  1. A big guy with a torn ACL and being cleared to play in 6-7 months? Also I'm guessing that his his Juco probably doesn't have the greatest rehab facilities. Seems really optimistic to me.

I'm guessing most rehab occurs with a PT.

  2.

    Just a little calculation.

After he commits, we should be at #17 in the team rankings on 247.

We will have 7 commits with an average rating of .8853. That is good for second in the Big Ten just ahead of Michigan.

Avery will be the second highest rated recruit in the class so far.

Tomorrow well might be a very good day in Husker recruiting.

I may be mistaken but I believe they would actually be 3rd behind PSU and OSU.

I think maybe he's talking about average player rating, not actual class ranking

Yes, that's what I'm looking at. The actual class rankings is influenced by number of recruits which can be skewed. I just wanted to look at the quality of recruits we have.

FYI...if you are just looking at normal class rankings, after his commit we will be 5th in the Big Ten.

Yep, I am aware of what BRB was referring to...

    1. OSU = .9410

    2. PSU = .8870

    3. DONU = .8853

LOMS make a better one for this kid

Ya so we can judge your work

Just because you do this for a living doesn't mean that the person who made it does too. Who knows maybe he's just starting up or doing it as a hobby. We all have to start somewhere

i don't think your edit was that bad..

  5. I agree. Roberts. Although wouldn't be surprised to see any of the following guys commit before Roberts: Calvin, Hawkins, R. Johnson.

You think Haekins is in a position to commit? My understanding is that he's likely a plan B

  6. http://247sports.com/Article/247Rating-Explanation-81574

In other words, the #1 rated prospect for each service gets a rating of 1.0000, and each spot below that is 0.0004 lower. A player's composite rating is an average of those rankings from all the services that have rated him. The 39th ranked player gets a rating of 0.9848, and since 247 is the only one with ratings, that's his composite rating for the time being.

Thanks for dropping some knowledge. Much appreciated!

  7. While we may not be able to officially compute Austin this way, I guess we all should assign a star rating to him so we can figure him in the overall average for class ranking, etc. I give him 4.5 stars (I think he is a 5 star player but as I have not seen some real track speed or other official measurements, I will discount him by half a star. I think he will be a Husker legend before he finishes his career. He can easily add about 20 to 25 lbs and presumably retain his mobility and speed and become a dominant blocker as well as a match up nightmare with his height. Throw the ball high over the middle and he will fall forward for two extra yards IF the unfortnate defender assigned to cover him can make the tackle. Even two guys will not stop him from dragging a couple extra yards. He ought to be able to seal off the outside to enable Wilbon, Bryant, Zigbo and Newby to turn the corner.

  8. I'm curious why people seem pretty sure he'll commit here and not PSU. Not saying that I think he's leaning towards them right now, but the fact that he's visited PSU twice in the last couple months including the spring game) makes me think this next visit might sway him their way.

Because people who have spoken with him have gotten the impression that he is N. Granted, he's speaking with people who work for DONU crootin services. He seems to take a different tone when discussing Nebraska.

  9.

That will probably get deleted, but wow.

Makes me feel like he is picking Nebraska after reading that. Did the Nebraska writer do that article or was it a National guy? If it was National, he is N.

so nobody is going to say what was posted here?

    Has best relationship with DONU.

Baltimore to Omaha right now is sitting at around $680 round trip leaving on the 15th and getting back on the 17th. (Southwest direct flight)

    Dang...that is kind of expensive.

I hope this kid can make it for the spring game...If I was a recruit I would be impressed with how our spring game has become an event.

Thing is, if he really was serious about coming, he could have purchased cheaper tickets a month or two ago.

Yeah, that is true. I did not really think about that. Probably could have saved a couple hundred.

Are you thinking he is not serious about coming?

I have absolutely no information one way or the other. Just offering information on how expensive it would be to get here if he is just now looking into it.
    Why?

Maybe because the post right above mine was wondering if there were any direct flights and if they were pricey??? :dunno:dunno

And, this is a message board and that's how discussions here work???

    Zing!

Normally BRB and myself would be posting this stuff on the SouthwestAirline board that we belong to but we thought it would be okay here.

Hahah.. Sorry BRB, I was using the facilities at work and I blame the stink left by others as cause of my confusion. For the record, I don't think Avery is coming to the spring game, whether it be due to financial issues or whatever, but think Nebraska is still very much in this despite him visiting Penn State on the 16th.
