Yes.
say you rally the troops and play US in the CCG and we win and go on the the NC game... do we have YOUR support?
Nebraska would have more support than they could handle. ESPECIALLY if you get there against an SEC team. Expect the whole nine yards.
-
Let's suppose that by some miracle the Ohio State team manages to rally the troops due to the program "turmoil" that's been going on and we somehow make it through the season undefeated, do the Buckeyes have the support of the rest of the Huskers and the Big Ten behind them to bring a NC home to the B1G?

You're part of the Big Ten now. Expect random groin shots for ESPiN from here on out.
This should explain everything
Juuust a teaser of what's in the article and of course Nebraska is mentioned
"The shortest one I ever had," Delany told the Tribune. "He lowballed us and said: 'Take it or leave it. If you don't take our offer, you are rolling the dice.' I said: 'Consider them rolled.' "Delany had warned ESPN officials that without a significant rights-fee increase, he would try to launch a new channel that would pose competition both for TV viewers and the Big Ten's inventory of games: the Big Ten Network.
"He threw his weight around," Shapiro said in a telephone interview, "and said, 'I'm going to get my big (rights-fee) increase and start my own network.' Had ESPN stepped up and paid BCS-type dollars, I think we could have prevented the network. In retrospect, that might have been the right thing to do. Jim is making a nice penny on that."
Said Delany: "If Mark had presented a fair offer, we would have signed it. And there would not be a Big Ten Network."
The BTN, profitable in its second year, doled out about $7 million to each Big Ten school in 2009-10. Without that chunk of a $22 million per school TV revenue distribution pie, the conference might not have had schools such as Nebraska thirsting for an invitation.

It could give us some ideas though. When it comes to intimidation, stadium noise and chants then we kinda suck st that
Penn State - loud.....really loud.
Wisconsin - loud.....really loud.
Ohio State - If you're good, loud.....really loud.
Everyone else. I wouldn't worry too much.
Yes, the roar from the stadium against USC and Miami was probably the loudest the stadium has ever been. It's unfortunately that you never get a full grasp of that on tv with how poorly done the sound is picked up from the stadium

Just as an FYI, those are NOT Doug Worthington's gold pants. He apparently was livid when he heard of this and has come out with pictures showing all of his pairs.

If this is a night game, set your DVR's, Tivo's, VHS cassette tapes, we'll be in for one hell of a night and personally I plan on massively enjoying what may be a huge defensive battle if this is really a night game.

Erm, I may be a bit off base here and I hope I don't offend anyone here but this is the dumbest excuse I've heard in awhile. The spring game is more or less a glorified scrimmage. I highly doubt most teams are going to run their "secret plays" on tv and may just be focusing on the execution of their more basic plays and coaching up the younger guys. I get what Osbourne is saying but he's pretty much passing up an opportunity for more program exposure for not only the fans but the rest of the new conference members as well. I for sure was going to tune in to see you guys in action for the first time but unfortunately looks like that won't happen.
Not to mention I'm pretty sure Husker Nation is large enough that the 70k potential tickets sold will have little to NO impact on the tv draw from Husker fans all over the nation. Even moreso the attention from the rest of the B1G would have been on this game too.
But this is solely my opinion and I hope you guys see where I'm coming from. No disrespect though.

What game are you Huskers looking forward to most next year (regular season-wise)?
-
Everyone always claims that the Big 10 is slow. Then some kid from Wisconsin chases down one of the fastest runningbacks ever out of Arkansas from behind and it shuts people up for awhile. Then we get back to "the big ten is slow." The big ten has athletes on par with the Big 12. To think so would be your downfall.
Do any teams in the Big10 use any hybrid type linebackers/Peso backs? That is one area where Nebraska might have an advantage in terms of speed. It's not that Big10 teams do not have their share of speed at the skill positions. They do. We just do not use the 250 pound linebacker anymore.
Ohio State has the "Star" Position which is basically a safety/linebacker hybrid. Brings incredible ballhawking skills and powerful hits to separate the ball from the intended receiver or bring down the big back. They will play all over the field so they have to be the most versatile and fearless player.

How's everyone's final four looking? I'm down to two now.
-
I believe this is what you are looking for
NebraskaSpring Practice Begins: March 12
Game: April 16
The early spring buzz ... Welcome to the new league. The Huskers are expected to step in to their new league and challenge for the Big Ten title right away. The team is undergoing some major internal changes with a few big coaching hires that will be under the microscope all offseason. The big move was at offensive coordinator where Tim Beck comes in for Shawn Watson, and the plan is to run a version of the spread and to attack even more. Head coach Bo Pelini is looking for more explosion, and Beck plans to provide it. With a few other coaching changes, things are being shaken up even though the team didn’t exactly have a bad 2010.
The big spring question is ... Can the defense start getting into the backfield more? The 2009 defense, led by Ndamukong Suh, finished second in the nation in sacks, 28th in tackles for loss, and ninth against the run. The Huskers also closed out the year No. 1 in the nation in scoring defense. Last year, Nebraska was 45th in the nation in sacks, a pathetic 112th in tackles for loss, and 63rd against the run. Overall, the defense wasn’t bad, but Nebraska under Bo Pelini isn’t doing what it’s supposed to unless it’s blowing up offenses by camping out in backfields. Pierre Allen is gone, but everyone else on the two-deep defensive line returns.
The most important position to watch is ... Quarterback. Taylor Martinez, Taylor Martinez, Taylor Martinez. One of college football’s breakout stars over the first half of last year, his toughness was question and injuries became a power. The job is open for battle with passing option Cody Green looking to show a bit more in the new offensive system, and newcomer Jamal Turner is reportedly worth the hype and more. The passing game was 113th in the nation averaging just 151 yards per game, and the coaching staff is looking to change that immediately.
Spring attitude... Get ready to be everyone’s big game. Nebraska is used to be in the spotlight, but it’ll be a bit different now as every game in the Big Ten will be magnified. It all starts on October 1st at Wisconsin, and it doesn’t slow down from there with Ohio State coming up the following week and with dates at Penn State, Michigan, and Iowa in November. Give Bo Pelini credit; he’s not taking it easy. 10-4 with a Big 12 North title would be phenomenal at most places, but losing three of the final four games didn’t sit well and the attitude, evidenced by several assistant coaching changes, is that nothing less than greatness will do.

This guy at the head coach spot on VCU seems like a pretty up and coming kind of guy, what about your chances with him?
-
Pearl is that awkward STD that the pretty girl across the room has. You think you want to hook up with her but you realize that you may need to get treatment afterwards so it's not worth the embarrasment
-
Yes, but they still pale in comparison to the asshattery displayed by Texas Tech, Baylor, or Texas fans. A&M fans, save for this season, were good to be around for games.
BAYLOR! You've had trouble with Baylor fans?!?!?! I don't know if I can honestly say that I have met one arrogant/rude Baylor football fan ever.
Kind of hard to meet one when they don't show up for their own games:
LOL!! You won't find that here in the B1G unless it's the Penn State student section in the 4th quarter or a Gopher home game in the second half of the season
-
Any chance now that you're in a better conference that expectations may rise and there's a sudden push to get Sadler out and a more "competent" guy in there that might light a fire under your players rear ends and bring in some better kids?
-
When does Nebraska actually get a full slice of the pie from the B1G? It's a couple years after being fully integrated into the conference right?
-
That Superbuckfan is probably laughing his ass off right now. I don't blame him
To be honest, I didn't get to watch the game. I just saw the final score and my only question is; What happened?
Hopefully with your move to the B1G will turn things around.
-
If Nebraska were to play each team in the Big Ten right now, who would they win against and how close of a game would it be?
-
B1G looks out for it's own. We strive to be the best and the only way to do that is to share the wealth.
Welcome home boys and girls

I think the move to the big 10 should have occurred as soon as the big 12 was formed. Nebraska just fits into the big 10.
The benefits are huge both in sports and academics. Also, as previously mentioned, the big 10 network will only aid in recruiting. (Especially in BBall and Football)
add in the natural rivalry with Iowa and the past history with Iowa State, Kansas/K State and it places NU in a very high profile position. The media will watch as much as the fans do. Nationally, there will be a split on those who want NU to have success and those who will rejoice with every loss. This, if played right by the coaches, is a very strong recruitment tool. (Tell/show the recruits the media and exploit the haters. Come here and you'll be seen by everyone. More television, more high profile games etc. Exploit it much like the hated Yankee's have for years.)
Do I expect to see immediate success? No, I expect the weight of leaving old traditions to creating new traditions wearing heavily on the youth who play the sport but in time (3-4 years), I think many fans in Big 10 (especially OSU, Michigan, PSU) realizing that NU is more then talk. Our athletic program, fan base and alumni are proud. We support our University with a vigor that few institutions can match and we (the fans) do truly consider ourselves a intricate component of the athletic program. When our boys/girls step on the field of play we (the state, the fans, alumni) step on that same field with them.
Additionally, Nebraska has long been considered one of the top venues in "all sports" mostly as a result of their hospitality and respect of others. The Big 10 universities embrace and mirror this as well. Rivalries exist but so to does respect. Arrogance is rarely seen in the Big 10 and it is such a breath of fresh air...
Huskers will not disappoint. This I can say with absolute certainty.
Great post! Seems as though Jim Delany (Conference Prez) picked a good on that will fit in juuuuuust right.

So in other words, things are potentially looking bright for the Huskerballers (please excuse my nicknames, just getting a feel for your school teams).
I'm very much looking forward to the Nebrasketballers coming and trying to establish themselves in the conference. How nice would it be for you all to come in and knock off some of the top tier teams in the conference as a first introduction? I think that would be great to be honest. I wouldn't mind seeing you guys start off a heated rivalry by means of taking it to an unsuspecting Wisky or Purdue team. I'll leave my bucks out of that because their my pride and joy but then again I wouldn't be against respectively rooting for the Husker demise for 40 minutes if it meant we got to engage in an epic battle.
-
Is it possible that the move to the Big Ten makes Nebraska a bit more sexy to recruits/coaches and allows you to potentially acquire higher tier players and up and coming coaches? From your comments so far I can see this as seriously helping the program by being part of a more prestigious conference, right?

I've been trying to learn up on you Huskers in every way I can and I'd like you guys to help me get a feel for how you guys think you will do next year playing against Big Ten teams.
Do you guys think you match up pretty well and immediately make a splash and contend to make a run at the Big Ten title in the tourney at the end of the season or do you all foresee yourselves struggling and dwelling closer to the bottom.
Looking forward to knowing my new brethren better!

What Coqui said. It was a completely hypothetical situation. I know perfectly well that we won't go undefeated and it doesn't hurt to dream, I'm just curious as to how well backed we would be by our conference mates or if we would be totally shunned. Also not to sound arrogant but we pretty have been the flagship program of the B1G since for the past near decade. Personally I feel Wisconsin, Nebraska, and for a stretch maybe even Sparty have a better chance at getting to the title game than we do but that's not going to stop us from trying or better yet (if we actually do get a postseason ban), play spoiler to everyone else's season as best as we can.
He also brought a great point about ESPiN constantly reporting our transgressions while conveniently leaving out UNC, GT, Oregon, and the lax reporting on Auburn along with sweeping the constant arrests by Florida/Bama/Georgia players under the rug. I posted this elsewhere on the board but I thought it would be a good supplement as to why we get the front page news everyday about our mistakes and everyone else gets ignored.
