k3tchup57
Made a vertical wallpaper for my phone as I didn't see any I wanted in particular. Figured that I would share it for anyone else that would like to use it. It isn't perfect as far as sharp lines and such but when you scale it down to a phone it looks great, tablets its pretty good. Edited to include a few new changes, hopefully they are liked. Quote Link to comment
Wicked_Shadows
Thats pretty nice there! Don't see how it would work on a tablet though. If using Photoshop for this design, try replacing the stroke with an outer glow instead on the skull and bones, that would look sweet! Quote Link to comment
k3tchup57
Thanks! I am not using photoshop actually I just tried using GIMP, it's free and to be honest this is one of the first things i've ever done on any type of photoshop program (the first being my signature ). Took me most the afternoon, so probably longer than it should of but I liked learning some of the processes. It was pretty fun so I figure I will probably keep trying some more husker stuff to get better at it and provide myself with some new stuff that I created. I definitely appreciate the input though always good to try something new or find ways to improve my work as I get started As far as a tablet goes my brother put it on his but he did have some all black on the sides so it wasn't perfect but the image itself still looked pretty nice, for the phone it fits perfect (I made it for my galaxy S3 in particular). Always open to some new designs that I could try and I would happily repost them back to the community, I see you post quite a bit of photoshop stuff so your word tips do mean a lot! 8D Quote Link to comment
Wicked_Shadows
Hey thats exactly how I got started, a long LONG time ago, lol. Just cracked open the apps and played around, did lots and lots of tutorials. Take it from me, you'll never stop learning now! I wish I had Gimp tips for you, I haven't used it in so long I done forgot everything I knew then, which wasn't much at all. The best tip I can give you is play around with tuts, like the ones here - http://gimp-tutorials.net/ Thats how you will pick up tips and tricks. Don't copy a tut for your design, but learn how they did it so you can use individual tricks for your own style. Quote Link to comment
k3tchup57
Hey thanks! Hopefully I can provide some cool stuff for husker fans to use if they like as I learn (when I actually make something I see fit to post). Will definitely be continuing to learn and keep on creating some cooler and cooler stuff. By the way, with that nice of a website do you do this stuff for a living or is it just for fun? You seem to be pumping out a lot of quality wallpapers in either case! Quote Link to comment

Will definitely be continuing to learn and keep on creating some cooler and cooler stuff. By the way, with that nice of a website do you do this stuff for a living or is it just for fun? You seem to be pumping out a lot of quality wallpapers in either case! A little of both actually. The stuff you see on my site is all for fun, but all the eyes on it brings me in a lot of contracts. I get emails or hit up on Facebook for designs quite a bit actually. You may see my designs in different shops all throughout Nebraska for sure. Local businesses hit me up, wanting a poster design, new logo, I do stuff for photographers, one actually shoots for Playboy and Maxim. The key to all that comes back to the works I do on the site. Those grab lots of attention, which gets businesses interested in what I could do for them. So, in short, my works are for the fans, to gain me some fans (lol) and like one massive visual advertisement all in one. I'll keep an eye out for your works, and if you ever have any questions, feel free to ask me and I will do whatever I can to help you out. Quote Link to comment
k3tchup57
Wow, thanks man! That is quite the impressive to get that kind of traffic. I hope to create some good ones, probably won't be doing anything in bulk but as long as I can share some of my own creativity with the cornhusker fans I will be happy! And I will definitely keep you in mind if I have any quick questions or am needing some advice. I will keep an eye out for your stuff as well, after all the more eyes the better! Wicked_Shadows
For sure my friend! My site today just hit over 10,000 page views, thats insane! Tomorrow I will package up some of my wallpaper size templates I have and I'll share them with you. some like the Android and tablet sizes are tricky to nail down. Gimp can open .psd files right? Quote Link to comment
k3tchup57
Yea GIMP opens .psd files as far as I know, I dont know about the most recent updates to photoshop etc but as far as I know it should work out easily. As far as the templates that would be awesome, would probably save me alot of time if anyone wants me to give them a specific size of anything. Very grateful for the help! You can just PM me for an email if you need to for sending file templates if you like. Quote Link to comment
icedavis
I don't have mine to post but if you just google search iPad, iPhone, Android (typical size), etc dimensions you should get some quick answers until Wicked can post his templates. Quote Link to comment

k3tchup57
Edited the first post to include the glow as you had suggested wicked, looks nice! Quote Link to comment
icedavis
I like the glow a lot better. What I would do though to clean up that part a bit is to smooth the entire edge of the skull and bones in general. Make that layer a selection, then shrink the selection a few pixels and smooth the edge on it. Then invert the selection, delete, add back in the black stroke and viola! A cleaner, smoother edge. Now that I think about it though, its primary purpose is a phone wallpaper...so when its that small, i guess that edge isn't as visible as the one shown above. But if you wanted to smooth the edge, that would be one way (albeit a bit simplified) to do it. It would also be a useful way (but not the only way) to clean up the edge on the player too. k3tchup57
I agree with you Icedavis, I wasn't planning on turning it into anything bigger, however in the event that it makes it onto anything else I do at a higher resolution/size I would want to smooth it out so I will give that a shot for future usage. As far as a phone yea it looks perfect at that size, even on the Galaxy S3 which has a pretty decent sized screen. Quote Link to comment
Wicked_Shadows
Oh yeah that glow looks amazing on there! Great job my friend! Quote Link to comment
