10-3 season

there has been some pretty big improvements but what gets me is we had a golden opportunity to make a HUGE jump and we blew it. Here are some things that get me and need to be adressed.

1. Get the ball to REX!!!! he is a great player and should have 20-25 carries a game. no excuses. he wants it more than any other player out there and is ALWAYS fighting for extra yards.

2. Martinez needs to look in the mirrore and decide what kind of player he wants to be. I know hes hurt but im not sold on his dedication to the team and thats a problem. It seems like the line blocks better for Rex, Roy, Cody and Zac then for Taylor. Maybe im just overraeacting but im not so sure. Martinez needs to realize he can be great here but he needs to buy into the team, because thats how you win here. He isnt in Cali anymore.Over the offseason he needs to work on his decisio nmaking(will comew in time) but also making guys miss. Yeah hes fast but hes not Crouch yet. He out runs guys but doesnty make them miss. Im not givin up on taylor and neither should Husker fans, but he is a work in progress.

3. The play calling needs to be improved. RUN WHAT WORKS!!!!!!! TO would run a play until you stopped it and then once you did he would run it again cuz he thought you got lucky. I think this comes from firing Watson. No excuses. The athletes are there. He does not get the ball to the playmakers. McNeill cought a few passes last night but hehas been quiet since 08. He is our best receiver hands down. Catches everything. Same with Brockmeier. All 6 balls thrown at him he has caught so get him the ball!!! but we coulda run it down their throats. and wats dont run read option with an injured QB.and if they are blitzing, idk run a SCREEN!!!!

4. The D needs to get some key turnovers. we had 1 last night. Now, im not bashing the D. They were on the field a lot with a lot of pressure, but we need some turnovers.

I am sickened by this loss. we had it in our grasps but totally botched it. we coulda played UCONN in the fiesta bowl, dominated them and been 12-2 in the top 5. HUGE JUMP right there. instead, to me we are right where we were last year. Mid level bowl after a tough B12 championship loss that was thrown away by the offense. This one is one of the tougher pills to swallow. Next year, if we change the offense, we can be very very good. we are very young. Changes are needed tho.

Three losses by only 7, 3, and 3 points respectively. I would not say that Watson "out smarts" himself but rather "out confuses" himself because he has trouble figuring out what works. He hasn't shown to me the ability to grow or adapt. I'm done with him.
he is frustrating to watch....
I do not remember seeing Watson playing last night? Kidding. I was not especially thrilled with some of his calls last night. I have to think that he was not either. I give him the benefit due to the production, the record, and the adversity of the season. For the last 5 games he has not known who his QB is going to be. I have to think they are not finalizing a game plan until they know who will be on the field. I will hold judgement on Watson being a failure the season that all things click and he is unable to have any production. He at least needs two more years to see what he is really made of or what he can do.

This is not a comparison to Callahan and Cosgrove. This program is obviously not taking a step back.

I don't really care what they do with Watson, he was a Tom Osborne hire. 42 fumbles this year had a lot to do with the 3 losses. Cause every time you fumble and even if you recover the ball it's still a lost play.

All our losses the games were winnable if Watson just did something else. For some reason when we get behind or ahead Watson just messes it up. I would be happier if we simply got beat. For me no team was just simply better than us. They only won because we have a sh**ty OC. Seems we are winning more games but also getting worse. That's not gonna continue next year. I just hope Bo does something about in the off-season.
we did simply just get beat. the problem is that whenever we lose, youre pinning it all on watson. stop making excuses

So instead of a close game where one fewer turnover could have made the difference between a championship or not you would rather just get beat. If I were Watson I would be running away from this fan base.
Actually, yes. Getting outplayed by a team that is just hands down better than you is easier to swallow than several close losses where the team trips over itself.
This is just dumb. I have to assume anyone that would think this way was either in the band, a cheerleader, or played video games instead of actually playing sports. No way would you want to just be inferior vs needing to make small adjustments to win. Anyone who thinks this way should be Iowa State fans.
WTH are you talking about? Why is it so hard for you to understand that blowing a lead and having a team come back on you hurts worse than if you just lost it outright from the beginning and were never in it?

You think Alabama fans feel better about the fact that Auburn came back from like 21 points down to beat them at the end? The fact that their fans sat back and thought, "We've got this one in the bag!" only to see it dissolve right before their eyes?

I'd rather have a million-dollar prize go to someone else from the get go, rather than be told I won the money, call all my friends to celebrate, only to learn later that a mistake was made and that it must actually go to someone else.

Are you even human?

I remember November 3, 2007 : Nebraska 39 - Kansas 76

That hurt worse than last night, by far! I NEVER want to be a team that's "not good enough to win." That's not Nebraska.

At least some good came out of that loss.

16 points away from an undefeated season.

Remember a few years ago when 16 additional points wouldn't even get a 1st quarter lead?

It looks like we're going to be passed up for the Insight.com bowl for Mizzou. We're likely stuck in the Holiday again against Arizona or Washington. The Holiday is a lower-tier bowl this year with lower revenues to match. I'm not sure how anyone can view the ending of this season as anything but a step back from last year. Yes, we're better off than 2007, but we also seem to be stuck in a Groundhog Day-like rut.

Here is an example of what the brilliant Watson does. Run 60-80 yards to get downfield then throw 3 straight passes for a 3 and out. That genius right? Only he does this. Why are we late in the season continually have illegal formations called? do our offense coaches not stress this and false starts? Watson should have fixed this but didn't. Since he is the coordinator he is responsible for fixing this. If he can't then he better get on to someone who will. Even Bill Callahan didn't have this trouble. I'm not making excuses everything i have said has been done this season. I guess you are content huh? great defense and an offense that shows up whenever it feels like it.

this team is in groundhog day.

another confusing CCG loss.

another holiday bowl.

here's to hoping Bo wakes up one day and figures out what it is he needs to go back and change before it happens again next year.

Next year is going to be very very tough if mistakes and play calling like this years carry over. Expectations will be very low going into next season for me. Bo needs to figure away for his team to fire on all cylinders or the big 10 will have their way with us.
