need anymore. At the sametime the O needs to be yelled at and fired up. Mangino is just a health risk though. He has to hold the title of the most obese coach.

  8. Yea its a college football forum probably the last place your gunna find perfect spelling and grammar. I mean as long as you can read and understand it. There isn't a problem. I find the problem is when people point out a mis spelt word becuz it turns the thread into a long argument that has nothen to do with the topic. I guess I am only feeding it. But hell I can't help it.

(I don't have spell check on my phone)

  9. An Oline to rival the 95 cornhuskers.

And Motivation the players just didn't want it enough. The mental game ain't there. Washington showed up to WIN Nebraska just showed up to play. This season just leaves a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. See I'm only 22 I was young the last time NE won a NC. So most of my experience with the cornhuskers are of them always falling short. How long do I have to wait to see are beloved huskers get NC again. New decade, New conference, now we need a new offense. The defense doesn't always play perfect games but they are Damn good. If only are offense match are defense. We need a new O staff the current one isn't getting the job done. We have no identity on offense. The Zone read doesn't play to every players strength. The team just lost it motivation. Made to many mistakes. As far as Tmart goes I think there is something there He just needs to be coached up. I mean when he plays good he plays like a champion. He needs some coaching to develop. I mean earlier in the season when he was on fire breaking records. The thing that went through my mind was Damn he's gunna be a great qb in a couple of seasons. I never thought he was going to be a complete QB this season. This season was a let down.0:01 finsh thats one thing they failed to do.

  10. Yes, I support Taylor Martinez. I am not an apologist. I think he has "athleticism" that we have NOT SEEN at the QB here since Tommie. No, he is not Tommie Frazier, but he does have some of his "make up"..

    1. Tommie was cocky...so WAS Taylor, until the injury killed his confidence

    2. Tommie was NOT popular among teammates....neither is Taylor

    3. Tommie was not a polished passer...ever....Tayor is not "yet"

** Okay, before everyone bashes me for even bringing the names up in the same breath, I know that Tommie WON GAMES AND NC.... and Taylor hasn't !!!! That is not my point.

I am just saying that some of the descriptors using to "bash" T-Mart are the same qualities that Tommie had...

*** When healthy, he was dynamic, even threw the ball well against OSU and MU...

Last night, I was AS PISSED AS ANYONE ON THIS BOARD... but I also, at times , felt that our best offensive play was when Taylor scrambled and tried to make things happen. He was TRYING to make plays. I know he caught a lot of crap for his two attempted shovel passes, but he was trying to make something happen. On the first, I admit, don't understand trying to throw it away on 3rd down, but the second one gave him the ONLY chance to get the ball to Helu. The defender just made a play. Heck, if he would have gotten the ball to Helu, it would have been a great play.

He was given ZERO chance to succeed last night, by Watson. 1st down run vs 8 in box...2nd down hand-off vs 8 in box and 3rd down pass when OL gets blown up...

He has a LONG, LONG way to go before he can lead us to a title, but I will not jump on the "let him transfer" wagon. He needs to grow up and mature into a leader.

Hopefully he learned from this year and will build on it.. He needs to mend fences with teammates and fix some off the so-called "daddy" problems that are circulating.

** So, I do NOT say he is perfect, but I am not going to push all of the blame on him. I am positive that if Turner-Carnes or any other "message board hero" that hasn't taken a snap yet, will struggle during their first year as a starter in the Big 10......especially if they are inured and have an idiot calling plays.

    Go ahead, blast away.

Yea but Tommy had a Oline that didn't give up sacks. To think if we had an Oline like that now. Are offense would bull dose over teams. Everyone would be singing praise of T-Magic.

  11. This thread is ignorant. Anybody who know anything about college football knows it takes longer then 3years for a coach to build a NC football team. It took osbourne over a decade. I do think there needs to be some changes to the offensive staff.

  12. How about our defensive coordinator Carl grows a brain? same with the defensive linemen

Locker scrambled all night long... drop back a person from the defensive line to contain the scrambles...

Dennard and Amukamara play so good defensively that it covers up for the nebraska defense. Last night we were exposed. Nobody could stop the washington's run game. Polk gained like 7 yards a run. Defensive tackles and ends need to step it up. Suh isn't here to babysit you anymore

Dline was just slow as hell. I mean they got threw the blockers but they wernt fast enough to catch locker. He would just run around them. So that left dennard to pick up the tackle.

  13. I really didn't see anything other than the dumb underhand tosses to get rid of the ball that was that bad last night. He's a better passer than Green. The OL might as well have laid down each time the ball was snapped. Maybe they could have at least tripped one of the three defenders rushing. His ball security has been poor this year, but then again just about everyone that touched the ball for Nebraska this year had ball security problems. Give him even an adequate OL, and we should be fine next year.

You were not watching the same game that I was. Wasn't it interesting that the OL blocked better for CG than TM? Could it be that CG can slide the protection and make better pre-snap reads than TM? Yes. To say TM is a better passer than CG is a stretch.

Didn't Cody green get sacked to? And if it wasn't for the Oline holding he would of got hit in the end zone but insted they were called on it resulting in a penalty and a safety. Cody was lobbin the ball around. His passes wernt that great. It basically a argument of who sucked the worse. Yea Tmart had a poor performance. So did a lot of other players. If you look at Washington Jake locker didn't complete a pass in the first half. But they still found a way to put points up. The team played horrible. I think a lot of the offensive problems.(ball security, Oline blocking, catching, penaltys, and passing) so basically the fundamentals of an offense. So I ask from when we beat the crap out of Washington and now. What changed?

  14. How's his dad act in the stands?

By getting in the face of another coaches son (adult aged), when said coaches son commented that Taylor made a bad read and even worse throw on his interception according to someone at the game. Plus the phone call incident, and the Texas game where he and Taylor were chatting as the final seconds ticked off.

(First part) Ha wow sounds like him and Palini have a lot in common. Hey the guy is pashionate about his sons playing. I don't have a problem with it. He ain't a coach and doesn't represent NU. There's husker fans that do that. Its college football. Just as long as it doesn't end up in a full blown fist fight. Its not a problem to me.

  15. I remember a little while ago some guy who was a husker fan but went to school at Washington. Posted a thread asking for husker fan to respect Washington. Well not many showed him respect. Now that was some bad Karma.
