  1. Stanley Morgan was a much more refined receiver entering his freshman season than Simmons will be. Simmons has a ton of upside I know. I don't know that he would have cracked the 2 deep here next year had he committed. Wish he was going to be here but he's not the only 6'3" fish in the sea.

We currently do not have a WR on the roster like Simmons and I think he would have played right away, despite the depth at that position. This stings more than Fitz, imo. Fitz is similar to what we have on the roster and what we'll bring in next year. Wish him the best though.

I get the feeling from Darnay that we're his second favorite school after Stanford.

He's clearly interested in what Nebraska has to offer. Hopefully playing in front of the most passionate fans in CFB wins out and we can land one of the highest ranked recruits we've ever had.

What makes you think second after Stanford? I realize it's a tweet but he has said Nebraska is home.

He called Stanford his dream offer. By all accounts, his visit there went extremely well. I have no direct inside sources, but Stanford seems to be the team to beat.

Clouse believes he is leaving the state.

I still think the coaches should get in this kids ear about the UL WR coach leaving, especially if Dez didn't know it was coming.

Maybe another reason why people talking badly about 18 year old kid here and on Twitter should chill out a little.

The smack talking goes overboard, that much is for sure. But the bridge has been burnt, his Dad doesn't want him here now.

Not sure if he ever did.

I must have missed that. Was there something recent with dad? or just the sneaky last Louisville visit?

Go back a page. Dad tweeted he was glad he wasn't coming here. Had some nasty jaded Husker fans say some BS t9 him via Twitter.

And, I read somewhere that dad had something to do with him scheduling his visit this weekend to Louisville.

Considering that his Dad's facebook timeline has multiple Lousiville references since early last year, and none on Nebraska, I'm not surprised.

Probably because his son was committed to UL for most of '15 and never to Nebraska (publically)

Staff offered Englehaupt tonight because they found out one of the guys isn't committing tomorrow... If we go 1/4 on Chase Allen, Dez Fitzpatrick, Lamar Jackson, and Isaiah Simmons then I would call that a lack of closing and a problem getting the job done.

    I would agree.

I suppose you want the coaches fired
Not at all. I'm a reasonable guy. But I'm a realistic guy, like how it's looking like we'll end the cycle is disappointing. But when I said that two weeks ago I was told to wait till signing day. So I'll continue to wait and hope for the best.

I am little frustrated by Dez, but figured we were 50/50 on Simmons. This is there first full year and believe this is a much better class then in the past. Too many think its the end of the world.
I guess I'd disagree with it being better than in the past, it's pretty right on par. It's not the end of the world at all, but it's not necessarily what we needed. I'm pretty optimistic for next year's class and do really like some of the pieces we grabbed this year.

I am looking at average player rating, not class rating as 30+ of Bo's classes never made it past a year.
There are 19 commits, so naturally, the average player rating will be higher. Don't kid yourself, this staff gets very similar results on the recruiting trail as the last.

I think it's premature to be comparing HCMR first full recruiting class to Bo's six

Will we be mad at him for breaking his commitment this close to signing day?

Unless he made Wyoming cancel other official visitor options and then left after the school had the opportunity to bring in another TE visitor than no

Dont kid yourself, the reaction would have been the same regardless of if Lipscomb visited or not

The first Wednesday in February -- Signing Day invariably gets under the skin of certain college football curmudgeons. They cant stand all the doting over 17-year-olds with overinflated egos. They hate the hat ceremonies. Theyre probably furious that LSU this year plans to put up billboards in their honor.

    Thats their prerogative.

But what annoys me to no end is the annual lazy narrative that the recruiting rankings at the center of Signing Day are meaningless. A favorite trick is to hold up someone like Houston Texansstar J.J. Watt (former two-star recruit) or 2014 Heisman winner Marcus Mariota (three stars) as an indictment of the entire system. Or a school like Boise State thats won at a high level or without a host of blue-chippers. Or Texas, which has essentially done the opposite.

But what these critics hold up as evidence, anyone with a basic understanding of statistics calls outliers.

To the recruiting analysts credit, the rankings of both the recruits youll see sign Wednesday and the classes that schools assemble are highly accurate predictors of future success. That is, unless youre holding the evaluators to some impossible standard where they should never miss on a single prospect. If thats the case, former sixth-round pick Tom Brady is an indictment of the entire NFL draft process, and Vegas oddsmakers should never be taken seriously because sometimes the underdogs beat the favorites.

To truly understand why you should in fact play close attention to Wednesdays results, you need to look at the bigger picture. Below, Ive assembled some data that debunks the most common myths about recruiting.

They expanded on this more in their most recent podcast. Basically, the numbers say you have to recruit at a top ten level, or you won't win a national championship. Recruit at a top 20 level, or you'll be hard pressed to win a conference championship.

It would appear that FLU has hacked Saunders account.. Jk.

  7.

Him and the crew will be visiting in March during spring practice. KJS said his son will be making a decision next month.....

That definitely favors us if he's deciding this early. He's visited here twice (to be three). Can't recall him going anywhere else that often. Said that same about some others though in the 2016 class.

I believe he's been here more than that... Like 6-7 times

Said the WR coach leaving wouldn't change his commitment.

Wonder if they told him it was happening and who the new coach would be?

I know I wouldn't want to sign up at a place not knowing who my position coach would be.

I heard they are going to hire his Dad as their next WR coach.
That's the word. Can't do much about that.

Seriously? I thought you guys were joking

  9.

Seems odd. Did predictors find out IA State is giving him a new car or something?

I honestly can't fathom a person choosing Iowa State over Nebraska for anything other than a few reason:

Lives near Ames.... that's about it.

His Dad has ties to the university so that is another consideration.

With Chase's athleticism and size, I really want him to pick DONU, but probably not as much as I'd rather see him pick someone else other than Michigan.
