  1. They said they never hear anything about Suh until the Texas game was over. They are now blaming the White Helmets, saying Suh is a NFL bust and Nebraska Fans are the worse. One of them even attacked Nebraska's schedule. Yet they performed on the level of the Sunbelt Teams the Huskers played. They started the threads, some Husker fans stood up to their BS is all.

Their implossion was differant than Huskerboards. Huskers want to fire coaches, bench players etc. Zona makes excuses and attacks the other Team.

  2. The OL is why things work.

I was pretty impressed with our o-line. It looked like we were against a Sun Belt team again. Even on the QB sneaks, Lee picked up two or three yards because of the o-line push.

I am hoping this carries over to next year!

I think the OL was a bit more Healthy and has improved. They should be OK next year as 4 starters return from that unit. The one thing I think they need to fix is the penalties. Clean that up and the Offense should be much better. Hope Lee's surgery and recovery goes well.

  3. They were saying before the game that Nebraska hasn't faced a Spread Offense like Zona (They thinbk Zona's Spread is unique), They had better players than Texas, Nebraska Defense was slow, Nebraska only had Suh, etc. etc.

After the Game their threads are all about Nebraska Fans are the worse and Suh will be a Bust in the NFL. They say none heard of Suh until the Texas Game.

Out of every forum I have read over the years, they are the least educated. They know nothing outside of the State of Arizona.

They say in one thread that Nebraska can't be better next year without Suh and than turn around and say Suh only gets sacks because of the Coverage and players around him.

  4. Keep in mind that when Osbourn took over, they only played 11 games plus the Bowl. Now Teams get 12 games plus Conf Champ Game and Bowl Game.

I would say you could compare IF Bo is in the Top 10 at the end of every season.

I would say being back is when Bo does what Osbourn was doing. Finishing Top 10 and in the National Championship race each year.

PS: Osbourn came close in both 82 and 83

  5. Specifically during the KU game, every long pass to Niles Paul was a jump-ball. If Niles has the guy by 3 yards, he has to check-up, stop and jump to get that ball. Not necessarily a high-percentage catch (although Niles made it look easily), and with a Safety coming over, a good defender will make that receiver pay by knocking his legs out from under him or blasting him out of bounds. On the other hand, if you place the ball down the field near the sideline, if you overthrow, you just get an incompletion, but you avoid the interception or the risk of getting your receiver torn apart.

I give TO all the respect in the world, but the pass definitely wasn't his bread and butter. If I want advice on the option or smash-mouth football, TO is your man. If you want advice on pocket or play-action passing, you probably want to look elsewhere.

Osbourne ran a passing offense before he ever went to a smash mouth style. He was a passing OC and a Passing Head Coach before his assistants got him to commit to the run. He also was a QB in College.

  6.

There is nothing wrong with the option pass, and it's great when it is run successfully. Our o-line just continues to prove, however, that they can't consistently block well enough for any given play to work more than once.

There's your answer, and it's a pretty simple one.

Our o-line wasn't the problem on that option pass. I can recall 2 option pass this year and we are 1 or 2. I was watching Bo talk us through the KSU game last night. He said that the corner blitz that KSU called was the only play the we couldn't run the option pass against. He said it would have been open, but there was no one "available" to pick up the blitz. For once it wasn't the o-line's fault

I agree. Perfect Call and the Perfect Time by KSU.

  7. The Formation isn't anything new. Plenty of Teams use it already. He just wants a personel change with Green playing one of the RBs spot.

Who gets the snap won't make a diff as the LBs will see.

As another poster said, you will have to use a QB to Block. Not sure if this is the best use of personel.

  8. I noticed that play and instantly thought, holy hell this isn't 1997. But it worked, so I ate my words.

Now reading that Watson has been picking the brain of Dr. Tom, considering that play, it makes me wonder what other plays did he seek advice on.

If anybody knows anything about the Nebraska offense from the '90s, you know that Joe Gibbs and the Washington Redskins implemented several I-Form run plays from the Nebraska offense.

Now if these plays are good enough for the NFL, they're good enough for Coach Watson. Is it any wonder that Helu was starting to average 5 yards a pop again? I noticed guards pulling and misdirection. Beautiful.

Joe Gibbs took the Counter Gap from Osbourne. Renamed it a Counter Trey. Most Redskin fans think Gibbs invented it. Gibbs has said he got it from Nebraska several times.

  9. I know I am opening myself up for attacks from Husker fans that are just glad we are winning again, but I say you are not TRUE Husker fans if you condone the conduct of Bo Pelini and Larry Asante.

I am VERY disappointed in Bo Pelini for not doing something about Larry Asante playing like a thug for the second week in a row. I hate Oklahoma and I hate KU, but I love football and there is not place for thuggish play like the celebration over injuring a OU player after making a dirty hit and then the hit on the KU quarterback was just downright dirty. We want winning football and Nebraska but not at the cost of becoming a Miami like group of thugs. I was hoping that, even though Pelini came from the Les Miles staff that he would show more class than Miles does...I guess I was wrong, he is showing himself to be just as classless. Come on Pelini, DO SOMETHING ABOUT LARRY ASANTE.

    T-Ball starts in April

  10. I think Games like this are Good for Football.

With that said. Scheduling any other of the regular Top 10 Teams would have a Greater reward if you win and a lesser penalty if you lose. That is IF you could get one of them to come to Lincoln.

If I were A/D, I would offer $750k and make it known to the press that the offer is out there. I would also make it known that this is the Max Payout Nebraska gives to Non BCS Programs.

That would put the pressure on Boise. They either care about getting a Quality BCS Game or they Care more about the Money.

  11. QBs job on a option is to attack the DE. If the DE is free, you pitch just when he commits 100%. If the DE is blocked or kicked out, the QB should turn up field.

This situation, the pitch was the right read. Helu should have held on to the Ball.

The play was well defended and poorly blocked.

I can't believe how bad the Lee bashing has become. We all know they don't have a Great QB on the roster this year. But the QBs don't have Great players around them either.

Every poor Offense has one thing in common. A weak O-Line and Fans ripping the QB.

Fix the O-Line and Both Lee and Green will look 100% better.

  12. Firing Watson will only go so far. The real solution is to bench Zac Lee. A new OC will not be able to do much with Zac Lee at QB.

Guess you have not watched the last couple games. That was tried. It didn't work.

I've ignored so many people this season, including this guy (for obvious reasons). The amount of low quality new posters this season has really skyrocketed.

Ignore if you want but you are blind if you think either QB is getting the job done. And what I said is true. They did bench Lee. Nothing changed on offense.

For some reason people see recruiting stars next to a name and think they are All Americans. They are All American at the High School Level. DI is 4 levels higher. Until the Staff starts developing fundamental skills, These guys are going to struggle on offense.
