  1. According to the article their head coach was fired which may have something to do with it. She announced she was transferring, but not to where she was transferring, before the coach was fired, so maybe I'm reading something into it.

Edit: I did misread the article. She announced her transfer after the coach was fired, but before they announced her replacement.

  2. One year after the Nebraska/Penn State game, Penn State played Alabama. The same official made a call against Alabama which negated what would have been a touchdown and given Alabama the lead with one second left in the game. The following week, Beano Cook was on ESPN and made a diagram of what the field looked like to that official. He had a small portion added to the area of the field where the Penn State player caught the ball at the two yard line and had a slightly larger area missing from the end of he end zone where the Alabama player caught the ball. I was wondering if anybody remembers seeing Beano Cook on ESPN that week? It was pretty funny. The following link contains a video of the Penn State/Alabama game highlights from the following year. If you go to about 8:50 of the video you hear the announcers state that this is the same endzone where Penn State scored to beat Nebraska right before the play in question.

  3. Do we know who the replay official was? Is the name of the replay official ever made known? The officials on the field can't hide behind the vail of anonymity, why can the replay official, if that's the case? Maybe he's a homer for UCLA.

Eliminating what Collins said has become “wrestling matches” with physical post play is among those points of emphasis.

Holding, chucking, pushing, bumping and otherwise impeding cutters without the ball is also a foul and should be called, whether the act seems insignificant or not.
There’s an emphasis on making sure all screens are stationary.
Also, if a defender is in legal position, officials are instructed to reward him for offensive initiated contact; it's either a no-call, or, if egregious enough, a player-control foul.
“Officials are instructed to call the first foul, be diligent with the whistle and no matter how unpopular, continue calling fouls as the rulebook dictates,” Collins said. "This will be good for the game.”
Because of this, Nebraska coach Tim Miles has had almost every practice officiated since the first week. He’s done it in early-season practices in the past, but plans on doing it more now, and may continue doing so throughout the season.

Anybody know if the rule changes specified in this post would help a smaller team or bigger team?

  6. Anybody with DirecTV having trouble getting this game? Texas Tech is on ABC and apparently on ESPN2 also and when I try to access ESPN2 it says this station is blacked out. There is no reason to black out Michigan State and Indiana here in Texas.
