icedavis
Not to step on anyone's toes but here is a wallpaper I made from scratch in Photoshop. Been a long time reader around here and thought it would be time to contribute. Hope it is worthy. Any tips or suggestions are welcome. The link is to the site to get the 1900x1080. 1 Quote Link to comment

That is a really cool wallpaper, but let me give you a little advice. Do NOT use Flickr for any image over 1280x1024. Flickr automatically crops it down for free users. A great site to use for hosting is either photobucket.com or http://kiwi6.com/ Quote Link to comment

I guess I never noticed nor have I had issues with Flickr before. Maybe it's because I am a paying user of Flickr. In the meantime everyone can try this while I check out those other options: http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6185/6094896099_62e164e2ba_o.jpg Let me know if that doesn't work while I check out the others. Learning process I guess. Quote Link to comment

You should be allowed to upload images without them being cropped and we as visitors should be able to save your images. You must have your settings blocking downloads (at least of the wallpaper) Quote Link to comment
icedavis
Okay just so I am clear before I post the new one, that last link worked and everyone was able to save? If so, here is the new one: http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6192/6110896920_508b456b83_o.jpg If not I will post elsewhere for download. I just didn't want to start a new account somewhere if flickr was working. I am sure you understand. Quote Link to comment

Great job on this one as well, looks like I have some competition now, lol! Quote Link to comment
icedavis
Great! I have a few more coming. Competition? Nah, just adding to the pool of greatness. But if you want to use it as motivation to up your game, then by all means go for it. I think its fun to learn and challenge yourself. Makes that extra effort all the more rewarding. Wicked_Shadows
Yeah it does! I love this board for inspirations, Landlord of Memorial Stadium left a great comment on my wallpapers about lack of color and hard to read text, which got in my head and motivated me to learn new tricks. My new style is crazy (can't post the ones I've done so far cause it's the Packers, Lions And Colts of the NFL. click my sig if you want to see them.), soon I will have a Husker one (or two) made to show it off. icedavis
I have been checking out your stuff via flickr since you added me. I can see your progression. I am liking those packers/lions ones. The backgrounds are super cool. What kind of effect is that? Did you create those yourself just messing around or spin them off from a tutorial? I am all self taught and if people are willing to share their tricks I love to learn them and share my own. Quote Link to comment

The background effects are created by using different apps plus some Photoshop filters like lens flare and twist after painting funky patterns with the paint brush. No tutorial used for those new ones, but if your looking to learn some new techniques, check out http://psd.tutsplus.com/ I do love the Lions and Packers ones as well, maybe my favorite works of all time next to my "Bring Back The Black", glad you like them as well!!! My Lions works are HUGELY popular too, its crazy! Any Lions walls I make easily double the downloads of any other works. Lions fans aren't used to seeing people make wallpapers for that team, lol. Haha, maybe I need to start making Lions ones as well. Maybe some Raiders or Rams ones too, LOL. I figured the lens flares and the twist pattern. Those are similar to a photography technique called camera tossing. Leave the camera on a long exposure in a darkened room pointed at some funky lights and chuck it into the air. There are some great patterns like your backgrounds as a result. p.s. I love Tuts Plus. Its been a great helper tool for me over the years. Quote Link to comment
